Who are the players?

1997 title game T vs. X was 3 degrees or so at kickoff and -10 wind chill...No snow, but Ben Bosscher's FG was the only scoring play and there was maybe 150 yards of offense total. Best St. X defense they've had in my lifetime and maybe top 5 for us too.

I wish we could've gotten X in the playoffs this year...all I'll say on this!

JB is coming along but I doubt we get him tonight. RB is probably the deepest spot on the team (maybe kicker?!?!) and like THSRock said we haven't much needed him. Also, the addition of a big back like Benji Rice and the hard running style from Zach Floyd makes us a nightmare no matter who gets it. And if the OL keeps it up, it won't matter. This is the deepest we have been at that position since 2011 with Dalyn Dawkins, Garrett Sauer and Donald Brooks, in my opinion.

Trinity goes as the O-Line goes, in my opinion. LT Nate Shields is playing at an all-state level and it is absolutely masterclass by Cobb et al to move Boyd Knoerr out to RT. Elijah Hernandez is fighting hard through some pains but looks like he is ready for the deep run and Josh Bratcher and Dakari Beckham seem to get better every week. They will have their hands full with Moten, but I thought they handled the 4* from Douglass well even without Shields. QB Zane Johnson has also gotten through the tough part of the schedule and looks like his old self (albeit with some competition behind him from Shoemaker!) and RB Chris Wilson has been massive filling in for JB Berry who was battling a lower body injury. Defensively, the Rocks have really stepped it up in the front 7. LB Nick Lococco has solidified the group and has seemingly been in the opponents' backfield the entire second half of the year. He and Jack DeBellis have teamed for 17 tackles for loss in limited time with the blowouts recently. DL Bailey Vance is one of the best defensive linemen to come through Trinity and has been a major cog in the d-line's productivity for almost 3 years now. DL KeAndre Thompson has emerged as a junior and is at the top of the team lead in tackles for loss with 11.5. DB Elijah Burns-Crump has stepped in at safety and gives Trinity needed speed and an ability to shut down a play quickly. CB's LA Evans and Sonny Bratcher-Gray have shut down almost all passing the last three weeks and DB Caleb Ricks has been solid in both pass and run defense. For Fern Creek, Coach Josh Abell and his teams have gotten better each year. They will have at least two straight seasons at .500 or better for the first time in a while and he is not afraid to test you deep. QB Passmore is averaging almost 14 yards per completion and they have a capable running game with 981 yards rushing this year on 233 attempts. DE Travis Moten is a terrific player who projects as a gamer at the next level. His 29 tackles for loss and 19.5 sacks are eye popping and his measureables are something that have to be accounted for on every snap. Darius Woodford has gone under the radar but is also a solid defender and TJ Cothron is a dude at both receiver and DB. I agree that this could be more of a test than most people think, especially early going. Fern Creek will be fired up to play Trinity for the first time since 2006 and Coach Abell is know for his preparation and leadership. But I also do think the Rocks' scheme of zone and gap rushing I think will make life hard for Moten to get the stats he's been used to, and having monster TE's Holden Shoen and AJ Green adding to the front line attack will ensure that Trinity is able to run the ball. The Shamrocks have also cut down on the turnovers and have been feisty getting 17 takeaways this year themselves. I like Trinity to pull away in this one and having the "Iron Leg" of Carson Hilbert will keep the orange and black Tigers deep in their own territory for much of the game and make life difficult for most of the night. ☘️

We had radio there two years ago. I do remember there being issues but not recently I don't believe. Should have it on AM970 starting with the pregame show at 7pm!

RB Chris Wilson continued his great play from last week and was the catalyst with 151 and 2 TDs...No turnovers for the Rocks offense and was 3-for-3 on red zone trips in this one...There is definitely time to get going and hopefully Nate Shields isn't rushed back too quickly for this O-Line, regardless of need...I really expected the Ballard offense to rely on WR Stephens much more but Irvin was running a lot from the pressure and just could not get it to him...Kudos to the defense and the whole squad for keeping composure throughout

Rocks should have running back JB Berry back this week to compliment Chris Wilson, Zach Floyd and Benji Rice...Hearing that DB Will Ford will miss significant time now after getting hurt against X but junior OL Nate Shields is close to returning (which is huge)...I'd expect Elijah Burns-Crump to see most of the action in the secondary as the Rocks try to corral the electric Maurice Stephens...He's not quite Devante Parker, but he's very very good for the Bruins

FYI, his brother Benji enrolled at Trinity...Wish they could've made it work for both of them but they are great kids!

The ref ruled that Kamara touched the ball while on the ground and makes the "downed" signal after Vrbancic takes it out of his hands. It did happen very quickly but if he ruled that Sekou had the ball in his hands while on the ground, it was the right call.

What I don't know is how that punter got the ok to run it out of his end zone. I just can't see that play being called from the sidelines. I know they ran a similar play early in the JV game and hit for like 40 yards but that's just really bad ball. The pass on third down and Harris going out of bounds were icing on the cake. It just really seemed like Male ran out of gas in the fourth quarter after dominating with stretch running plays and wildcat option runs for most of the game. Trinity's opportunistic defense and a clutch drive were the difference in this one, no doubt. Anyone saying the officials were one-sided need to adjust the rabbit ears coming out of the coax port of their RCA...

Did a good job setting the edge almost all night...Easy to see why they have him playing both ways...I assume they will try to use him against Wilson/Vance to do the same in the speed option and Wildcat packages they run with Harris to spring him...Honestly I'd be surprised if they throw 10 passes all night, regardless of what Wolfe thinks of the T secondary.

Trinity does this as a courtesy to the other program. Most staffs/programs would like to play Saturday morning and if one squad travels and the other stays, both games can be played at 11am or whenever and the programs each get a gate and pay for travel. That way it isn't all or nothing one year to the next and logistics are much easier.

Trinity had a good win last week against a solid Carmel team with a handful of D-1 quality ballplayers. The offensive line had their best game of the year in my estimation and seem to have settled in with Nate Shields out for a while. RB JB Berry is getting better and better at seeing the holes as they open up and has become quite the weapon. Jeremiah Lynn had a couple drops but also had some nice receptions, the reverse TD, and a huge TD block for Berry late in the game. Defensively, the penalties persist but DB Caleb Ricks has become a ballhawk with 3 INTs in 4 games. DL Jahbarri Frost has stepped in and been very good against the run alongside Bailey Vance and KeAndre Thompson. I feel this game revolves around Trinity maintaining their composure and continuing to open up the playbook offensively. The reverse was a nice call and the squad genuinely looked to be having fun out there last week. P/K Carson Hilbert and the special teams unit will be massive in this field possession game and he is 6-7 all time converting onside kicks (gotta be a record!) The Male OL and DL are solid as usual with Sowells, Jackson Padget and X transfer Mason Mudd asserting themselves very well in the first part of the year. Chayce Burton is a quality back and Andrew Vrbancic is a nice TE who can block in addition to running quality routes. This rivalry has been hostile for a long time and the Rocks simply cannot let the Bulldogs get under their skin no matter what is uttered in the heat of battle. If Trinity maintains discipline, cuts back on penalties and drops, and can shut down the ubiquitous Antonio Harris, the road to victory is theirs to take. It certainly will not be easy on Friday. ☘️
