I'm saying Travis had just as good if not better stats against a markedly better schedule. That Elder team in 2011 would beat every school on the 2025 schedule except for the GCL teams...And they went 3-7! If anything, you are undervaluing Travis based on...what? He played with James Quick?

I am looking at statistics, wins and in-game intangibles. Brian is Brian. Travis is the winningest QB in a program know for its QB's and led them to a National Championship. William went toe-to-toe with the #1 team in the country and nearly beat them, all while leading the best statistical offense in the time period. Nick Bohn completed a national-record number of passes and went undefeated doing so. Zane has not been as sharp as he wanted to be in many of the biggest games to this point, and largely benefits from an elite defense creating turnovers at a ridiculous pace. He is a terrific player, but the bar at Trinity is extremely high under center...That's all I'm saying.

Jason is another guy who had so much potential and was enormously gifted. His size and speed were unstoppable at times and he was a big piece of the '11 team no doubt. But he was the 3rd best DL on that team. DB was super tough to wade through other than Ryan White. Rodjay split time between offense and defense due to those teams' needs and maybe that brings him down a little. Jack was a dude and had a great career at UCincinnati, but he gets unfairly demoted due to COVID.

Zero chance. I don't feel he can surpass Brohm, Wright or Stein. Unless he goes undefeated this year and throws for 4000 yards and 35 touchdowns.

Nobody inside the program would make this assertion. Brock Messina and Phillip McCaulley were definitely the better defensive players and Jordan was just bigger with more potential for the D-1 game back then. Messina became a first team All-American at Georgetown and led the nation in tackles and tackles for loss I believe. He is the most undervalued defensive player by the scouts on this entire list! Jordan maybe should have gone to wrestling at OSU?

1) Zane has benefitted from some of the best defenses Trinity has ever produced, specifically last year. If you're looking at his numbers and not the team's, he has been very pedestrian. And as someone who has been to every one of his games, home and road, I feel I can make the comparisons accurately. Look at Travis' winning percentage and stats against the schedule he faced. Stein has a ton of the single-season records with his 07 Season and Nick Bohn has the others. If he wins 4 straight and lights it up against this schedule, I might move him up but that's a big if. Titles do not necessarily make a QB in our program. 2) Who am I missing?

As for my credentials, I graduated in 2000 and was on Bob Beatty's staff from 2007 to 2014 working with film, college recruiting, offense, defense and some special teams. I grew up in St. Matthews going to Jeff, Craig and Devian's games and have spent the last 8 seasons on the broadcast team for the Rocks. Happy to debate or discuss anyone or any position. This is meant to be good natured and an (unofficial) way to celebrate these terrific ball players and their accomplishments.

Buster and Sherrod Coates were probably the two best players on that National Championship team. Really great to see BA's son doing big things!!

Need to wait and see, IMO. The 2011 team was the best Kentucky football team ever assembled and absolutely torched a brutal schedule. The 2026 team will have some terrific talent, but the losses at OL and LB will make this a tough comparison to gauge. The better question for me would be is '26 Baylor the best team Trinity has ever faced? In that discussion for me would be '94 Indy Ben Davis, '07 Cincinnati St. X, 2000 Highlands and maybe '14 Nashville Ensworth.

Spoke yesterday with the legendary Tom Fox, who will be stepping down as GM of the staff. He is taking the time to be a grandfather and to do some travelling with family, he said. Fox got his start at Trinity under Chuck Servino in 1998 I believe and is one of very few to have served as a varsity assistant under 4 head coaches (Servino, Wright, Beatty, Cobb) Fox was primarily an offensive line coach but has also spent time with the defense and special teams. He also coached at North Bullitt, Male, Fairdale and Jeffersontown before coming to Shelbyville Road. He was a pivotal piece in developing the 2011 team named National Champions as well as being a part of several more championships in his 20-plus years. Big thanks to a great coach and a great friend!

I really do want them to be good and a consistent rival, and maybe Landis can do that...But this all seems like a stretch.

Genuine question here: If Jay Cobb stepped down at Trinity would Landis get a call back for an interview? I'm just really puzzled by this hire. St. X is easily the top job in the state from a resources standpoint and a top 3 job overall. I realize that they were not put in a great situation by Wallace, but you had an entire year to find your guy and they picked a guy who was 2-8 last year and has *some* college experience as an assistant? I have no doubt he interviewed well and maybe they see this as a rebuild of sorts, but with that locker room and jumbotron and whatnot on the way, I figured they wanted to make a splash hire here...

I'm more interested in finding out why high school coaches and media cannot see offensive line play and realize what is effective and which players are great ones. To me, if you are already looking at a flashy defensive end or a monster up front who can cover multiple gaps and those guys get walled off play after play by a tackle or guard or center with great feet, they should get just as much recognition. A lot of what Isaac Sowells and Jedrick Wills was talked about but mostly because they had to play both ways (and were effective as well!) To me, its evident and something I look for routinely when watching film.

Serious question here for the coaches and staffers who have been a part of a program: how do you watch/chart OL play? Do you follow the standard charting developed by Belichick/Renner/Walsh or from a former college/pro coach or is there another way you watch tape? The best programs in all of high school football (and probably at all levels) have the most developed and technical offensive lines and so many of these athletes get overlooked by the average observer year in and year out. When I was on staff and we would meet other coaches at clinics or during film trades and nearly every time they wanted to know how we developed our linemen. Our guys were always trained to pass set, get out and run, and know the playbook responsibilities as much as the QB. It has been the cornerstone of the Trinity offense for the last 25 years and with Chris Botner and Breno Giacomini running the position now, there's no chance of that changing. However, so many people from my perspective just don't see the real reasons why the Rocks can go for 300+ every single game. It seems very simple to me when watching guys like Nate Shields, Dakari Beckham, Alex Moore, Cole Spencer and others over the years just completely shut down the 3/4/5-star defensive ends each week. But it always seems to get lost in translation to the common viewer or journalist. Travis Moten (Fern Creek), Cedric Works (F. Douglass) and Aden Reeder (Cin St. X) were all high level D-1 prospects with eyes on them every snap and they had a combined 3 tackles and 0 for loss going against Shields the last 2 years yet somehow he continues to get missed when teams watch film on Trinity. What am I missing here? I know I am biased, but the first guys I watched on tape this year were the ones going against KeAndre Thompson, Sebastian Blue, Jahbarri Frost and Juleone Carney and I knew with about 100% certainty how the game was going to go. It starts and ends with line play.
