Agreed - Scott is a good man.

I have no idea what his birthday is, but he's not a hold back. He plays baseball in the age division that corresponds with a typical 7th Grader. On top of having good Maile genes, his dad was a three sport stand out at McNick and a starting catcher for Ohio U. He may have an "early" birthday, but that's as far as it goes.

I don't see HC on Cov Cath's schedule after Friday, so I presume that it's a district seeding game. Surprised to see such a pivotal game so early. Cov Cath better be ready to go!

I saw the Blazer helping coach the 7th Grade HHS team last night. Is his son Scott not coaching this year?

I see nothing good in the current playoff system. We have too many teams and too many classes. Add an eleventh regular season game, cut to four classes, and reduce playoff entrants/district to two. KY just doesn't have the population to justify the current system. With that said, I realize for some teams that have trouble getting teams on their schedule, this is at least a guaranteed game for them. But, even with the occasional upset, there are far too many 3-4 hour bus trips that end with a running clock. I guess you could avoid this by going intra-district first - this would at least cut down on travel. I thought the playoff system from the late 80's-early 90's made the most sense. But, if the 0-10 programs don't mind getting their ars whipped, I guess who am I to care.

Good for you. I don't care how many people do it - I think the way it was done was wrong. If you knew me, you'd know I'm not a whiner, but you don't. So, you have the luxury of taking pot shots from your computer. Is calling 4-5 kids on a team "awful", on an on-line forum, being an adult? For the record, I don't know a soul on NCC's football team. The dead thoroughbred has been sufficiently beaten.

Fair enough - good luck NCC. Note to secondary and any parents of the secondary that are viewing this...um, crud - chins up - keep playing hard. If DB was easy, everybody would be doin it. Unfortunately, when DB's make mistakes, it typically results in big plays and/or scores - easy target. I know, spoken like a former DB - guilty as charged.

"Team" = OK. Small position group = not OK.

I will also reiterate a comment I have made more than once tonight. I have always admired how the NCC community closes ranks and backs its own. I certainly see that in spades tonight, with several folks rallying to defend the original post. Good for you. I hope you do the same for your fine football program. For the record - I'm not a "everyone gets a trophy guy". I have played for some of the toughest SOBs in NKY. Trust me, I get it.

OK - you have missed my primary point. My point is that this forum, IMO, is not appropriate for vehemently singling out a very small group of players. Referring to a unit - totally understand. Calling a group of 5-7 (probably more like 4-5) "awful" - I think is off-base. Further, I think justifying it as a life lesson is off as well. Especially when you have the following forums to do so: 1. Coaching Staff to address deficiencies 2. As a parent - discuss with your son and his friends (if applicable) 3. If you are not a coach or parent - go to the coach or AD and request a meeting with the head coach, or position coach and light 'em up all you want I have no idea whether or not the kids can or can't handle your comments. I don't care. If the coach's are handling it, while pile on? Or, said another way, if you have a problem with a small group of kids, why not address with them in a productive forum?

Maybe you're right BM, maybe you're right. For the record, he didn't say "the secondary didn't defend the pass", or " the pass rush wasn't getting home" - he said "the secondary is "awful". If that's cool on BGP, then maybe you're right BM. Thanks for the counsel.

Let's delve a little further...shall we? Are you telling me that the NCC coaching staff isn't on these kids to play better? NCC is a proud program - the envy of many in NKY. Do you really think they aren't being ripped on the sidelines, during practice or during film study when they make mistakes? Come on. But, I'm sure that extra "push" from some dude on BGP is gonna fix everything AND equip them with life lessons that they will cherish.

Whatever dude - criticize 'em person. Doing so on a forum viewed by "has been's" and "never will be's". What does it accomplish? Nothing, other than being a release for frustrated adults. Life lessons on BGP - awesome - thanks for the tutorial. I'm impressed by how hard you're fighting for your brethren. As I said earlier, I respect how NCC closes ranks and supports its own - time you did the same. If you want to rip - do so within the family.

No accidents in GCL - well coached football teams that want to beat the snot out of each other. Factor in that we're talking about teenagers - you have a recipe for surprises. We are so fortunate to have such great prep football on both sides of the river!
