  1. I was proud of that Holmes team and I'm proud of this CCH team. Way to go 9th Region! Do it again in '15!
  2. Perhaps - but it may be due to the fact that football requires more players to win. In hoops, one star can make all the difference.
  3. One other thought... To all of the Private school haters - Covington Catholic's win today was their first state title in basketball and only their second appearance in the state title game (first since 1967). They have made 9 trips to the Sweet 16 in 97 years - an average of once/decade (or so)! This year, we had two private schools in the Sweet 16. I saw some outstanding basketball from the public schools. A missed shot here, a foul called there, could have been a different result. P.S. - legitimate question - Don't you think public schools recruit? If not, you are delusional. It happens in every classification, all across our great Commonwealth. Keep the All A - leave the Sweet 16 alone. Again - KY's high school basketball tournament is special - please keep it that way!
  4. DanvilleFan hits the nail on the head. Regarding FB, KY does NOT have the population to justify six state champions. Moreover, the playoff system is broken. Look at the scores of 1st/2nd round games. Too many people upset because Jonny didn't get a trophy. Turning to basketball - KY is special, the Sweet 16 is an unbelievable experience. Part of what makes it great is the fact that it allows kids to dream big! KHSAA - PLEASE don't take the magic away - it is truly the greatest show in hoops!
  5. Two very good basketball teams - the future of NCC vs CCH looks very bright. Congratulations to the boys on both teams for a fantastic season. IMO, these are two of the top 5 (if not top 3) 8th Grade Catholic teams in all of Greater Cincinnati, based on what I saw this year. St. Susanna out of Mason, All Saints out of Montgomery and Visitation from the West side being the others. Of course, this is a KY based site, but these two NKY schools stack up very well against some of the big boys across the river, based on observations of head to head competition.
  6. 8th Grade Boys NKMSAA Regional Final SPX 55 Conner 40
  7. Tough call. Common opponent - Lafayatte - NCC lost by 2 to Lafayette @ King o' BG and Trinity beat Lafayette by 4 @ King o' BG and beat them by 11 last week. Tough to win a week night game on the road, but, I love NCC's toughness. Rocks by 1, but hats off to NCC for scheduling a fantastic late season test.
  8. SPX was up 8 @ half. OMS played fantastic 2nd Half D - took a 1pt lead late (ie 25-30 seconds remaining). Each team took turns missing FT attempts on ensuing possessions. SPX got a final possession with about 11 sec left. OMS had fouls to give and used them. Came down to an in bounds play under SPX basket with about 3 seconds remaining. Ref called a shooting foul with 1.1 secs left. Mayer hit both FTs to give SPX 1pt lead. OMS ran a nice in bound play and got off about a 35 footer that missed. Both teams scored well below average - combo of good D and jitters. It was a very tight ball game.
  9. SPX over Highlands tonight. SPX vs Ockerman tomorrow - 5:15 @ Gray.
  10. 8th Grade Boys District Final - SPX 45 Conner 38
  11. Cov Cath - Andy Listerman 1730 - will be broken shortly
  12. NKMSAA District Final - SPX 45 Conner 38 - good luck to both teams in the Regional Tournament.
