  1. ...and I am also well aware that some geniuses on the CCH side take shots at Ft. Thomas...
  2. JB - I have no doubt that that's exactly what the coaches and players did, just like they do every year in Park Hills. I was referring to the whole Mafia thing - wondering how the fan base in Ft Thomas reacted the last time there was a stumble (which I know is a relative term). Like I said originally, maybe CCH fans/boosters are that awful, but were the HHS fans silent in Eicher's last days or during whatever was going on with Duffy? Maybe they were, just asking the question. The CCH fan base takes a ton of shots from Ft. Thomas. Maybe the Ft. Thomas folks are just that much better. Oh well.
  3. You may be right, but I will subjectively state that the objectivity of Highlands fans has rarely been tested, if ever, in the BGP era. Fair to say? You are very fortunate to be associated with such a strong program. Hopefully, CCH can challenge someday soon and put your fan base's objectivity to the test. Until that happens, I don't think we'll ever really know.
  4. Yes, the playoff history is: CCH - 88 and 94. HHS - 89 and 92. They did not meet in 87 or 93 in the playoffs.
  5. Ah yes, the Mafia. Legitimate question, and I am not trying to pick a fight. HHS has had a remarkable run with Dale Mueller and by all accounts, they hit the jackpot with Brian Weinrich. Clearly, the program is as strong as it's ever been. But, what was the climate like during Jack Eicher's last years or toward the end of Duffy's run? Maybe CCH is off the charts horrible, I don't know. But I wonder, would things in Ft. Thomas be much different If there were struggles? I know it's hard to envision because of the 20 year run and awesome history of the program. But, I'd love to hear about how it was the last time there was a stumble.
  6. 4-2. CCH - 87, 88, 93, 94. HHS - 89 & 92. Just answering the question. In the grand scheme of things, that was Cov Cath's one legitimate run in the rivalry. HHS had had the upper hand for far longer than not.
  7. Highlands has an uncanny ability to singularly focus on Highlands. They have nothing to be concerned about. My guess is B Weinrich, similar to how Urban Meyer looks at the Jim Harbaugh hire, looks over at Eddie (assuming this is made official) and says "bring it on". Iron sharpens iron. If anything, the Highlands community will be invigorated by this hire.
  8. As an alum and now parent, I like hearing this type of feedback. Hopefully, the person making the comment has good points and constructive criticism to offer Bob Rowe. I know Bob will listen. If you aren't looking for ways to get better - you'll get worse. Also, always good to hear that some parents still have their priorities straight. Like I said, I hope whomever made the comment is sharing it with CCH.
  9. He started somewhere like Morehead or Toledo, but finished at Thomas More.
  10. If all of the numbers flying around are true, those scores are amazing. It wasn't long ago that 26/27 were darn good scores and equated to scholarship money. Now for many high schools, it seems they're about average.
  11. Wisconsin dropped scholarship at last minute, so he signed with Michigan State. I believe he was in East Lansing for one season and transferred to UK. He passed away during his transfer year.
  12. I am not close to the HHS program, but assuming what you say is the root cause, CCH hoops went through similar issues in the late '80's, as the football team developed into a late season challenger. In fact, I think 5 of the top 7 of the '87-'88 hoops team didn't report until Dec 1 - roughly 2-3 days before the first game. At any rate, this is about the time the major adjustment began in Park Hills, resulting in a lot of hard feelings, but ultimately, raised the level of the hoops program gradually. I know HHS debunked this theory in the late 90's but, let's face it, Smith and Lorenzen were special athletes. Listerman will find the right guys and turn things around - and he has his pop to lean on when discussing how to develop a program at a school where football looms large. Kevin will attract kids to the program and they will improve. But, as long as HHS keeps winning state titles on the gridiron, kids are gonna want a piece of that pie. So, the FB/BB crossover talent may continue to hang on to both, so as to be part of a state championship. As a CCH fan, it would be fun to see the rivalry in both sports get back to what it can be.
  13. Good points. Not a package deal. As I am sure you have noticed, Scott Ruthsatz doesn't give a rip about what people think of his decisions, so he would have brought Aiden up whether AJ existed or not. Both are good ball players and I believe may be the #1 and #2 scorers at the JV level. Maybe not, but close. In other words, they are legit. AJ probably has the bigger challenge ahead for two reasons: 1. Balancing multiple sports at a high level and 2. Not sure how much taller he'll get - may have to change his game a little down the road, which takes time and work - tough to balance when you are pretty talented at the other two sports and trying to be a teenage kid. It will be very interesting to see how many sports AJ is playing as a Senior - hopefully all three. In the other two sports, he plays two demanding positions - QB and Catcher. Specific to AJ, not a tactical move - Scott thought he was ready for that level and he has shown that he is, in spades. Perhaps in the process, convincing himself (meaning AJ) to give hoops a serious "go" at CCH. It will be interesting to watch. Aiden Ruthsatz is a classic "hoops only" gym rat that will do nothing but improve.
  14. Yes, teammate of David Wilson, who I also believe deserves mention. He played three different offensive positions in his three years as a starter. As a sophomore Dave was a two way starter by the end of the year and at the time, set the school record for most TD catches @ WR. As a junior, he was a second team all conference QB (behind Gallichio) and as a senior, was a two way all conference player, NKY POY and first Colonel 1,000 yard rusher - all while having to play QB for about five games late in the year and only played the first half of about 3-4 games. Dave was a three year starter at Safety for Randy Walker - Miami (OH). Barry was at least a three year starter, if not four at UK. Moved to Guard down there - great feet, a nasty streak and finished blocks down field! I had the good fortune if being a teammate of both at CCH.
  15. What you say about Paul may or may not be true, but, he was darn good one Saturday in December of 1988.
  16. Routinely, they draw from two (Kenton and Boone). But, they also draw from Campbell Co. Not much, if any, from anywhere else.
  17. Received my issue of Baseball America today. BA rates Luke as #26 in their Tampa Rays Top 30 prospect ranking. Ranked as the #3 catching prospect in the organization. Will go to big league camp and hopefully will earn an assignment to AAA Durham to start the year.
  18. By Not a bad come back. But it would have been better if you said something along the lines of passing on sweeping the floor because you'd rather continue cleaning clocks...or something like that.
