Covington Catholic 5 Beechwood 1 (NKY Frosh Regional Tournament)
JJD replied to JJD's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Sorry about the inaccurate score post. If there is a Mod that can change the score, please do so - should be Cov Cath 5 Beechwood 2. -
Any word on time/location for Cov Cath/Beechwood Frosh tourney game tomorrow?
-
Congrats Coach Krumps on another 20 win season. That's something like 28 or 29 years in a row I believe.
-
Someone previously mentioned "sweep", but the JV Birds won 8-6, so the weekend was 3-1 in favor of the Colonels.

I know HHS expects better results, but, kudos to that program for playing the schedule they've played. Cincy St X yesterday, followed by a twinbill vs one of your biggest rivals - strong work coach B. I admire the "any place, any time" attitude. This is all just prep work for the post-season. With all of that said, Good Job Colonels - two nice wins against a quality opponent.

Nice win for the Tigers. I wasn't at the game, but I've seen Nick pitch before - quality pitcher. Colonels fall to 13-2, with next scheduled game Thursday @ home vs Boone Co. The game today vs Dixie has been cancelled. -

Cov Cath frosh are 13-1 - lost to Ryle to open the season. They beat Ryle last Thursday by 3 or 4 runs. They play @ Beechwood today - 5pm. -
Quality matchup - the kind of game that serves as a measuring stick for June.

These are the kinds of games you play in June. Nice win Birds. -

I was impressed by New's mound presence and leadership during the course of the game. -
Greatest running back out of Scott High school?
JJD replied to Scotteagles's topic in KY Football (High School)
I would vote for Coker. I believe he was on Scott's first team to finish with a winning record - 1990 season I believe. -
Louisville is fun to watch. The kids play very hard...and they're talented - scary combo. Well on their way to a top 8 seed - 3 trips in a row to Omaha?

Haven't seen him play much, but I'd imagine, given the kind of athlete he is, he could play corner IF or OF. -

Maile moves up and down. It seems he moves down to pitch, but otherwise competes at the JV level. -
Congratulations To Cov Cath's Coach Krumps: 900 Wins
JJD replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Baseball (High School)
Congrats Coach! A man of few words, one of his great quotes: "Dear Lord - please help us get dirty, sweaty and bloody, 'cause it's a blast" - "Queen of Victory" (pray for us), "Best team" (Colonels). -Bill Krumpelbeck's pre-game prayer with team before a District Final vs Dixie. Won 2-1 in 11 innings. A true American original! -

FWIW - my son is on the Cov Cath freshman team. There was no game with SK on their schedule. Not sure where that came from. They had games Thurs and Fri at Boone and Scott cancelled due to weather. Their next game is 4/1 @Turpin. Now, back to the purpose of the thread...good start Colonels! -
If by "better team", you mean - 50/50 game with a bounce here or there, or a made free throw here or there and the result would have been different, then I'll agree with you. Otherwise, I saw two teams playing their tail off on the big stage, with a very deserving O'boro team coming out on top in the end. I hope Miller is healthy for today's game.

If the KHSAA site stats are correct, he's 13 shy. 380 last year and 607 so far this year.
