I have been told, don't know how good the source is, that at least 5 new players arrived at Cordia this week. Wonder if this is true or not?

No Blue Collar on the list here. Cornett will continue to get the job done and strike out people in baseball. He is one of my favorite players. Stone Cold, I love him.

I was basing my comment on Rod's statement of not having to worry about losing to Knott again this season. Justice was an eighth grader when he came to Knott so he could have enrolled anywhere. Letcher blew the whole deal when they let Raymond go. He would probably have had B.B. as his assistant and the other three could have just as easily all ended up playing at Letcher, coming out of grade school.

I would suggest Cordia take the punishment. Wait for Knott's four to graduate so they can put together a team that so he can finally beat them with.

I understood that they remain open but I found it odd that this one blew up again, especially since we already had the one about Cordia getting hammered.

I have been at the hospital with my wife for a couple of days so I might have missed something. Will someone explain why this thread got pulled back up from a long time ago. I see no benefit from bringing up the whole discussion again.

I'll be interested to see if that same judge decides to intervene in this situation. KHSAA may be the ultimate power in sports but the court always has the final decision. If that judge saw no problem and granted a restraining order last time what would keep him from doing it again.

I may be wrong but after reading the remarks from the KHSAA I got the impression that they were using the signing of the agreement by participating schools as reason for some of their conclusions. Particularly, if the KHSAA rules that a player is not eligible and one goes to a judge and ignores their ruling they are in violation of the signed agreement by the institution. I may be wrong but I would conclude that the KHSAA sees themselves as having the final word. The courts may rule otherwise.

There needs to be one simple rule, you switch schools you sit out one year, regardless of the reasons.

I don't know their names but I was very impressed with one of the guards. He played as smoothly as any kid in the 14th. However, he was having to play out of position, mostly at the point. Their point guard was playing in the baseball state tournament. One forward has some serious hops, not real smooth on offense but can flat out get up as well as any. The tallest boy has quite a ways to go, very mechanical in what he tries to do. I heard one fan say that he will never make a ballplayer but if that fan doesn't realize what Big Al can do with these post players he had better think twice. The Big Al comment, I may have to amend that remark. I am very proud of Al, he looks like he's lost about 50 pounds. I need to do the same thing so good luck to the both of us.

Two of the transfers looked very good to me. The four mentioned above plus the jumping jack that is very athletic will give Hazard a respectable nucleus. Two keys for the team, Wells and Big Al. I am still trying to figure out how Perry made the mistake of a letting a coach like Al get away. I love Wells! I don't have a name but the off guard transfer is going to be good too.

Beverly Tobler Transfer from Allen Central? Transfer from Breathitt County? Other transfers?

I believe he was 15 at Cordia I think he will be 20 at Knott. I may be wrong with both.

Joker, not trying to be negative about your opinion but Hall is far superior to Keita. Not even in the same league? While I'm here I want to analyze the issues relating to KCC's poor showing in the State Tournament. Many reasons but I'll try to highlight a few. 1. Played too many games 2. Wore out from only using 5 players 3. Every team knew how to defense them 4. Offense has not made changes 5. Without Thompson's injury they don't win the region 6. The team had a target on their back. I think you are going to see a different KCC team this year because for the first time they will have a bench that can provide depth.

Chance works extremely hard. That's why I call him Blue Collar. He does all the dirty work that makes him a very valuable part of the KCC team. This past season he was asked to perform at a new offensive position because that's what they needed. He gives his all, fights the battle and usually wins the war. Great kid that I just love.

Not true about the kid from East Ridge! However, I did hear the same rumor. With regard to transfers, I don't feel it would be appropriate to comment on topics I don't know about first hand. I did have Justin Cornett's father explain reasoning as I have already stated. Isaac Caudill is an incoming freshman so he may go wherever he chooses.

They need to play those teams but are limited due to having to play district games. The 8 they must play + those return scheduled games doesn't leave much flexibility. By the way, KCC finished summer play with 2 more 30 point victories against Wesley Christian and Betsy Layne. Have a great summer, and pray that Evan stays safe while in Hawaii.

Expect Knott to use 10 players early in the season. Against most teams in the district I would predict the starters to only play the first and third quarter. However, you might see two starters remain on the floor so the reserves can play with plenty of continuity. It really doesn't matter who starts in these games because the fifth starter's playing time will just about be equal between Shrum and Combs. Keeping this in mind I would expect Hall, C. Cornett, Christon, Shrum, and Justice to start. Whether Andrew or Austin starts the other will be the first reserve off the bench. I see Justin Cornett spelling the inside players, along with Clay Nickles. I also see freshman Isaac Caudill filliing in for Christon and Chance. I also expect Dalton Cornett to fill in at one of the guards to pose as another three point threat. I am hearing that KCC is going to be traveling to the Beach Ball Classic the day after Christmas. Two easy wins today against Belfry and Shelby Valley. Newsome is injured and looked very uncomfortable on the floor. Knott won both games by about 30 points but they only played the starters about 1/2 the game against Belfry. The starters played almost all the game against Shelby Valley. One of the really satisfying things about the wins was the quickness with which Knott got the ball down the court. Once again, Knott was missing Chance Cornett, Dalton Cornett, Justin Cornett, and Clay Nickles. Scary how impressive Knott has been.

Chance is the son of J.T. and Darlene Cornett. Dalton is the son of Scott Cornett, Baseball Coach at Alice Lloyd and Knott County Central.

Knott beat Johnson Central 62-33. Then beat a good gritty Tug Valley team 46-42. Knott was missing four players today. Clay Nickles, Chance Cornett, Justin Cornett, and Dalton Cornett did not play. With regard to other questions, Justin Cornett transferred to Knott to take advantage of duel enrollment classes that are offered at Knott that are not available at Cordia. Austin Cornett has played quite well this summer and the Joker has described the situation very well. Shooters like Cam and an inside player like Evan open up the floor for shooters like Shrum, Austin, and Dalton. Forget the zones, triangle and chasers of past seasons. The game plan is going to change, it has to. One more note, Austin Combs has a cousin who also will be attending Knott this season as a freshman. His name is Isaac Caudill, and he is about 6-2. He is very slender but is athletic and shoots the 3 pretty good. He will definitely get better as the season progresses. He will play a great deal, even on the varsity, as a freshman. Hope this helps the fans here with details about Knott's current status. Most impressive physical specimens I have seen this summer is Wesley Christian School in Allen. They run probably 6'6, 6,7, and 6,8 across the front line. Also have a guard made like a fullback who shoots the three real well. They sure brought out the intensity in Knott.

Second best team I have watched this summer.

The economy has really hit Eastern Kentucky hard. The coal business and loss of jobs have been devastating. If you have a son playing AAU parents have had to spend at least $500 per weekend since the first of April. Add to this driving to Hopkinsville for some practices on Thursday, a whole week in Lexington leading up to the Junior's game, and the fact that the ending of the school year was extended due to a terrible winter. The fact is these players are supposed to be student athletes and school was still in session.

I personally know that there were good reasons.
