Since we had the 14th discussion going and a thread started on this in the 13th, we might as well go ahead and get everyone's input on the top 10 players in the 14th.

 

Questions:

 

Does Cam Justice have a strange hold on the #1 position?

 

Who is the #2? If you go with Justice at 1, do you have Beverly, Hall, or someone else at #2?

 

Where do the returning Cordia kids, and let's assume Omar Keita is back, fit in?

 

Which player is the best kept secret in the 14th? Someone who goes under the radar and is a name that people outside of the region might not know about?

Like the list, but I think I'd have Keita somewhere in the top 10. If he is back for another year, I think we see some real improvement.

Hoskins is good very good. You can't give him an inch of daylight, if you do he'll pull up and knock it down right in your face. Seen him do it many of times.

Keita has to be on the list. He is the number 3 rated player in the country in his class but not rated in the 14th I think he deserves that much. If everyone is wondering no he is not going to Ballard or anywhere else other than cordia. He is working extremely hard this summer on improving his game he is in the weight room and gym daily. He is gaining some nice muscle mass. If you come up lotts creek at certain times of the day you can see him jogging down the. Road. I also think everyone is forgetting about Richard chapman he should definitely be on the list. He is also working hard toning up getting into playing shape he was not in shape all last year what little he played he did not get to practice but just about a month. When he is in game shape he has some serious hops he can get the top of the square with both hands.

What site? I've not seen not nerry major site that even has him in the top 60. Not calling you out,, just where's the source?

Well supafuzz he was on future 150 back a couple of months back but now their site only goes to class of 2017 I did have it screen shot at one time because I said I will probably never see another cordia player (or any other 14th region player) ranked that high again. I promise you I would not get on here and just make that up he very well could move up or down in the rankings but the fact he is listed I think is pretty amazing. He is turning heads in aau. He is still green but his size and athleticism can't be overlooked. His potential is through the roof.

And any player who gets an invite to the John Lucas camp at his age is a top 10 player in the 14th in my book.

 

I'd say Keita is easily top 5, if not higher.

Just another note on that list you linked joker marquis nowell who has been at cordia the last 2 years(7thand 8th) grade year is listed the 54th player on that list. He did not play but about 3 games last year due to injury. I have heard he is rumored not to be coming back. Possibly prep school in ny or prime prep in Texas. Have even heard maybe even perry co. He is not very big and that hurts him. Oumar and him play very good together if he stays he is an incredible player.

Nice. What more can you tell us about Nowell's game?

 

Prime Prep is a big deal (coming from an imported Texan). If you can play there, you can play anywhere.

I'm going to go with my top 4 as:

 

1. Justice

2. Beverly

3. Keita

Obviously, I've seen Christon, Cornett, Combs, and some of the others, but haven't seen enough of the kids like Tobler, the Buckhorn or the Estill County kids to really say much else.

Tere are several videos of him on you tube there is one clip where he won the final season game with about a 25 foot shot and about a complete highlight against R W combs as a 7 th grader he was un real. He only played about 3 games as a 8th grader. He cut his foot really bad on some glass and was non weight bearing for 8 weeks. That really hurt him he would have played a lot last season. He played a lot of minutes as a 7th grader. He is fearless and has a really tough mindset he wants the ball at crunch time. He is an excellent 3 point shooter and ball handler. His size hurts him he is only about 5'5" if he grows he will be a major d1 prospect. His brother graduated from cordia also he did not play much but his brother is about 6'0". I actually heard a guy that works for the newspaper in hindman and this guy has coached and watched a lot of basketball he is a knott co central fan say that marquis is the second best player he has ever seen play in person in his life the first being OJ mayo. The kid is that good. Where ever he plays at be it at cordia or NYC or Texas you will hear from him someday.
