Tere are several videos of him on you tube there is one clip where he won the final season game with about a 25 foot shot and about a complete highlight against R W combs as a 7 th grader he was un real. He only played about 3 games as a 8th grader. He cut his foot really bad on some glass and was non weight bearing for 8 weeks. That really hurt him he would have played a lot last season. He played a lot of minutes as a 7th grader. He is fearless and has a really tough mindset he wants the ball at crunch time. He is an excellent 3 point shooter and ball handler. His size hurts him he is only about 5'5" if he grows he will be a major d1 prospect. His brother graduated from cordia also he did not play much but his brother is about 6'0". I actually heard a guy that works for the newspaper in hindman and this guy has coached and watched a lot of basketball he is a knott co central fan say that marquis is the second best player he has ever seen play in person in his life the first being OJ mayo. The kid is that good. Where ever he plays at be it at cordia or NYC or Texas you will hear from him someday.

Good stuff, and thanks for the update. Keep us up on Cordia as the year goes.

Joker, not trying to be negative about your opinion but Hall is far superior to Keita. Not even in the same league? While I'm here I want to analyze the issues relating to KCC's poor showing in the State Tournament. Many reasons but I'll try to highlight a few. 1. Played too many games 2. Wore out from only using 5 players 3. Every team knew how to defense them 4. Offense has not made changes 5. Without Thompson's injury they don't win the region 6. The team had a target on their back.

I think you are going to see a different KCC team this year because for the first time they will have a bench that can provide depth.

Cahall at this point hall is probably better but hall will be a senior and 18 years old keta will be a freshman and is 14 years old. Give keta 4 years and see how good he is. Western Kentucky already offered him last fall as a 8 th grader. Keta has NBA potential I think he could be the best player ever to come out of the 14th region. When he came here last year he was measured and he was 6' 10" and a half. I saw him this past weekend at the school and he has grown I think he is probably 7'0" now and put on some nice muscle mass. I think people will see a different oumar this season. On a side note it is in the works for his brother to come to school here his brother is 12 years old and is 7'1". He has only played soccer but I think he is young enough that he can be taught.

It's all good, feel free to disagree whenever. That's what makes the board go and I'm not going to take it personally.

I like Keita much more than Hall because he's got upside, potential, and you can't teach his height. Both actually have pretty polished games, nice coordination, and skills for big men their size.

Not trying to hate on Hall because I think he's one heck of a player, but I honestly thought he got outplayed by the big Ayers kid from Bowling Green once KCC got down to State. There's no shame in that because Ayers was a heck of a player who I thought was pretty underrated on the State scale and looked like he would be able to be a good player for a smaller school that was a good fit for his skills.

I thought Keita might struggled with the language barrier and translation last season, but now that he's probably had a chance to round out things like that, I think we see a different player next season. I was honestly blown away by his skill level seeing him go through drills at the John Lucas Camp as a middle schooler and think he's going to be special once he puts things together. While I'd favor Hall on offense at the high school level, I'd have to give the nod to Oumar on defense.

If I'm putting together a team just to play in the mountains, I like Hall a little more because he's able to score the ball better, especially looking at the number of spots he can score from, and you still aren't giving up much by taking him because most "bigs" in the area are 6'4 or so and he's still going to be bigger. You can definitely do some things in terms of running more offense through him than you can do with Keita. I also think one thing that might hurt Hall is that he's been around so long and people have seen so much of him that it's gotten to the point that they are more familiar with his weaknesses than they may be with others (i.e., like I may be doing with Ayers); I can definitely see that happening.

If I'm putting together a team just to play in the Lexington and Louisville type areas, then I'd probably want Keita instead because he's a little bigger and can offer you an eraser at the rim that even teams like that have to respect (as long as he's playing fairly well and staying out of foul trouble). I really think Keita would be better suited to handle the banging, contact, bodying, etc. that goes with playing in those regions than he is to play in the mountains where officials tend to call things tighter and are quicker to blow the whistles.

Who was the Thompson kid for KCC that got injured? Much of what I'd seen from them went back as far as Cam's freshman year (and even before), and he's not one that's coming to mind right off, but that shouldn't be taken to imply he's not good or anything, just that I probably hadn't seen him if he was a younger kid that didn't play in State this past year.

:scared:

Has he enrolled yet and if so, is he playing AAU with anyone?

No he has not enrolled yet but if every thing goes well he should be here by the fall with all that's going on in his country and all.

Gotcha. Best of luck to him. I hope he makes it and is able to maximize his gifts.

Does anyone know if the foreign exchange kids who were at Hazard this past season are expected to be a part of their program in the coming year?

It's my understanding that all 3 will be eligible to play this year. I don't know much about them but I was told by a person close to Hazard's program that the one who is a point guard is really good.

I spoke with someone from H-town last year at the Republic Bank Classic who seemed to think they'd be good players as well. I was left with the impression that there was one in particular who was maybe a little better than the other two, but that all 3 were really good. I was also given the impression that one of the players was really somewhat raw, but was a great athlete.

I'll try and find the post I made on it at the time, because I really respected this Hazard supporter's opinion, and if I can find it, I'll post it.

Two of the kids are Serbian, one is Angolan.

IRC, which I may not be doing since I'm trying to remember a 5 minute conversation from December, I was thinking that one of the Serbian kids is the one that is supposed to be best and is a bigger guard/wing type body that maybe plays the point. Also (and again IIRC), the kid from Angola is the one who is really athletic but raw guard/wing, but is a kid that can really, really get up and should be able to show off some flashy dunks.

I can get some info on the three. I know someone who will know the details. I'll give him a call.

Would be much appreciated if it's anything you can share. I think everyone is anxious to know.

I don't know their names but I was very impressed with one of the guards. He played as smoothly as any kid in the 14th. However, he was having to play out of position, mostly at the point. Their point guard was playing in the baseball state tournament. One forward has some serious hops, not real smooth on offense but can flat out get up as well as any. The tallest boy has quite a ways to go, very mechanical in what he tries to do. I heard one fan say that he will never make a ballplayer but if that fan doesn't realize what Big Al can do with these post players he had better think twice. The Big Al comment, I may have to amend that remark. I am very proud of Al, he looks like he's lost about 50 pounds. I need to do the same thing so good luck to the both of us.

I say Big Al because I've stood on an elevator with him at the State Tournament. I'm 6'2 and look up to him. Dude is tall.
