Those kids don't realize just how lucky they are to get Kevin Goins as their coach. Great knowledge of the game; eats, sleeps & thinks about baseball 24/7.

When you also factor in the Carter G. Woodson Academy students all play for Douglass now instead of playing for their home attendance area schools as they did in the past before the Academy moved to that building when it opened & it helps them in that area. The school was probably a 4A sized attendance school its 1st year & had more players than a couple of the other 6A sized schools in the city.

Oh the perils of not keeping your mouth shut on social media.......:lol: It's completely laughable right now on what has been put out there by this kids dad & if he said it the way he did, I feel sorry for him for not knowing how it would be spread from Pikeville to Paducah in about 7 minutes.

@mooremiller31 what is Nimbo's coaching history? I know what he did as a player, but I don't know anything about him as a coach. Where has he been lately?

Anyone hearing anything on this opening? Seems awful quiet as of now.

@TAC, you sound frustrated from my comment, so I will clarify. I say he gets nothing from UK in the form of a scholarship, but they will attempt to save face @ the end & offer him something as you said a preferred walkon. They have skipped enough local talent under Coach Cal to convince me they will do the same to Moreno & that is take away nothing from his talent, he is exceptional. They have passed on Taveion Hollingsworth & Shelvin Mack almost completely during the entire process only to offer something @ the very end that isn't up to par IMO.

Good luck to him for sure, gonna be an uphill fight the entire time with the consolidation of Allen Central & South Floyd into Floyd Central & with Prestonsburg in town. Betsy Layne being on the far reaches of the county, they are kinda stuck out in the middle of nowhere, kinda like what Phelps is up against in Pike Co.

Is he local to that area right now? Does he teach? If not does Hoptown have the resources to get him a position in the district doing something other than what they would pay him as a high school basketball coach, because I am assuming that he isn't independently wealthy and able to sustain just off of a coaching supplemental salary.

Wonder if he had been around Lexington his entire life, because if he has, that's going to be a little bit of a culture shock for him. I am in no way saying anything bad about Paintsville, I grew up in a surrounding area of there. I am saying that now it would be very hard for me to go back there after all of the conveniences of Lexington.

Where did the QB transfer to?

@HoopsKnowItAll, I just looked it up, Coach Hutchinson last coached @ Dunbar during the 09/10 season & Dunbar won the state title during the 15/16 season so there was quite a gap between that happening. I cant say that Hutchinson had one thing to do with Chalk winning that state title.

@HoopsKnowItAll, what do you think about that move for Station if he does take it over? Good, bad, indifferent?

@Straitshooter, I have heard several names interested in this position already, one is on staff there currently. The other two, out of respect for their current schools I wont mention their names since they are both Head Coaches.

Honestly surprised that Champ Ligon hasn't been mentioned as a possibility for this position.

Hasn't been much stability or success after Coach Seamans left. After they won State in 2007 & returned to the Sweet 16 in 2009 they have taken a step back & haven't had a winning record there since the 2010/11 season.

I look for both UK and UofL to both make a late offer of some type but nothing substantial, to keep in the good graces of the Commonwealth, but in essence its just to save face. Same rerun on a different channel.

Is the AD/Coach not a good fit, not utilizing what talent they have, or is it something else?

Pretty sure that Douglass only had one helmet, but I've been wrong before. now for my real response: GOOD GRIEF! As a former AD I don't know how you could substantiate the sheer cost of this during a Title IX review, there is no way to balance that out no matter what you do for girls athletics.

No, & I'm sure this wont be a popular opinion with some, but unfortunately this is what happens when you have super weak Districts in a Region, a team that really has no business being there ends up on the wrong end of the buzzsaw by drawing a team like Scott Co. in the first round, meanwhile teams like Henry Clay & Lexington Catholic out of the 42nd & 43rd who would be much better competition in a Region didn't make it out of much tougher districts.

I also don't have a problem with football playoffs either.... And I was the AD of a school that was pretty much always the lowest seed in the football playoffs starting out.
