They have interviewed 8 from the info I have.

Maybe I am in the minority on this, but I dont understand why teams drop from district play. Having to buy out of contracts for those games could sink a team financially (I know it would for the program I was over as it would have totaled 15k. I cant get my head around how this would do any good for a team.

I feel that it wouldnt matter if he has interviewed for a 2nd time @ one of the schools, he will interview @ the other just to feel them out to see where he stands.

Unfortunately it is extending beyond social media as to the parameters that coaches & athletic directors are being asked to monitor student-athletes. A coach in my city was let go a few years back due to "lack of control of his team outside of his watch" They were getting into trouble out in the community & it was all shoveled back onto him to take care of the situation. Meanwhile the parents were not holding up their end of the bargain of actually being parents. The last few years we had several instances of Facebook & Twitter posts that were walking a fine line between Freedom of Speech & outright harassment. We would receive the information, contact the parents & the student & take it from there. If we removed a student from a team, there was not once an argument from the parents (which surprised me honestly since they would argue over everything else) All coaches had to put into their team rules that any member of the program had to abide by the rules that were set forth in the student code of conduct & the teams rules. Parents & the student had to sign the form @ the parent meeting.

has the commissioner released the moratorium on scheduling yet? I know that many have agreed in handshake fashion, but that means little until the contract is signed.

Jim McKee @ Scott County does a great job with this. Somewhat harder to do with city schools that have multiple middle schools feeding into them. Example: Bryan Station High has Bryan Station Middle, Crawford, LTMS, Leestown all feeding into it for high school. No way for all of them to run the same O/D in reality. some of these are split schools too, part of Leestown feeds into Dunbar, part of Crawford feeds into Henry Clay. I'm sure Louisville is the same way.

I did a Masters while coaching(assistant & interim head coach) & a Rank 1 in educational leadership while I was AD, as well as taking classes to be CAA. It was awful to say the least.

I got hosed a couple of times by committees unfortunately. Each & every time it ended up going down in a big old Bon Jovi "Blaze of Glory" Had 2 parents on the hiring committee (stipulated by our SBDM policy:ohbrother:) that voted for the guy they were calling to complain about less than 2 weeks later..... I didn't have an answer for them, but I asked if they remembered arguing with me for that candidate & not the one that I was trying to push through. When admin is afraid of parents, the AD is in a no-win situation on making good/great hires, BUT that is another story.

I have hired before the 30 day period before. Its a supplemental position.

@Rambo4343 I agree 100% with what you said. I always kept a short list just in case I was caught by a surprise opening & it truly saved me a couple of times. I never had a pool where I had to interview 10 though, so that is why I am thinking that I moved a little faster than some of these are, haha!

Surprised @ the slow movement of hiring by some of the schools on the list. There are 4-5 schools that I figured for sure would have been filled & working on compiling a staff by now. With spring ball in the not to distant future (never have been a big fan of spring ball btw) I figured that some of these teams would want someone in place with at least a partially assembled staff so the student-athletes could begin to know who they are & what to expect.

I have known the AD @ FCHS for many years, no way that there was not a contract under her watch. Contract has to be signed, copied & returned or it isn't a done deal. I would badger the AD to get the contracts back if they were dragging their feet..... too much @ stake for the team that is hosting in the year that the other team is trying to drop (Franklin Co. hosts this year) At minimum, the team that is dropping should have to find a replacement team to play the game in their place & if thats not possible, then show me the $$$$$$$.

@CoachBuckett Bylaw 22 mandates contracts & it is your basic guarantee to keep this type of issue from occurring. When I was doing football contracts for the school I was at as AD, I would do $5000 dollars per game forfeiture fee.

@CAP 3 are out of state teams; Sullivan Central, John Burton & Lee. South Floyd is in Floyd Co. & will soon be consolidated with Allen Central if I am not mistaken. June Buchanan school is located on the campus of Alice Lloyd college, & Letcher Co Central They played Sullivan Central in Daytona & John Burton & Lee schools in a tournament in Wise, Virginia.

I would @ least honor the contract for this year to avoid having to dish out $$$$, but that is just me. No way I would pay the buyout on a football contract unless it was extremely necessary for some unavoidable reason.

I was interested to see this so I went through the schedule for the last 3 years, She has outscored the opposing team 6 times this season & 10 times for her career & tied them twice. Thats amazing! I didn't have a lot of crossover @sweet16. I do feel that kids do have more outside things that are pulling them from the time commitments that after school athletics require.

Actually, the exact opposite @sweet16. I was the AD @ a 6A sized school & without middle school student-athletes playing up on softball we wouldn't have had enough players to field a team.

Bonafied change of address usually takes care of this with no problems.

Roster numbers in softball in high school grade levels are down in a lot of places. Without middle school students playing up, there would be a lot of teams that couldn't field a varsity team.

its not even that @Wildcat18, haha. They have been through some coaches over there for sure. Not sure how that opening will shake out honestly. I guess its up to what the administration can puzzle piece into their school.

1-5 in the 43rd (only win against Tates Creek who is 4-17 overall doesn't usually do it for me as saying that they are a "good" team. Nothing against them as the 43rd is tough as nails this year for sure, but I think they have a little while to go before they make some noise.
