A FG in high school is a scrimmage kick, it becomes dead when it reaches the goal line. If the kick reaches the goal line and is no good, it is simply a touch back and the ball is placed at the 20 yard line. Just like both missed FG's last night. Pay attention and you will hear the whistle blow the play dead when the ball crosses the goal line. On a PAT you will hear the whistle blow the play dead at the kick. If the ball doesn't reach the goal line it is essentially the same as a punt.
