  1. Meade's defense exposed Male's weakness...stop the passing game and don't give up any big plays. Make Male one dimensional. Again, if Meade doesn't muff a kick-off Male only scores 10 points. Male only had one long sustained drive (started at the fifty)..the opening kick-off. Male offense is great between the 20s, but struggles in the red zone. St X by 10
  2. ColtPride, just because I like you I will still keep trying to educate you. Schedules are made years out, typically not year to year. Yes, some teams we have played are struggling this year. It’s not Meade’s fault John Hardin is down (but normally a Power house every year)…JTown got rid of their coach midseason…Doss has great athletes, not sure why they are struggling. Warren East is 3-4 and could be easily 5-2…Central Hardin- Top 10 in 6A….Male…#1 in 6A….North Hardin leading passer in the state 5A..RB 1,000 all-purpose yards already this year. So really if you look at the schedule as a whole before the season Meade’s schedule is as strong, if not stronger than Desales. Just so we are clear both Desales and Male are great football programs with outstanding players & coaches...but so is Meade. Since we don't play during the regular season its hard to tell what would happen.
  3. “You need to change your name to Justahomer.” I’m sorry I thought you were an adult. Anyway, I really didn’t think you could “really” lose or win a scrimmage since teams really don’t play starters the whole game and the refs really don’t call the scrimmage like they would an actual game. I don’t know about Desales, but Meade didn’t practice all week on a game plan to win a scrimmage, we practiced on plays and defensive alignments for the upcoming season. But I will admit Desales puts a lot more into winning the scrimmage than Meade. I see Male wins 17-0 its domination…Meade wins 10-0 it’s barely getting by. Ok..Yes Male was able to gain yards between the 20s, but couldn’t score (I will take that anyday). Meade showed we have some work to do on offense (Getting both FBs 100% healthy will fix a lot). But Meade also showed Male is human, not this unstoppable force when playing a team with defense.
  4. It’s amazing every time a team doesn't score the points everyone expected it’s the weather fault. “I would like that game played in dry conditions and it would have been running clock like the JV game earlier in the week”.You assume a lot. Yes scores sometimes don’t tell the tale, but in this game it did. Male is not the offensive juggernaut everyone thought they were when faced with a real defense. I guess Scott County won last year because it was cold.
  5. Well I would expect that point of view from a Male fan. I would hardly call 28 pass attempts content. Males Oline did play well. 17 points is hardly domination, especially getting the ball at Meade's 25 on a muffed kick-off. They barely scored from there. Meade's offense did struggle, but losing the top scorer and the 2d top scorer at 75% will hurt any offense.
  6. These are the facts..yes Desales won the scrimmage. The varsity on varsity score was 21-7, in which the Desales head coach said after the scrimmage the catch in the end zone was not a catch. So really 14-7 varsity on varsity. Meade played its starting FBs every other series. Meade played its second team in the 2d qtr. Desales played their starters into the 3rd. But yes little ole Desales won the scrimmage.
  7. Well ColtPride...Desales didn't impress us either for a little ole 2A team. Why don't you move up with the big boys. That's right Desales would rather ran the score up on a struggling program like Fort Knox that's moving to 1A. At the scrimmage we were playing all our kids. In the 3rd you guys still had your 1st team in. I don't think Desales beats us in a regular game.
  8. I guess you had to be at the game. You would think 325 yards would yield more than 17 points. And really 7 of those points came on a muffed kick off giving the ball to Male on the Meade 25. Those two players account for and 700 yards of total offense and 8 TDs. Imagine taking Mattingly and Cain out of the game...Male would struggle was well.
  9. Well Coltpride, First of all the kids didn't make the commitment to play on fall break. Second, if you don't like it send a letter to the post commander. Since you know so much about the military. Sorry Desales could come to Fort Knox to pad their stats.
  10. Believe me Male gave max effort. Meade's defense was outstanding; it had nothing to do with Male looking ahead. Meade lost one of their starting FB/OLB in the 2d qtr. That allowed Male to get a few plays on that side. Not to mention Meade's starting ILB (other starting FB) was still nursing a sore ankle. If Meade doesn't fumble a kickoff and lose their starting FB (leading scorer) and the other FB was 100% the game is even closer if not a win for Meade. Meade shut down Wakefield & Mattingly (That’s 2 D-1 players). Male had zero big plays; I don’t think Male had any plays over 20 yards. Hopefully Meade will see Male again with both FBs healthy. I will say Male is a heck of a football team and still the odds on favorite for the 6A title.
  11. We will see Friday night "Dream" Machine. Male has a great team no doubt and the odds on favorite to win the 6A title, but anyone who thinks Meade cant match up or win friday is in dream land.
  12. CKSportsFan, I see you are not a Meade County fan...LOL (That’s ok). However, I think I and 88 were talking about the competition level in ky, not win loss record or statistics of records. Yes I think anyone would understand that if 200 teams play 50% will be winners and 50% losers. But again we were talking about competition level and lopsided scores Examples- Male has scored 197 points compared to 28 scored by opponents. Scott Co is closer scored 261 points compared to 121 scored by opponents. Highlands scored 155 points compared to 53 scored by opponents. Johnson Central scored 189 points compared to 45 scored by opponents. Iroqois scored 187 points compared to 43 scored by opponents. Pulaski Co. scored 197 points compared to 33 scored by opponents. Scott scored 170 points compared to 35 scored by opponents. To your point Meade is not the only team teeing off on overmatched teams. The teams above accounted for 1,356 total point...gave up 358 points. Trinity & X have been teeing off on teams for years they outmatched, but that isn’t a problem. What 17 or 19 state championships between them in the last 20 years..Cmon man!!!. I’m sure scheduling can be difficult, especially when you factor in drive times. No one wants to drive 4-5 hours and play. Other things to consider is the cost and logistics. Who wants to ride in a school bus 4-5 hours. With today's public budgets not all school systems are going to pay for charter buses. Not mention most of the time the traveling team loses. Other things: No one said D-1 wasn’t a big deal, it is!!!, just that we should celebrate any student-athlete continuing their education and playing a sport they love. The rest of your points fall into the category of “No Da”
  13. 88..I totally agree. I run a youth football league. Yes, parents have said as much. They are pursuing fall soccer and baseball over football. Concussions are on everyone's mind. In 10-15 years it could be Soccer we watch on friday night.
  14. Two points: "Mean as much as putting 100-plus yards and a couple TDs on an overmatched winless team." 1. The problem is in my opinion, competitive football is on a decline in Kentucky. Just look at the scores on any given friday. There are really only a few real down to the wire close games. Half of all the classes (1A...6A) have teams with losing records. Then you look at the mess in the districts and how they are aligned, lots of quality teams are left playing poor competition (Again its not the teams fault). That's why I believe Ky teams are more and more seeking teams to play from outside the state. That's also why we have a low number of D-1 recruits playing for elite college teams. Ky only has had a few teams ever ranked nationally (Mainly X & Trinity). We need more facilities like Core 6 and IMG, we need winter indoor 7 on 7 competitions (Go Hard Elite) that players can join to continue to hone their skills. "Even D-II and D-III and even NAIA are still good." Look everyone wants to play for a big time D-1 program. The problem is we and the media (News Paper..Twitter..Rivals..Scout) only talk about players going to D-1, making it sound like going to a winning DII, DIII or NAIA program is not success. That's why all the kids and parents are so focused on D-1. We should be celebrating every player that gets to play at the next level.
  15. Tyler Addesa Senior FB/LB is by far the most physical/strongest FB in the state. Addesa is athletic and has great football speed. Punishes defensive players. 43 carries...315 Yards...6 TDs...(7.3 Yards per carry). Not to mention also starts at OLB. Only can imagine what his numbers could be if he was a featured back like Brooks and others. Obviously, Harris is in a league of his own. Is receiving D-1 interest from Indiana State, Wofford, Holy Cross, Eastern Michigan and Ball State.http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1532760/tyler-addesa
  16. Hoss403..The score was closer than the actual game. Now John played a great game. However Meade also missed an x-point and should have kicked a Field goal. Not to mention John's first TD was questionable. No way the Ref on the goal line on Meade's sidline sees that fumble. You couldn't even see the runner the play was over..thats why no one immediately jumped on the ball. Looked like another Scott Co call. John got awful lucky on a few pass plays as well. We drop 2 interceptions. Meade totally dominated John in the second half. John had no answer for Meade's power running Game. Again John played well..
  17. This is the link: 2014 KY Football Stat Leaders I think you had to play both games to be on the list.
  18. 19. Don't see how Meade can drop from 6th to 7th. 2-0 and only 6A team...to hold their opponents scoreless.
  20. I agree 100%...a public school can improve the product by having a great program to offer. Enticing families to move to their school system based on what the school has to offer.
  21. We looked good..Obviously it was a scrimmage..we have a few things to clean up, especially mental breakdowns (Penalties). But as a whole we played physical and made a lot of plays. I thought our defense played the run very well, and for the most part they knew their keys and assignments. We need a few adjustments with our pass defense. We played a lot of kids Friday working on depth. We replaced a lot of good players this year, but this team has the potential to perform and win as well.
  22. I think the issue is most parents in the public school system don't have the ability to choose to take their kids to any school in the area. Most are mandated to attend a particular school based on their residence. Obviously the public vs private debate won't be solved until a league featuring only private schools is developed. Schools from TN..KY..OH & IN could develop their own football league.
