  1. University Heights is always a favorite to win the whole thing. They may be catching Murray at the right time, while UHA is on a hot streak of their own.
  2. You're probably right. I guess I just finally realized how no matter how you do it, the big or private schools are still at a heavy advantage. I just can't see why the smaller schools still support the "open class" system in basketball anymore. Surely they would have the votes to change it if they voted as a block.
  3. I looked and post 1970 I see Edmondson County in '76 and Paintsville in '96. It has been 24 years since a small school actually won. Kentucky doesn't need the rpi, we need classes to be fair. It takes 5-7 good players, but picking 5-7 boys out of a pool of 250 is not the same as picking 5-7 out of a pool of 1500-2000.
  4. No bigger than a 2A football school. They would have to qualify for the All A tourney.
  5. Who was the last small public county school to win the state championship?
  6. Can't I just root for LSU and against Clemson because I hate the ACC or is that against the law yet?
  7. Elijah Sindelar was a pretty good quarterback, and I'm pretty sure he still holds a state record or 2.
  8. I have a terrible memory, but I did remember they had a huge advantage, with 950 or so students, against the other 2A competition. Was that loophole ever closed by the KHSAA?
  9. Wasn't that the year that Mercer County was a 6A school playing against 2A competition? I may not be remembering right, but I think I am. I always thought that was why they expedited the merger so quickly, to beat the reclassification. I may be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.
  10. Wow! I'm quite impressed by the margin of victory. JH is for real a state title contender.
  11. Agreed. Personally, I'm probably gonna hate it when MNH plays my Caldwell County Tigers, and beats them 3 times this year. This has been a wild year to try to predict in high school and college basketball. After doing some research, JH looks like a very good team this year and will be a tough team to beat. They look like they play very good defense, have length, and can score with most anybody. This game should be very exciting. May the best team win and everyone stay injury-free.
  12. I'm sorry. I was wrong. Madisonville lost to Collins at the KOB. Still a quality squad.
  13. To be honest, rankings shouldn't even be released until mid January. It is anybody's guess who the best team is. Didn't Covington Catholic lose to Lexington Catholic too? Male beat Madisonville in the KOB, if I remember right. If I had a vote I would probably vote Male #1 to be honest. Madisonville may have their hands full when they have to face Webster County. About my "WKY Complex", if you live West of I-65 it seems like you have to prove yourself over and over in order to get a little respect. All I was saying is that in my opinion, Madisonville has as good of a team as anybody in the state right now.
  14. So we would have a Public school #1 and a Prep school #1. I believe if Madisonville wins this game, they have as good of an argument as anybody to be #1, but I keep forgetting that most of the voters believe that Kentucky ends at Elizabethtown.
  15. Thanks! I'm just too lazy to do my own research. JH looks like they have a little size or at the very least 15 fouls to give from guys 6'6 or taller.
  16. Madisonville is a very good team, and I fully expect them to bang it inside unless JH has a couple of really good inside players.
  17. I counted four 2nd region teams among the listed state champions. 1967 Earlington 1985 Hopkinsville 1992 University Heights 2011 Christian County
