JV Championship- Beechwood vs. Ryle Predictions
Not sure of the makeup of the entire lineup, but I do know the beechies have started a freshman on the hill each of the last two games.

9th region predictions
Going with the Tigers as my darkhorse. Saw online they have given up fewer runs than any other team in 9th. With emergence of John Randolph as a legit hammer in the rotation, they are very deep on the hill. Combs is probably their 4th starter, and I saw him shut out Lloyd couple weeks ago. Got a text that said he did same last night vs Bourbon County in a 7-0 Tigers win in Paris. They do struggle to score runs, but if defense and pitching win it, they have a shot.

Most annoying thing you saw this season?
That's all I am talking about. It needs to stop when pitcher is in his motion. Smack talk is gonna happen. Watched a game the other night where a pitcher struck out a kid that is headed to college to play baseball, and as the kid is walking off the field the pitcher made a comment to his players "Guess maybe I'm D1 too". Next time up, kid kits one about 380 and trots the bases slowly, and staring at the pitcher. As he hits home plate, "Not yet kid". That's funny, and if the hitter is willing to take one in the ribs I see nothing wrong with it. But the stuff that comes to a crescendo as the pitcher is winding up is bush leage, and I see no place for it. Again, I liken it to the bench standing up and screaming while a basketball player is shooting a free throw. Not allowed, and rightfully so.

Most annoying thing you saw this season?
Exactly my point. And I can assure you it does not happen at college games, have been to about 30 UC games this year, and a handful at UK and Louisville. You may hear some noise, but it stops as the pitcher steps on the rubber. To be fair, I have singled out one team, who happens to be the worst as far as for 7 innings, and perhaps that has hurt the feeling of some. This certainly is not isolated to one team, happens just about everywhere.

Most annoying thing you saw this season?
Actually, Highlands has lost all three games I have watched them play, and have scored 1,2, and 0 runs, so careful what you assume. These are freaking high school kids. Not grade schoolers.

Most annoying thing you saw this season?
Exactly. Good natured chatter is good, as long as its done at the right times. It has crossed the line. It builds as the pitcher goes into his windup, and can be construed as nothing other than an attempt to distract. One kid in particular for Highlands is especially obnoxious and out of line. Nothing but bush league, IMO, and needs to be stopped

Most annoying thing you saw this season?
All the chatter coming from the dugouts. This year seemed to be worse than past. Highlands was by far the worst, but they werent alone. I blame coaches and umpires for allowing it. I posted in another thread that the bench in hoops is not allowed to distract the free throw shooter, no idea why pitchers aren't given same courtesy.

NKY JV Tournaments Brackets
Lol. If those teams need some random dudes post on a message board as motivation, they have bigger hurdles to jump than the BW JV team.

35th District 3-Way Tie-Breaker
Holmes would not be in the equation. Only games involving HC, BW, and CCH. Too much at stake to allow a random draw to determine it. Cov Cath was just handed a ticket to the regional. If I am a player or coach at Holy Cross I am a bit bitter right now. BW, with the way it turned out, has no gripe, they lost to the Colonels.

35th District 3-Way Tie-Breaker
Thanks. As for how I would do it, any way to put value in the seed games. Each team threw their ace, so runs allowed, differential, best uniforms, anything.

35th District 3-Way Tie-Breaker
Any word on the outcome? IMO, what a ludicrous way to determine this. Completely devalues the games these teams played vs each other.

Blake Tiberi Reaches 200 Hits
IMHO the best hitter in the area, and I cover both sides of river. Great swing, seems to always square the ball up, even when he makes outs (which isn't very often).

2013 Freshmen 9th Region Tournament
Are you sure it was the fans? Ive been to several HHS games, fans rarely say anything other than cheer for their team. Now, their dugout, particularly one kid, is the worst Ive seen all year. Chatter is one thing, but the things that group does is bush, and IMO should be stopped. Its not just the birds, garbage goes on everywhere, and I wish the coaches and umpires would put a stop to it. Its one thing to chatter a bit, but clear and blatant attempts to distract the pitcher should not be tolerated. Kids on the bench at hoops games are not allowed to yell at a free throw shooter, why should there be any difference in baseball?

Nacarius Fant - Bowling Green Purples
Unfortunately, on field performance has little to no impact on how a scout or rivals ranks a kid. Its all about camp performance, and what camps they attend. If indeed this kid went to a camp and ran a 4.6, and is not 6'3, you answered your own question about why the 3 stars. All that means is some coach will be deemed a great developer of talent if he shines at the next level.

Agree 100%. I refuse to ask my kids to stop playing.

Is Erik Goetz the new Beechwood Basketball Coach?
Umm.....not sure ALL the spring talent. There are some fairly talented, and fairly fast, kids on the baseball team that I am sure would help.

Drew Barker commits to Kentucky
Again, you need to stop with the recruiting terms and stay out of it. A kid going into his senior year w/o offers is NOT "heavily recruited". He may be recruited, but not heavily. There are kids in the class of 2015 that have several offers already, especially at QB. Drew was heavily recruited, multiple offers prior to his senior year.

2013 Freshmen 9th Region Tournament
If they are freshmen, and attend the school they are playing for, how do you interprate that as stacking the team? Is rhere a rule that states if a player reaches a certain level of skill he cant play?

2013 Freshmen 9th Region Tournament
So you are equating the frosh tourney to a participation trophy? If its that irrelevant, why play it? In my mind, any chance to win a championship, at any level, only breeds confidence and experience. If its not worth winning, why play it? Teams like BW, Brossert, and NCC face a dilema. Do they play kids up where they can help at a higher level, which due to sheer numbers means the play nearly all 7th and 8th graders at the frosh level, or do they keep them down. That certainly gives a distinct advantage to the bigger schools. If I'm Mullins at BW, I bring down a couple for each game just to get them innings on the hill. If they win, good. If not, they got work in.

Who are the current top ten teams and pitchers in the 9th region?
Ive always told my wife size doesnt matter, so I wont go there. I will say that BW starts 3 frosh who hit 1,3,4 in the lineup. Its not unusual for them to have 4 frosh and 2 sophs on field. That to me is more a reason a team like Ryle should beat them handily.

Holy Cross 7 Covington Catholic 1 5th Inning still in progress
Long way to go, but say HC wins this game. Whats the tie breaker? Under that scenario these two teams and BW are all 1-1. Who is seeded where?

Who are the current top ten teams and pitchers in the 9th region?
Um...It was actually first and second, but don't let facts get in the way. And, if you can somehow correlate for me how who was pitching for Ryle effects the job Jason Suchanek did vs that offense, I am happy to listen. I wasn't talking about the game in general, I was talking about pitchers, which I thought was the point of this thread? Was the score 3-2? Was Jason pitching well against a very good Ryle offense?

Who are the current top ten teams and pitchers in the 9th region?
You have to take into account who these kids are pitching against as well. Dunn, Suchanek, Heppler, Cain etc do not get the stat stuffer games. Nobody has made mention of the game, but Beechwood was up on Ryle 3-2 after 4 innings before it got rained out. Ryle scored its two runs on passed balls. To hold that team in check is impressive, and Suchanek did it. Hunter Dunn is a top 5 pitcher in this region. Period. Some kids get to pitch in meaningless games against mediocre teams. I dont care about ERA, I care about opponent. I dont think its changed. Kuebbing, Suchanek, Mains, Cain, Bartels, and Dunn are the cream of the crop. As for teams, I still think Conner is the team to beat, followed by Ryle, Cov Cath, New Cath, and Beechwood. I am telling you right now though, you better get Beechwood now. With the atttition from other schools, I think they and Cov Cath will be the teams to be in 2014.

Beechwood 7 Boone County 4 (JV)
