BG Invitational (4-19-14)
Help me understand - This event was put on to help teams get in some scrimmage games so they can get ready for the real AAU season. Don't understand why all the hating. All the negativity is focused on one coach and one program. From everything I am hearing, I was there, that all the other teams (KY Travelers, Kentucky Elite, KY Wolverines, KY Warriors, and Western Kentucky Elite) were gracious and thankful for the opportunity to play as well as to play against some of the best soph talent in the state. Those stressing over wins and losses are misguided as the key to any successful AAU program is how many kids that program sends to college. If rumor has it right which we all know how rumors are that this was a FREE event for all the teams so that perplexes me even more on the discontent. I take several things away from this event: Ky Travelers with a freshman loaded squad will be a hard out playing at the 16 level; Eli Wright is arguably the best sophomore in the state; and the 16 & U KY State AAU will be exciting to watch.

Knox Vegas Heat 4/11-4/13
Western Kentucky Elite will bring 3 teams 17 & U; 16 & U; and 15 & U. Their other 2 teams (14 U & 13 U) will be playing in Lexington at the Ky State AAU. Talent in Knoxville is loaded. Great way to start the AAU season.

AAU 2014
Western Kentucky Elite will have 5 teams playing this summer (17, 16, 15,14 & 13). I know the 17 & U team will be competitive with Cummins (Anderson County); Savage (Warren Central); Tinsley (Silver Creek); Geralds (Monroe County); Harper (Allen County); Hall (Jackson County, TN); and McDaniel (South Warren - Hargrave Military Academy Prep). That's all I know now and will report more later once rosters are confirmed. It's amazing that the state tournament hasn't started yet and the interest in AAU is so polarizing...

Ranking The Districts By Region
4th Region District 14: Year end and year out the regional champion will come from this district. 1) Warren Central 2) Bowling Green 3) South Warren 4) Greenwood 5) Warren East..... Upset could come with Greenwood but I take the top 2 and give the field. District 15: History has this district with an occasional threat to the crown. Very even this year. 1) Barren County 2) Monroe County 3) Glasgow 4) Allen County... District 16: A two team race as usual. Top end is solid with the bottom end struggling to compete with the top teams in the region. 1) Clinton County 2) Russell County 3) Cumberland County 4) Metcalfe County.. Metcalfe longs for the days of Blevin's & Company District 13: Good young talent in the district means wait till next year for any type of post season run for this group. 1) Logan County 2) Russellville 3) Todd County 4) Franklin Simpson.... Overall, Dragon Fire - agree with you 100 %

4th Region, 15th District
Has Glasgow playing Monroe County and Barren County playing Allen County. A year that the seeds do not provide a clear picture of how even all the teams are.....Prominent players are: Charlie McCoy (Sr.) from Barren, Dillon Geralds (Jr.) from Monroe County, Jake Sikes (Jr.) and Dyllan Harper (Jr.) from Allen County, and Anthony Walker (Sr.) from Glasgow. Any predictions?

Inside 3rd Region (2/16/14)
I think its a two horse race and will give the field. Apollo - best college prospect in the region, solid point guard, shooters, and just enough rebounding, and the 3rd Region Coach of the Year. Owensboro - best bigs in the region, athletic perimeter play that when shots are falling will be an extremely hard out. I think these two teams "B game" can beat everyone else's "A game". However, that is why they play the game! Bring on March

Apollo 79 Owensboro 75
Region 3 Top 2 teams: Last night could be a prelude to what some think will determine the Region 3 Champion. Box Score: Apollo shot 54 % from the field. Owensboro shot 48 % Apollo was 12 - 18 from the line. Owensboro 23 - 26 from the line. Apollo with 18 assist. Owensboro with 7. Apollo had 17 turnovers. Owensboro had 13. Individual scoring: Owensboro: Justin Miller had 23, Darion Marrow had 15, and Aric Holman finished with 17. Apollo: Sam Sergeant 12 points & 10 assist, Eli Wright finished with 21, Nick Wells had 17, and Caleb Coomes had 15. I take away from this game the following: Apollo has multiple perimeter weapons, strong point guard play, and the Regions top college prospect. Owensboro has as talented a front court that you will see with Miller and Harmon. Athletic at the guard / wing spots. I can see why these two teams are projected to meet 2 more times. Overall, great high school game, great environment.

Tyler Carr ruled eligible
Good for him. Seen him play this summer but didn't look quick due to a bad wheel. Hopefully, with some R & R and therapy he can get that knee back into shape and showcase his scoring skill set. Best of luck!

KY AAU Teams 2013
AAU basketball = pimps and players... wanna be coaches who buy their talent... the Kansas example is another reason why the top layer of this sport is tainted! in my opinion it's about the 'B' programs that take NAIA talent along with marginal D 2 talent and teach the game the way it is supposed to be played with respect, high energy, and passion. Getting better. Those are the kids that need AAU. Most coaches think it is their greatness that is winning games but in reality it is because they have the better talent. Then they want all the credit for their super talents going D 1. Most would be surprised that they would go there anyway. Eyes don't lie and talent doesn't hide. Feedback welcome -

KY AAU Teams 2013
Besides the top two (Travelers and Magic) who are some of the other teams in Ky that will be competitive. I heard over the weekend about another team out of Louisville that was good, Louisville Prospects. What happened to the Louisville Storm? Also, who are the better teams in Ky from the North, East, South, and West?
