  1. I like Scott County in this one, but as someone who covers the team it will be interesting to see how the Cards handle adversity if Henry Clay can score a few times early or take a quick lead. Other than a fake punt for a TD against GRC two weeks on their first drive, SC hasn't had to rebound much. Then again they blocked the XP after the TD in that game so maybe they are capable, they just haven't had the need too. Still the SC defense is one of the fastest I've seen all year at getting to the football, and if they can contain Bell and Jackson from making plays in space and stop the cutbacks then it could be a long night for HC. The Cards are coming off a bye week, and a fall break week that has the team getting in tons of extra prep and SC is for the first time 100 % healthy on offense this year. They have their most experienced and maybe best all-around running back in the lineup - He missed the first five games of the season with a knee injury. He had 126 yards in 3 TDs in the first half two weeks ago. SC 42-28.
  2. Any team? Your recent track record against a team from Georgetown would suggest you slow your role just a bit. A whopping 15 points in two combined games a year go, and a nice goose egg in 2011 from your beloved Pioneers... granted SK may have improved this year, which they probably have, but enough to beat ANY team in the state??? If so, the progression from one year to the next must be off the charts!!!! Dont try taking down the best team in NKY for the last bajillion years or so, when you can't even compete with the third or fourth best team in your own class. And IF you get your shot at the Rocks this year - a word to the wise: "When you come at the King, you best not miss."
  3. Agree that Daniel should at least be in the discussion. The sheer numbers aren't as impressive as Fants, but that's because Scott County runs the ball 50 plus times a game. 8 TD receptions on 18 catches. 14 scores all-purpose on 38 touches (8 receiving, three rushing, three return). If there was a statistic for the impact he has on the game, Scott Daniel's would be off the charts... Not saying he's should win, but he more than deserves to be in the discussion. 4. Would like to see BG, X, Scott County and Highlands play Trinity's schedule and see what their records would be at this juncture. And then see Trinity play each of their schedules. I'd be willing to guess we'd see all four of them with a few losses, and maybe even a couple with zero wins. Trinity would more than likely be undefeated as well playing any of the other top five schedules besides their own. Could be wrong, but the competition from most out-of-state schools is considerably higher than you find in Ky. Not all, as BG and Highlands have already proved, but most. BG is VERY tough, and wish they could get a shot at the Rocks, but until a KY school beats Trinity, I think they're tops in the state.
  5. Scott County leads 42-6 at half.
  6. EAST - You're right about the strength of schedule, but I'd rather not focus on that. I'm simply asking (no matter what class, who you play etc. etc. etc.) is the scoring clip considered high? Historically.
  7. Going over some stats for my weekly Scott County preview and the Cardinals have scored a state's best 238 points to this point. If my math is correct (which as a journalist, is very questionable sometimes) Scott County is scoring a TD every two minutes and 45 seconds. 34 Total TDs on 83.55 minutes of possession. My question is... while this looks like a high rate to me, I'm wondering if it does to everyone else? Or is this pretty common for some teams in Ky? (Only been involved in covering KY HS football for the last two years - not much experience as some of you guys).
  8. Scott County 63 - Central 20. Final.
  9. Madison Central adds a TD late. 63-20 SC with 3:49 remaining.
  10. 63-14 Scott County. Cards JV started second half.
  11. Scott County leads 56-14 at halftime. Cards have 390 offensive yards in first half (301 on the ground). Scott Daniel with three receiving TDs, plus an interception and a punt return TD. One TD came after he was knocked down in the endzone and caught the ball laying on his back. Kid can play with anyone in the state IMO. Madison Central has made some nice drives on offense, resulting in two TDS, but cannot stop Scott County on offense. Indians also ran two fake punts on 4th down and converted both. They have some strengths, just not tonight.
  12. SC pick 6. Cards 63-21. 3:39 left.
  13. McKee finds Daniel on the late TD pass. 56-21 Scott County. 5:36 left.
  14. Noah Hughes rumbles in from 16 yards out for another score. 49-21 SC. 6:38 left.
  15. Dunn scores for PRP around the left end. 42-21 Scott County. 9:08 left.
  16. Theo Price with a 5 yard run. SC leads 42-14. 10:11 left.
  17. After a few back and forths, PRP takes one to the house. 35-14 Scott County. 17.1 left in the 3rd.
  18. Clay McKee to Clark Griffin for a 26-yard passing TD. SC leads 35-7. 9:42 left in 3Q.
  19. PRP out-gained Cards 256-251 in the first half. SC with 246 yards on the ground, though. Cardinals' defense is the difference so far. Forced three turnovers - one a scoop and score from a DL and the other led to a TD.
  20. This thread has been comical if nothing else. Kinda sad I read through all seven pages. Have not seen either team play this year, but know that Barker is a player. Saw Simon Kenton last year twice versus Scott County and it was over before the teams met at mid-field for the coin toss. Both games. If SK is as legit as this guys says, a possible SK vs SC matchup in the playoffs would be a treat!!! I'll go along with the rest of the state (as someone uniformed about either team) and say Connor by 7 in a high scoring affair. For no other reason than an Elite 11 QB is on their field. But I very well could be wrong. Like I said, don't know much about either team.
  21. First loss for SCHS JV team in quite some time (20-0 combined in 2011, 2012). Nice bounce-back win for Ryle.
  22. No, no. I meant describing him. Probably should have said "playmaker." All around, he's a player. If anyone is high on SD, it's me. (I created the flyer above per Coach McKee's request).
  23. Palmer Ward - Ranked by Ray Guy/Pro Kicker as one of the top punters/kickers in the nation. He also is the captain of the drum line and at half time switches from his football pads into his band uniform to march with them. If SC goes a long way this year, he has a chance to break the state's PAT record as well - a perfect 16-16 in PATS this year.
  24. As cliche as it is, Scott Daniel is just a player. Plain and simple.
  25. Cards add another TD on a 65 yard run. 55-14.
