Agreed. I too have spoken to 2 key players and they were smiling as they told me how spirited their 1st open gym with Coach Listerman was. I am happy for the boys, their parents, and the fans.

There are at least a half dozen or more CCH & NDA grads that teach and/or are administrators at the HS & MS alone and I am sure a few more in the 3 elementary schools in district. They all do a fantastic job and FTIS is happy to have them! Point being, this hire is really nothing new in FT over the past fifteen yrs or so. Great hire! Go Birds Go

2 different arguments. All anyone had to go on 4 yrs ago was what was on paper and what info his references provided. Hindsight is always 20/20 is a saying for a reason. So this is a moot point. In your original post on this topic you said the kids were shortchanged and that implies a lack of effort I never witnessed. It also does not speak of Coach Flynn's impact on these kids off the court, in preparing the boys for life etc. Also, even if the "best" athletes in the school had shown up to play it may not have even been enough to win a district championship given the team that NCC put on the floor last season, let alone a region or state championship. You have clearly lost this one and now it's getting worse :jump:

Yes, they were afforded the best coach "available" at the time in Coach Flynn, who had a resume like no other that applied 4 yrs ago. He had over 500 wins at bball schools like Holmes and Ashland. Not too shabby. As far as being challenged, I cannot say since I was not at practice, but I have no reason to think otherwise. The man has to know what he is doing based on his career record. Players who make plays put teams at a championship level. You lose this one Sweep. Just sayn....

And a great day it was to put an end to it! You can tell by watching that both teams are very good. Fun game to watch. Good crowd / atmosphere / weather. Saw TOG in the CCH dugout. Always a pleasure to talk with him.

One of the nicest kids in the school to go along with the grades & athletics!

The low numbers yesterday are due to a variety of reasons. Several bball guys are running track or playing baseball & I can think of at least 2 injured boys that would've been there if healthy. Also, the incoming frosh (current 8th graders) have football workouts on T/TH too. However, those same boys are currently playing an AAU session and practice 1 day a week and then have a game 1 night. They all skipped football one day last week to go to their bball game. There is allso at least 1 7th grader on that AAU team as well. The team is coached by Joel LaFrange & Mark Finfrock and if I recall this is their 3rd or 4th consecutive session. Relax folks, both Coach Hunt & Lykins were at the open gym yesterday and I am sure they offered constructive criticism as they saw fit. I do agree that a head coach being named would help increase attendance at the open gyms...

I got ya. I think Coach Feldman has done very well at Brossart & hope he continues to do so. I agree that Highlands is a tough job, but no more so than any other varsity job in KY. Each school has it's own set of challenges i.e. Low student population, hard to handle parents, low talent level, outdated facilities, poor coaching, poor team chemistry and so. Or a combo of any of these issues...fact is coaching is not as easy as it seems on the surface.

The ball is rolling at Highlands and all involved are working hard to pick the next head coach. Just to reply to a couple of earlier posts: I think TAC knows the boys job is not a step backwards, but thx for the dig. The MS 8th boys own 2 KBA State Titles in the 2000's and at least one of those was in the "open" division that included AAU & school teams. Feldman coached one & I wanna say Kevin Bundy coached the other, Although it could've been Matt Stephens. It hurts my brain to think back that far. There have been several names mentioned on here and these guys must actually apply to get the job. I fully believe Highlands has some good players ready to go & the future looks bright as there are several bright spots in the MS program. When a couple of these classes get to run together it will be fun to watch!
