Allen cut his teeth on fastpitch and is due a large amount of credit for their success!!! Always gets the shot and treats the players as his own. I would put very few people in the same conversation as Vi Gerding (HHS all time number one fan..RIP) and Allen is that type of person. We are blessed to have him. So blessed, we even look the the other way when he slips and supports that evil school on the hill... NCC.

Tyler Robinson was a beast last night. Multiple run stuffs and the sack late in the game was a thing of beauty. Kid seemed to be on a mission. Also really liked Beal at corner and hope he is ok. Plays the receivers tight, trusts his wheels and does a nice job of run support. He will hit you. Also glad to see New and Cain back. They both looked almost back to 100%. The break seemed to help them heal some. Line play seemed a lot better and is starting to open holes and the way the backs ran last night, they only needed a small one. I must give a shout out to the QB for Dixie (wish I could remember his name). Kid can fly. Once he broke the line there was no catching him. Fastest player on the field last night. Play calling seemed a little predictable but it was working in the second half so no sense in changing. Deep balls were a little off but I think another week of healing for Cain and New will open the intermediate routes to take some pressure off the deep ones. No secret but the book on the Birds passing game is either swing passes or hail Mary's. Two new targets with good hands will add another weapon. Just in time for you know who coming up. Overall the Birds played well. Took advantage of the defenses turnovers and won the field position battle. Also liked the long field goal attempts. Kicks were off just a little but JD will make more than he will miss overall.

The ground game was stellar for the Birds tonight led by Kendall. But all the backs ran well. Multiple times the second effort netted 3 or 4 extra yards. The air game was pretty much limited to swing passes but some nice YAC made it effective. Would be nice to see some 8 to 10 yard passes and see what the recievers could do with it. Middle of the field seems open a lot but play calls must not be designed to look there.

Still7-0. Hhs. Halftime. Nothing to write home about. Defense a pick and a fumble recovery. Other than that pretty uneventful

I feel like this applies as well to this HHS team. It's been mentioned by me and others that he is clearly a pocket passer. He can be very successful if he stays in that role. Shorten some routes, stay in the pocket longer (yes you might have to suffer a hit or two doing so but that's how good pocket passers are successful) and gain some confidence. In theory this might slow the rush a bit due to LBs having to stay home and then open the deeper routes. Which all in turn helps the running game. Easier said than done but you have to start somewhere.

JOAT. I believe it was you that stated we would not see the same Birds team like they were at Scott County. That seemed to imply there would be changes. Some, including myself threw out some ideas. The kids seemed to, for the most part, have lost some intensity and drive from what I saw Friday. I saw a fired up Ryle team come out ready to fight after halftime and the other end of the field... Not so much. Score was tied and the Ryle bench was pumped and into the game. Didn't see that in the Birds side. Of course it's easier to see when they are right in front of you. Paging "Cowboy"... Get In That locker room and light a fire under their tails!!!

Cain is hurt and for that kid to be hobbling like he was last night he is truly hurt. He is a gamer and most kids would not have even suited up with what he has. He is getting better but really needs time more than anything. Looking forward to a healthy Mitchell soon to see if he can help. I've been a little hard on the QB but he really needs to stay in the pocket and forget about rolling out. When in the pocket and set throws as good as anyone and looks like the D1 prospect. On the move, very below average. All that being said, if the line can't buy him any more than the half a second they give him then time to scrap the passing game. Keep an extra blocker in and the kid will find recievers. Last dig and I'll leave him alone. Third and long and you have a seam, use that 6 5 frame and get the yards needed... Don't slide...

I'll even throw the name out there... Stick Doherty back there for a limited number of plays... Even if he doesn't carry every time, he definitely will clean someone's clock and open some holes. Reminds me a little of Mike Herrmann, RIP, with his defense but if we needed a hole opened all 160 lbs (minus the six inch neck roll) would do it.
