Closer than I would have guessed?

Was this the first basketball game you have ever attended? Did you not read any of the threads on here about officiating? It is the way the game is being played and the way that it is being called this year. Thought the officials did a fine job. Part of the job of the official is to control the flow of the game. Letting McGovney's melt down early in the game get overlooked was OK. Rare to see a kid get slapped for 2 T's, Holbrook deserved both of them. There were no flagrant elbows or cheap fouls. I think the guys that did the game probably see both of these teams enough and understand the magnitude of the game (yes it makes a difference on how the game is called wheter you like it or not). Nothing was cheap, both teams played hard. I hate Tic Tac calls, but it is what it is. The boys in the paint take a beating (they don't play Tennis) it's part of it. If you called every foul as it is written in the book no teams would have players left by the end of the first half.

After watching the Campbell/Brossart game the other night I would have thought Brossart to be the favorite even though is was a Home game for the Cross. The game was close until the 4th quarter.

Campbell with 20 points. Saunders and Trentman combined for only 10 points. Great 4th quarter for the Cross.

I think Holmes may be the best team in the 9th!

Campbell dominated the game early. He rode a lot of pine later in the game due to 4 fouls. Knockleman had a great 4th quarter. Saunders must have been injured, he sat on the pine, but not for foul trouble. Brossart did not shoot very well tonight. They seemed lethargic.

Not the same Brossart team I saw against Campbell County. Holy Cross is out hustling and playing them.

I'm OK with these rankings. NCC is going to be hard to beat. Holy Cross has the best chance for the upset, but Newport, if they ever play together, could be dangerous.

Wow, with no dog in the hunt I'm shocked to hear the whinning from the Campbell fans. I sat in the Campbell section and heard the typical reffing from the stands, normal stuff from any fans so I am shocked to see a few Campbell fans thinking the refs homered them? Tough physical game. both teams played hard, McGovney got away with a benefit of the doubt no call. Either side could complain, Holbrook getting beat up? Please. Elbows and jerseys being grabbed? duh, watch a game, it happens all of the time.

The Cross taking care of business as expected. Any other stats? Campbell impressive again it sounds like. No one to stop him on Boone.

Wow, what a great game this evening. Packed house and great fans. One of the best atmospheres for a high school game. Brossart is VERY good. Loaded at every position. After Campbell came out of the gate strong, Brossart controlled the game. Campbell did make a nice run in the 4th to get it back to around 10 but Brossart took the game back over. Congratulations to Saunders for scoring 1,000 points, hard to do for a Brossart defense first team. Somebody said there was only like 15 kids in the history of the school to do so! He has the complete game. He controlled the game. Very quick and strong. The Trentman kid is amazing. He was all over the court with deflections, blocks and rebounds. The dunk he pulled off at the end of the game was unreal. Played with a lot of passion. Burns played well. Strong as an ox. Has some good moves and still looks like he has room to grow. Guard play is very strong. They ran 3 kids out there that had no fear of any pressure and played in your face defense on the other end of the court. They were the reason for a lot of the Campbell frustration. McGovney was about what I expected, still in the recovery mode. He is such a great player, his frustration showed a few times tonight. I do like the Wilson frosh, if he gets a little more aggressive he will be a nice player. Holbrook is a great player as well. The intensity of the game got to him too. 2 T's is uncalled for. Russell needs to get control of his players as I heard a JV player got a T as well? I know the rivalry of this game raises everyones temper, but they need to keep their cool. Campbell is going to be very good over the next couple of years. While losing Nate McGovney, they have a nice corp of underclassmen, including his little brother, that will make some noise in the years to come. I hope to check these 2 teams out with McGovney at full strength come districts. I'm assuming they are held at the same place?

Stats mirrored the score of the game. Very close battle. A few shots made here or there and we have a different winner. Congrats to Holmes.

It gets a little less simple when a man like Campbell seals his man and gets the lob pass.
