  1. Your right, I am talking out of my you know what again, but Coach Faust is a nice guy and great coach and would like to see him do well...............................
  2. Ryle, yes, Cooper lets wait and see. Think about how things would have gone if there never was a Ryle or Cooper High School. Heck Owen might still be coaching:thumb:
  3. If there is soooo much talent in Boone County how come there have been sooooo few Sweet 16 births? Go back to around 1950 and see how many 9th region titles have been won by all this talent in Boone County. I would venture to say that there is around 6, Boone I think has three and Ryle has two and Conner has 1. It could easily be less than that. Dont talk about all the great talent in Boone County without thinking about the results that have been produced over the years................................. And..... there are some great coaches at Conner, look at their other programs and there are great coaches....................
  4. Sorry folks, Owen Hauck aint leading Shaun Alexander out of the tunnel any time soon. Time to face facts and come to the conclusion that being in a county which has 4 county schools and one growing independent district it is going to be hard to be at the top each and every year. Maybe if they dropped down to 5A it would help, but I dont see it happening, talent is spread too far in this county.............................
  5. Dave Faust = Best Coach In Northern KY Hands down Still plays a big school schedule when he is at a small school. Still finds a way to do it. Depending on the draw I wouldnt be surprised to see him get a win in the tourney.
  6. Your right, they were not all students, I should have been more specific on it being the student section, but I am serious when I say that there was probably close to 1000 people in their section. They started on the floor and went all the way to the upper deck at Conner High School. Just doing some estimation, Conner holds around 3700 people to 4000 depending on how well the fire marshall is paying attention, and on the night I am thinking about they had roughly 1000 people in their section, what was so neat about it was that all of the cheers that the kids were doing were done by everybody. It was a truly awesome site.
  7. Why not Phillips at the lead off? He makes contact, can steal a base when healthy and can even bunt when given the chance. This gives a chance for Stubbs to bat second and see more fastballs if Phillips gets on base and Votto is in front of him.
  8. I also hate to see other schools who think they are on level with CovCath. it is an art form in Park Hills, anywhere else it is just acting stupid.
  9. Cov Cath with out a doubt. They came to Conner on year and if they would have been all on the same level they would have filled one side and that is saying a lot, probably close to 1000 stuents came to the game. They also broke the bleachers at Conner and they had to be repaired the next day, it was a mess. As for the class I heard from somebody that went there in the early 80's that there was a class but not any more.
  10. This is such a slippery slope, and without solid proof it is hard to distinguish between right and wrong. It is frustrating to see the same teams win year in and year out but in cases that I am familar with notably Highlands, I can say that there isnt a team or coaching staff that works harder or more hours than they do. Believe me it hurts to say this but we ask for truth in this thread and the truth is that if you look at who is winning most of the time they get the dedication of all involved and that is what is what wins. And yes, if you take the coaching staff at Highlands or trinity or X and put them in another school they will succeed, maybe not in one day week or year, but eventuall they would be winners because of how they do things.
  11. Sorry for not completing my thougt, I meant that if Pete gets in the HOF it should be notd that he was banned for life, your right as of now banned for life means no HOF, but I think that his negative record should also be noted.
  12. Hall of Fame should be about numbers and accomplishments. Shef should get in, so should Bonds, McGwire, Clemens, and lets not forget Pete. In the end I think a fair way of doing things would be to explain ther era they played in as part of their HOF bio. For Pete he should be in and it should be noted that he eas banned for life from baseball, as he should have been.
  13. Great win for Coach Stamm and Conner. Nice to see them get a good win.
  14. Conner is 11-16 with around 5 OT games, a basket here or there and their 16-11 an looking better, but as Coach Hicks says "Ifs and buts..........everyday would be christmas"
  15. And.... If you are a talented jockey in the Kentucky Derby and your horse is the pre race favorite but refuses to get out of the starting gate, can that jockey win the race? For those who do not get what I mean, a coach can only coach so much, if the players choose to not perofrm at their ability there isnt much a coach can do. Believe me I think Hicks is trying to win but maybe thsoe players need to look within in themselves for a little insentive, sorry to be so rough on high school kids but there comes a time when they must make up their mind to compete at a higher level, I just hope that it wont be too late for these guys.
  16. You got it, Frosh is also over rated, besides at the end of the day how many schools put JV and frosh regional winners on banners in the gym? BTW, congrats to coach Garnett and those Jayvee Cougars for winning the tournament, no matter what it is always nice to go home with the trophy!
  17. Dusty has some big decisions to make, there will be some real talent that will have to play in AAA, I bet the reds AAA could give Kansas City a good series!
  18. Having a good JV team is very overated. If the jayvees were that good they would be starting varsity, Any coach who fealt he needed to bench his 6'8 senior has no problem playing the players who need to play.
  19. I forgot, but Heisey (sp) plays OF and could be in left
  20. I had seats in left field one game when he pitched and he gave up a HR that was the hardest ball I have ever seen hit. I think Milton Bradley hit it, I quickly got up and left my seat because I was scared to death about his pitching, i figured if he gave up another one I would not be able to get out of the way.
  21. Thats who I was thinking of, how about Juan Guzman, played for the reds laate in is career
  22. Questions the reds have this year 1. Will Stubbs continue to perform as they think he can 2. Who will be the starting rotation 3. Who will replace Rhodes in the pen 4. Aroldis Chapman??????????????????? 5. Who plays LF 6. What if Janish cant hit 7. If the reds struggle and attendence goes to the dump, how long will it be before Phillips, Arroyo, and any other vetran gets traded for prospects. (ps I think the Yankees would give up something for Arroyo right now)
  23. Coach Hicks has taken some dreadful teams to the regional tournament before. This team has talent. If the light comes on for these kids then they could be dangerous. Coach Hicks has had a way to motivate his teams over the years. I think that once those seven guys who could be playing their last game ever realise it then things could be getting better. But it has to come soon, time is running out......
