  1. This is news to me and I have two nephews on the team.
  2. I think we have to wait and see if this is Campbell County on the rise, or, Highlands in decline.
  3. There is so much talent in Louisville compared to the rest of the state that the super district teams are the best 4 teams in 6A most years. There is too much talent there for Trinity to hog it all. That being said, if you want to get recruited, the most important thing you need to do is get on the field. For many good players, making sure they get on the field trumps winning HS titles. If Trinity were playing an in state schedule, they would be their normal dominant program. Playing a regional schedule against similar programs helps keep their kids challenged and helps in recruiting. Scott County and Male have emerged as tremendous contenders in 6A and deserve a lot of credit.
  4. The Dixie loss to Cov Cath, more specifically the way they lost, merits a complete redefinition of expectations for this program. BW 27 - 20
  5. Actually, this would the year that SK would be rebuilding. They are starting a sophomore QB and have an injury prone RB. However, they have gotten several under the radar transfers from Scott, Holmes, Campbell and Boone. Players that are not superstars, but contribute and add significantly to depth. The neighboring programs to the east of Independence are weak and SK is open enrollment. Next year's team will be better just because of the maturation of the QB and the improvements in team speed.
  6. I believe Dixie is in the same district as HHS next year. I believe Cooper is 6A next year.
  7. For years all we heard was "Nobody in NKy will schedule us". Now your going to complain now that is no longer the case? Although I wish Nky 6a was more competitive. FYI, I believe next year there will be 2 6a districts in NKy as both Connor and Cooper move up. Interesting that all of a sudden everybody in NKy is willing to schedule the Birds.
  8. Very true. Anybody who has followed Ryle's program knows that developmental level football success , or lack thereof, is generally not a predictor of success at the varsity level. But with Ryle, you can see the talent is there. I have not seen the same level of talent at the developmental level the last two years that I saw 5 and 6 years ago from HHS.
  9. Prayers to Mustang Nation and to the family of this girl's family from Pioneer nation. Remember to hug your kids every day. Jesus never promises us tomorrow.
  10. Cov Cath has the opportunity to settle the issue on the field. Often , this is not case until the post season. However, the last several HHS freshman and JV teams have been less than overwhelming. Combine that with closed enrollment, and you have the formula for decline.
  11. If I was a Cov Cath supporter, I would not be happy. Boone, Dixie and Campbell are all pretty comparable opponents and Cov Cath's results are much more convincing. This is not Dale Mueller's Bluebirds any more.
  12. Ohio high schools are Huge!!! Many have nearly 4000 kids on campus and they are not next door to each other as they are on this side of the river. Even SK and Ryle would be small schools by Ohio standards.
  13. There is more to it than just this most recent result. Have you been paying attention to the recent freshman and jv teams HHS has been fielding the last 2 years? Definitely a sharp drop off in talent. Throw in that HHS is now, from what I understand, basically closed enrollment and you have the formula for decline. One has to speculate if Mueller saw this coming.
  14. With the emergence of so many up tempo spread offenses the athletic demands for all positions , including OL keep escalating. Olmstead's particular skill set is probably better suited for power running offenses rather than the up tempo spread offenses. His blocking at the LOS is elite , whether pass or run blocking. It is his secondary level blocking, more than 5 yds from the LOS, that has the FBS folks concerned. Several D2 schools have already indicated they will offer. He also has strong interest from Patriot league schools. Olmstead also played with a lower back injury last year and had to wear a back brace and get electrical stimulation before games to get on the field. This hurt is Jr. year tape. He is 100 % health now and his level play of reflects it.
  15. Doesn't explain Moore's performance. Especially the lack of targeting Hedger. I throw to 6' 5" TE being covered by a 5' 10" corner, even if he is covered.
  16. CCH appears to pay more attention to the kicking and kick coverage game than most programs. Special teams plays were key and big momentum changers in both games. It was more of Boone and Dixie not being as well prepared in this area. Boone put up more of a fight last week.
  17. Dixie has 3 D1 commits. Two of them are Hedger and Johnson. I can't remember the third. For a team with this personnel and a Sr. QB, this result is flat out embarrassing. Two punt returns for TDs on ridiculously poor tacking. Penalties killing drives. Moore throwing passes to yard markers. This team has a 6' 5" D1 TE. i think he caught 1 pass. With HHS laying an egg last night, CCH should be the favorite in 4A, and #1 in NKy.
  18. SK and Ryle should have swapped opponents. Scott Co should have played SK and Ryle should have played HC. All four teams would have been better off.
  19. Congratulations Rebels! Nice to see the program getting the monkey off its back!
  20. Not necessarily. It just means that the issue needs to be addressed in conditioning for those athletes that are not in track. One of the coaches on staff needs to focus on speed training and anybody not in track needs to participate.
  21. Would not have mattered if SK played a gcl schedule. To get to the next level, SK needs to improve team speed. That is the Achilles heel of the program, not scheduling. Every team SK has lost to in the playoffs they lost because the opponent was faster. No level of scheduling will fix this.
  22. SK was tested last year by Collins. Campbell and Dixie twice.
  23. JV also got substantial playing time against Ryle, Cooper and Bullit Central last year.
