  1. Was wondering if anyone has heard, is Carr stepping down to become principal?
  2. It looked like a NewCath palyer was hurt and didn't play. I can't remember his name. Is he out for the rest of the year? If I remember correctly, he played significant minutes. How will that impact the next game?
  3. Whatever happened to Courtney, did she drop out of NKU?
  4. Just seeing if anyone as heard about coaches leaving or asked to leave their program? Or in your opinion, should any be asked to leave?
  5. Big win for the Wildcats. Well coached game by Rod Snapp.
  6. Does anyone know who all was on the All Tournament Team?
  7. I think one difference is one tournament is sanctioned by the KHSAA and the other is not (All A Classic).
  8. Response to Malachicrunch: "36th is a blind draw. Last season the two top teams drew each other in the 1st round. It's a joke." I don't think that is accurate about the top two teams drawing each other in the first round last year in the 36th. NCC and Highlands met in the second round but by looking at the records the top two teams in the District last year were Newport and NCC (by overall record since the district records were the same). *Newport was 29-6 (district 3-1) - beat Highlands and Dayton. Lost to NCC. DNP Bellevue. *Highlands was 14-10 (district 3-1) - beat NCC. Lost to Newport. DNP Dayton or Bellevue. *NCC was 19-8 (3-1) - beat Newport. Lost to Highlands. DNP Dayton or Bellevue. * According to the KHSAA website.
  9. Holmes dominated the 4th quarter. It was 54-49 at the end of the 3rd quarter. This was a very good game (closer than the score indicates). Newport deserves much credit since they lost everyone from last year. I went to this game thinking it would be over in the 1st quarter. To have a close game at the end of the 3rd was surprising. Newport ran out of gas and options in the 4th quarter.
  10. Garland ended up with 24 points.
  11. Final 72-51 Holmes but it was a much closer game than the score indicates. Holmes had to dig deep.
  12. 5:26 in the 4th 61-51 Holmes newport is missing too many shots now
  13. Halftime 39-35 Newport being led by sophomore Daylin Garland with about 15 points.
  14. What about John Turner of Newport, 9th Region player of the year two years. Anyone remember Billy Bonner?
  15. What does Miller teach at Moore? Is he only a coach?
  16. It was a closer game than the score reflects. At half Newport was down by 3. Going into the 4th they were down by 9. It didn't get out of hand until the last 2-3 minutes of the 4th quarter. A valiant effort by Newport. I hope they keep their heads held high. It has been a memorable season! :dancingpa
  17. Wow...I have to say I'm shocked at how quickly this thread turned from celebratory to who behaved worse - the kids or parents/fans (not even 24hrs!). Every fanbase has a small group that show bad sportsmanship and we all can share examples (but let's not). What happened to a few people don't represent the whole program/city? I'm also surprised by how people don't want to throw kids under the bus but keep sharing their names in a forum. How about we stop throwing names/actions out and keep this positive? Congratulations Newport on a momentous accomplishment and keep on shocking the State! See you at Rupp! Go Wildcats!
  18. What is causing so much turnover at Bellevue (other than the losses)?
  19. I don't have an affiliation with either school. I have no horse in this race I was there watching as a neutral observer. How about the double dribble called (devin) against Holmes when the ball was knocked loose in the fouth period (no one had possession) or the illegal screen called with seconds to go against Holmes. Scott was throwing forearms and moving on every screen they set and no calls were made against them, they need to be consistent, but that is hard to do when you are officiating a game that a friend of yours is coaching one of the teams. Just to be clear here Devin and Steve were friends during high school and after. Devin should have removed himself from this game and since I am aware of that relationship it makes several of his late game calls suspicious. That is my biggest issue is the conflict of interest not that Holmes lost the game. Granted Holmes could have done more to close out this game but officials are human and some are biased whether you want to believe it or not!
  20. My view of the game was a little different. I felt the personal relationship of the official and coach of Scott (Steve)helped influenced the game especially in the fourth period and in overtime. Several calls swayed the momentum and they were bad calls against Holmes. The games wasn't won or lost by the coaches or the players, Devin (ref) became way to visible when the game was on the line and that was a shame.
