A few players for Owen were all over their game....not just Gayheart......they ALL played a great game.......

To say that Dixon and Slavey are the only players to show up is not kind and obviously not an accurate statement........there was really good defense.. for a while.......i too wonder why our players were not put in place down court defensively during that last free throw.

Scoring is not the only way a player can contribute on the court ....that is however what they seem to be graded on....Taulbee also stands in the top portion of the team in rebounds and steals. She also handles the ball very well. As far as WV getting a gift from the officials....if you were there you would have seen that this went both ways.....South got their gift first, they just weren't able to reap the benefits of it. WV was given the "same" gift and was able to nail it. WV played with minimal turnovers, good guarding, and as one with South...hence the outcome. None, if any of these factors were observed in the NCC game.....hopefully they will realize this very soon.....

Wow...where to begin.....in the efforts to repeatedly express "opinions" on who "knows" what is going on, what should happen, and yadda yadda yadda for this team, I certainly hope these girls are not reading these posts. There is a wide variety of talent at this "small" school, and where it's not developed yet that allows them to beat or be competitive with "talent pool" sizes of Boone, Ryle, etc. players are utilzied, where the coach puts them. Blame on lack of ability for the season is going from the coaching to the players. Facts may be the facts....Coach Miller knew before taking the job the school size and talent pool WV had......work with it. The players are doing the best they can under the direction. The players are playing for the love of the game...to win what they can....and to go as far ...as they can.....period.

Accurate point. It will be interesting to see how all will fold out for this season.

The fact that Judy and Clinkenbeard will be able to play this season, and the addtion of Taulbee to the crew will only enhance the performance from last year. If you are expecting drama, don't. They are not new to each other. All the guards spent the off season sharing playing time. One more comment to note, Hoffa may not have performed like a true point, but you can't dismiss the stats: tied with Sandlin #1 for defensive rebounds, followed behind Dixon and Sandlin in offensive rebounds, and led the team in assists. I look forward to watching an exciting season.

Word from down south....WV beat Anderson by 2 earlier today.....

Of the girls who played the one spot throughout this game, I did not see where it was "apparent" the defense was too much pressure they could not handle. The problem could have been not taking more outside shots as opposed to relying and hoping the 4 and 5 spot girls to work on points inside......which did not happen.....what, 12 missed "up and close" shots. If your going to call out one position in this game thinking not having a "quarterback" perhaps cost them this game. (why else would you bring this up) when these girls have had an awesome record breaking season, then all I can say is....you obviously haven't seen many of WV games this year.

WV came out to redeem themselves, playing hard and tough defense, Those who think they would come back to town and perhaps let their performance down south dictate the remainder of the season, are mistaken.

What needs to be said about this group of girls .... muchy of this team has been in the making for many years. In both the 7th and 8th grade years, they were the first Walton girls team to go undefeated. What you are seeing now has been the hard work and dedication during the entire off season for these girls and thier families for, I'll say this again, many years. Not to mention the two to three particular parents who has coached and taught these girls.
