  1. Surprised nobody has mentioned Chris McNeil from Cooper.
  2. I thought the 8th grade class was supposed to be pretty good?
  3. Is this the kid from Holmes? Heard they have a couple really good players who will be frosh next year that likely see minutes at the JV level.
  4. Don't know the exact specifics, but I was told if Barbee didn't find a new job by a certain time or only made a certain amount this past year, Auburn would owe him a nice paycheck....he and Cal are tight. Probably why an announcement hasn't been made. Indirect way of giving Auburn the middle finger so his guy can get paid.
  5. Sadly, the NKY all star games have slowly lost interest over the past few years. I was given the green light by the coaches to try to do something different to get interest back in this game but there are many road blocks that make it difficult...the biggest being the only time to really hold it is in June, when school is out and most kids just want to enjoy their summer.
  6. I heard about this last December while covering an event (Braxton wouldn't be at PCC his sr year)...didn't take the person serious because I figured PCC would run through the 14th his senior year and he'd want a chance to play at Rupp. Good luck to Braxton. Great kid on and off the court and no doubt he will be great for Hargrave.
  7. To answer your questions... 1. I'm interested to see Ziegelmeyer this year for CCH and see if he lives up to the hype that I've heard about him. I expect AJ Mayer to start to make a name for himself as a sophomore but the key for the Colonels will be the senior class of Heppler, Sweeney, Massie, and Lenhof. Also think the soph to be class could push those seniors to get better over the summer as CCH will have enough depth that it will be a war for minutes. 2. Holmes obviously loses two studs in Bolden and Avery but return enough talent and experience to likely be preseason #2 in the region. Mullins and McClendon will be as good a guard duo as any other in the 9th region but how Arnold, Moore, and soph to be Raavai Commodore transition to major varsity roles will determine how good they can be. Jaiden Green could be an X factor as either a starter or 6th-7th man, along with senior shooter Brennon Englemon. 3. For Dixie, I expect senior Holmes transfer Ian Brolley to step in as a starter once he becomes eligible in December. He has had a great summer from everything I've heard and will be a Liam Rabe type player for the Colonels next season. As far as the younger kids go, Reed Bradfield, and current frosh Tyler Schreck (Austin Schreck's younger brother), and AJ Plitzuweit (NKU Women's head coach son) will probably be counted on to either start or provide major minutes. Dixie will be young and have some growing pains but will be competitive. 4. McNeil should have a great season and will definitely be a POY candidate. Hendrix and Kunkel should provide enough help to keep opposing teams from constantly keying on him.
  8. Here is Holmes' June schedule: 6/1 @ Lexcath (2 games) 6/3-6/4 @ Simon Kenton 6/8-6/9 @ Boyd Co 6/11 v Lafayette & Boone Co (1:00 and 3:00 ...Boone v Lafayette 2:00) 6/15 v Dixie Heights & Oldham Co (5:00 & 6:00...Dixie v Oldham 7:00) 6/18-6/19 @ Fairdale 6/22-6/23 Holmes Shootout (Highlands, Warren Central, Pendleton Co, Lloyd, Lexcath, Williamstown, Dixie, Mason Co...Schedule TBD)
  9. That class also had: Arrez Henderson- Louisiana Tech Nic Simpson- North Carolina A&T Adam Delph- UK Aaron Morris- IUPUI Clark Stepp- Austin Peay
  10. 2010 class was pretty good: Ricardo Johnson- Ohio U Elijah Pittman- Marshall Josh Sewell- Miami (OH) Ge'Lawn Guyn- Cincinnati Dakotah Euton- Kent State (Originally committed to UK, obviously didn't pan out) Chad Jackson- James Madison to NKU Aaron Watts- I believe chose Morehead for baseball over Marshall for hoops?? Elijah Justice- Louisville Curtis Washington- Cal Jarrod Polson- UK Colt Barnhill- Air Force Donovan Gibbs- IUPUI Vance Hall- Wright State Faulkner twin- Radford 2011 class was really good too: Anthony Hickey- Oklahoma St to LSU CHris Freeman- Austin Peay George Fant- WKU Vinny Zollo- Cleveland St Jordan Shanklin- IUPUI Lyonel Gaines- IUPUI Remy Abel- Indiana to Xavier Donovan Kater- Manhattan Jordan Percell- Morehead Timmy Knipp- EKU Kam Woods- Butler Ryan Taylor- Marshall Treg Setty- So Illinois(??) Marcellus Barksdale- IUPUI Devante Parker- Louisville (football..I believe had some hoop offers as well?) Those were the first two classes that I really followed and covered as far as recruiting goes. Really wish the Travelers and EYBL were in KY back then.
  11. Iowa State (Pre season top 5) visits 5/3rd arena December 22nd. UC now has the following non con games next season: @ Xavier @ VCU v Butler v Iowa State Barclays Classic (Tennessee, George Washington, Nebraska..UC will play 2 of 3)
  12. Was told Archie Miller wasn't interested.
  13. Hasn't Mason benefitted from kids transferring in during the younger years? Don't remember where I heard it, but wasn't Darius Miller from a neighboring town/county? Same with the Setty's? (I could be wrong on names but seem to remember someone telling me about the kids who have ended up at Mason Co over the years)
  14. Good point. McCormick, Fox, and Hatton would've been arguably the best trio in the state had that situation played out. And even though he had his issues, I would've liked to seen what Dixie does with Pike as a senior. (left early for Auburn)
  15. While I think Covcath is the favorite coming in to next season in the 9th, I think they are a year away from legitimately competing for a state title again. The 9th overall is down next season so that's not a knock on the Colonels. But the following year, they (Covcath) are absolutely loaded. Things could change over the summer, however, if they pick up a transfer that I heard about months ago.
  16. And Holmes had a pretty good team with arguably the best guard in the state. Your point??
  17. Campbellsville just got a steal. Congrats to Hagen and his family.
  18. Brian Loring is the name I was given.. And FWIW, my guy seems to think this kid will eventually end up at one of the academies in VA, NC , or FL where they have more experience with kids like this. (Relatively new to the states)
  19. We finally have a name... Azuibuke Nwankno Or something close to that. "Project " is what I'm hearing as well. Apparently the 2019 kid is the one that's really good at Clark Montessori. Was also told the OHSAA laughed them away but might be easier to become eligible in KY which is why the family ended up looking at Covcath and Newcath.
  20. I'd like to know how long he has been in the area, because almost everyone I have spoke to who is "in the know" with Cincy and Ohio hoops seems to think this is the kid that was at Clark Montessori at some point. Apparently there's two 7 footers with the same guardian..one at Clark and the other in Oxford. 8th and 9th graders. From his open gym run with Newcath, I was told his hands need some work but he is very good defensively, calling out screens and knowing when to hedge, while also altering/blocking a lot of shots. Obviously dunks any time he has a chance and finishes decent.
  21. My understanding is he moved to Ohio from ATL...tried to get admitted there. No luck. Looked at Covcath. Now Newcath. Currently lives in Cincy amd plays for the Cincy Lakers (along with Jayden Sayles from Kings) aau program.
  22. Mack wanted the Tennessee job when it opened and was rumored to Texas. Leaving his hometown isn't an issue.
  23. If Mack leaves for Florida, I'd be somewhat surprised if Travis Steele didn't end up replacing him.
  24. I wasn't referring to Fredrick's nephew and my info didn't come from someone on that staff. I know about Fredrick's nephew and the other young kid. The kid I've heard about is going to be a senior next year. And after doing a little digging, I'm told THIS kid is big but very raw.
