  1. Doellman is the best in Ryle's short history but not even close to the best ever in the 9th region. Even though he had his issues throughout his college career, Elijah Pittman has been pretty successful at each of his stops. Averaged 16 ppg at Marshall (dropped 20 on both UC and UK his jr year), then 10 ppg, 3 rpg this past season while playing in the D-League. Turned down a workout offer from the Grizzlies to go play in Morocco. That's just one player...there have been others to come through the 9th region with better credentials than what Doellman (and Pittman) have done.
  2. As far as history goes.... Most Region Titles: Holmes- 15 Covcath-10 Highlands- 9 Newport- 8 Newcath 7 Most State Championship Appearances: Holmes- 4 (1-3...should be 2-2) Covcath- 2 ( 1-1) Newport- 2 (0-2) Most Wins: Holmes- 1,622 (Reynolds Flynn- 569 ; Tom Ellis- 421 ; Henley/Listerman- 408 ; Mike Flynn- 224) Newcath- 1,370 (per the KHSAA All Time Wins page) Covcath- 1,310 (per Covcath school website records page) ^^^Assuming the KHSAA records are up to date, Holmes comes in at 3rd all time in wins, Newcath is 6th all time in wins, and Covcath comes in at 9th all time in wins.
  3. Don't expect to see Covcath main players there tonight...pretty sure they also have a scrimmage scheduled against LaSalle.
  4. He and Goodin will likely form the best backcourt in the state next year.
  5. Not sure how close Bez is with Coach L but I do know Holmes has an opening on their staff.....
  6. Not if they get the same kind of sponsorship that indiana gets to hold it at Banker's Life.
  7. I said the same thing when talking to an Indiana writer the other night. I don't care what the attendance ends up being, I think they should move the game to Rupp or YUM Center and set the prices similar to how Indiana does it and see what type of turnout they get
  8. Listed at 7'0 but I'd say 6'10 might be more accurate. Ran in to his dad at Transy. Dude is TALL.
  9. We will agree to disagree then. Don't get me wrong, not all of them were good shots, but most of the shots taken were ones that I've seen those kids knock down regularly during the high school season.
  10. I never felt the Ky team was forcing shots from outside. Most were good looks. Simply weren't falling.
  11. I saw him both games and I'm still taking Drew Mcdonald all day. Better passer, better low post game, and stretches the defense more with his shooting ability. Miller isn't a jump shooter and too often he tried to be one. I also think Hagen Tyler should have been on the team.. Kentucky is going to continue to lose these games if they don't put the best players on the team.
  12. Another rough night for the Kentucky girls against Indiana. Maci Morris and Alexis Brewer led Kentucky with 14 points apiece. KY was 1 for 25 from outside.
  13. Kentucky – Bolden 14, Woods 0, Hall 2, Sutton 13, Holman 21, Perry 9, Simmons 4, Patterson 0, Spalding 10, Miller 4. Totals: 26 21-30 77. Indiana – Okafor 5, Cline 11, Sanford 6, Holba 16, Teague 8, Brown 0, Cannady 17, Walton 9, McDermott 0, Welage 8, Smits 8. Totals: 28 25-33 88. Halftime: Kentucky 33-32. 3-point goals: Kentucky 4 (Holman 2, Bolden, Perry), Indiana 7 (Cline 3, Cannady 3, Sanford).
  14. Kentucky badly missed having no knock down shooters . Bolden and Perry can be streaky from outside, along with Woods, but having Justice to just spot up and shoot would have really helped. And while this may not be popular amongst some on here...give me Drew Mcdonald in this game over Miller all day. I hate to bash the kid but he needs to learn the art of passing before he gets to the next level. Did some really nice things but was also very easy to defend once Indiana realized if he touched the ball he wasn't giving it up, so just double and put bodies in him. Was also disappointed to see Spalding not play more. He was pretty good when he was actually on the floor by himseld. Holman did it all both inside and out. Nice bounce back after a rough showing last night. As much as I wanted to see those two play together, they really do play much better without one another on the floor at the same time. Hopefully the current juniors can end the streak next year. Kentucky definitely had the team to this year but simply couldn't get it done.
  15. 6,533 in attendance tonight...largest crowd in 10 years. Not that it matters, but Bolden finished with 14, not 12.
  16. Final from Indy. Holman led KY with 21 & 8. Sutton 13 & 9 Bolden 12 & 4 Spalding 11 & 5 Perry 9 pts
  17. Wasn't much better tonight...I believe KY was 21% from outside for the game.
  18. I would've given Matlock more mins than the Patterson kid. And that's nothing against him but you have to play your best to win. On the Indiana side, I was surprised KJ Walton didn't play more or start.
  19. Thought I overheard someone say this was the largest margin ever in this series... Indiana led 30-25 at the half.

  21. 12 mins, 1 pt, 4 rbs, 0-1 FG, 1-4 FT The Kentucky squad looked much better in the second half with Bolden starting and getting the majority of the minutes at the 1/2. Him only playing 4 minutes the first half because of foul trouble really hurt KY because they had no true point guard to not only score but also distribute the ball and penetrate Indiana's zone. Tempo really picked up the 2nd half with Bolden on the floor. If I'm the KY coach, I'm going with the following lineup tomorrow night and making sure each plays atleast 25 minutes, if I want to win: Bolden Perry Sutton Hall Holman
  22. I won't argue with the crowd size, but both teams wanted to win. A lot of emotion from both sides throughout.
  23. Purdue commit Ryan Cline torched KY tonight...23 pts on 5-9 3FG, 8-14 FG....also had the go ahead and final bucket at the buzzer.
  24. Final from Transy. Bolden hit a deep 3 to give Ky a 80-79 lead with under 40 secs left then got a stop but Ky turned it over and IN got a go ahead lay up in transition. Bolden had a 3 blocked and IN scored at the buzzer to give you the final. Sutton led KY with 16 & 11. Perry 16 & 5. Hall 12 & 5 Bolden 7 & 7 Miller 7 & 6 Rose 7 & 3 Holman 5 & 9 Woods 5 Patterson 4 & 5 Not sure why but Matlock only played 3 mins
