  1. Saw you guys watching the All Star game at the end of the day...you should have stopped over and introduced yourselves. I'm sure I'll be seeing you two a lot over the next few years.
  2. Ironton is still one of my favorite stadiums of all time...town has the "varsity blues" type feel on Friday nights when they play a home game. Just looked up their stadium and did see that they look to have done some upgrades, adding paint and turf.
  3. Had a chance to finally see Brennan Hall at the NextupRecruits Exposure Camp yesterday...kid can play and I instantly became a fan after watching him play several games against virtually any and every top kid in the state that you can name for '16, '17, '18, and '19. Really good event and he more than held his own at both ends. Strong will the ball, attacks the rim hard, finishing through contact, great body control, and showed a decent jumper.
  4. Rico is back with Newport and seems to have gotten things straightened out...
  5. Summer ball or not, considering McClendon is only 5'10, figured this was worth posting.
  6. Braxton is scheduled to be at the NextupRecruits showcase tomorrow along with Tavin Lovan, Quentin Goodin, Day-Day Slone, and Trey Hill, among others.
  7. Yup...Fredrick effect. Great asset for Covcath. Great resource for the program and kids. Hearing Ball State is about to offer too.
  8. Just received a text that DePaul offered him today while on his visit.
  9. Holmes Summer Shootout : Holmes beat Pendleton Co by 20. Newport beat Dixie by 2 or 3. Holmes beat Newport 76-69 wit Snapp and McClendon both probably having close to 30 points each. Holmes will play Lexcath again at 3 today.
  10. Holmes had no answer for him down the stretch. He really took over, scoring from outside and attacking the rim and finishing through contact.
  11. As far as I know he is playing. Has had a lot going on with being out of town with family and working. He was at their last two games at Fairdale and Boyd Co.
  12. Sounds like something our guy JF would say... :lol2:
  13. Holmes beat Mason Co 63-59. Williams, #13 , #15 , & #25 looked good for Mason. Their two bigs (13 & 15) showed nice shooting range, opening up lanes for the MC guards to drive and get in the lane. Holmes was without 6'5 Jr Jaiden Greene both games.
  14. Pendleton Co beat Williamstown bad. Holmes beat Lexcath 59-58 on a layup by McClendon at the buzzer. Lexcath has a really nice guard trio with Morris, Ogbognu, and #25 .
  15. Looks like Covcath will be apart of this after all....with Newcath as the opponent. 2016 Bluegrass Classic

  17. Holmes' End of Summer Shootout will run Monday and Tuesday at Holmes: Teams include: Highlands, Pendleton Co, Warren Central, Lexcath, Williamstown, Dixie, Mason Co, and Lloyd Holmes plays Lexcath (4:00) and Warren Central (7:00) on Monday. Holmes plays Pendleton Co (11:00 am) and Williamstown (1:00) on Tuesday. When I get the full schedule I'll post it.
  18. Have seen Porter play...LOVE his game. He is going to be tough to defend at the next level.
  19. I never said one way or another in this thread...I'm too young to know how good the players on the 70's, 80's, and 90's teams were but Pittman is the best one I've seen come through Holmes...being 27, I have only followed Holmes and NKY basketball as a whole since the 02-03 season. I've had in depth conversations with Kenny Shields and Reynolds Flynn, however, and both have said EP is one of the best they've ever seen come through the area. Bud won't say one way or another as he likes to give the "old school" guys like Bob Barton, Lou Herndon, Jack Jennings, Dicky Beal, and Doug Schloemer love but he has said multiple times in conversations with me that "EP is up there as far as best to ever come out of Holmes."
  20. Since you're so "in tune" with Holmes history, who are your top 5 players ever there? FWIW, ask Bud Wimzie and he will likely tell you there haven't been Many to come through Holmes with more upside/raw talent than Pittman. To quote "Bud " "Dude is 6'9 and can take you in the paint or step out and hit the 3 with consistency" Question his character at times all you want but from a pure talent standpoint local legends agree not many have come through the area better than him.
  21. As far as the actual head to head match ups go between Brock and the other two: 1-14-03 Highlands 58 Simon Kenton 47 Mike Brock 25 pts, 9 rbs Ross Neltner 8 pts 1-31-03 Simon Kenton 58 Ryle 46 Mike Brock 18 pts, 9 rbs Justin Doellman 14 pts, 8 rbs 2-8-03 Highlands 48 Ryle 45 Justin Doellman 29 pts, 15 rbs Ross Neltner 11 pts 3-15-03 Simon Kenton 54 Highlands 46 Mike Brock 26 pts Ross Neltner 12 pts Don't see how anyone can argue Neltner was the best of the 3 given the above numbers.
  22. When I talk to people close to the situation that year, they call it politics...I guess I should have clarified in my original post. Mike has told me in the past that his coaches asked him if he wanted them to "campaign" for him to get Mr. Basketball and he simply responded "my play on the court and numbers will do all the talking."
  23. First of all, I simply said "Elijah Pittman has been pretty successful at each of his stops." And I guess you over looked the part where I stated in my original post " there have been others to come through the 9th region with better credentials than what Doellman (and Pittman) have done." Where is the bias in my post??? I never said Pittman was one of the top 5 best players to ever come through Holmes. Was simply comparing college and now pro careers. For you to say EP is no where close to the level of Doellman shows a serious lack of backetball knowledge, IMO. Ask a few legendary coaches in the area and they will tell you he is among the best "bigs" to ever come through NKY but his off the court issues over shadowed his actual talent...their words, not mine. As far as the Neltner debate, see Colonel Crazy's post. Couldn't have said it better myself. I wouldn't expect a Highlands guy to agree with me on that matter though.
