There's a few no no's everyone needs to know. 1) You don't tug on Superman's Cape 2) You don't spit into the wind? 3) You don't pull the mask off that Ole Lone Ranger and you 4) Don't bet against the Cardinals on Black Friday.

The pressures squarely on the Tigers shoulders as they attempt to get that monkey off there backs. That could play into there favor or it could play into Mayfield's favor should that pressure be a little too much and they start to press.. One thing I know about this Mayfield team is they aren't going to get too high if they start out strong or get too low if they start out slow.. They'll continue to go about there business and do what they've done to get them to this point..

This should be a good battle.. I think the Rams will make a better showing at home than they did on the road last year. I'm still going to go with W'Burg because I think there DBs can match up one on one with the Rams WRs and contain the passing game. If so and the Rams become one-dimensional, the Jackets will load the box and make it extremely tough on them. I also think that the Burg's QB ability to run will be a big factor. Even if the Ram DBs have good coverage, he can make big plays by finding holes and tucking it up and running it. That threat, in itself, will make Raceland have to respect it and play more straight up even when they want to turn up the pressure and be more aggressive.. I think both teams will make some big plays, but, in the end, I see it somewhere in the range of 40-24..Williamsburg...

Honestly, after reading that write up on the game, these 2 appear to be mirror images of each other.. Even the QBs #s are almost even..

Murrays D will have to play a great game. I think it'll be a low scoring game, but, both teams have nice skilled players that can make big plays. I think Desales depth and overall D will be enough, but, I do think it'll be closer than last years game. Desales 21 Murray 7

I think they should go for a proven coach who can best utilize all that talent and have enough backbone to keep the interfering parents at bay. So much politics involved over there, a lot like Graves Co. in that regard. If McCracken puts its best players on the field and doesn't play favorites to the money boosters, they've got a chance to be an elite program sooner than later.

Has anyone heard anything on the Head Coach opening? Any new names circulating?

According to these rankings, Mayfield would be the favorite to win 1a, 2a, 3a and 5a and would be the favorite to represent the west in 4a.. Pretty impressive.

I never dismissed the prior teams or this team either and never claimed they were unathletic. I simply said from all the pregame hype about certain players over the past few years, they never blew me away as being all they were hyped to be. Personally, I think Mayfields speed and athleticism in the 09 and 10 games were a big difference in the 2 teams, but, VOR will be the 1st to tell you that Mayfields speed was never a factor in any of those games. I disagree to a point. It wasn't the main factor, but, I do think it was one of the factors, especially the difference in the interior lines. Mayfields OL and DL got off the ball so much quicker, it disrupted the Tigers on both sides of the ball.

Who knows, Beechwood may have 10 or 15 D1 players in some sport or another, but, I've never thought, in all the previous matchups, that they had better athletes than Mayfield did. I'd hear about how fast so and so was and when I saw them live, there speed didn't blow me away. I've never been overwhelmed with the Tiger athleticism. They are typically fundamentally sound and hardnosed. Everything else I hear is mostly overblown.

I think Trinity will have a hard time getting much offense going against a stout Meade Co defense, but, I think Meade will be equally challenged against T's defense. I think we're looking at a very low scoring game, something like 14-7, 7-0, 10-3 type score with the winning team winning the turnover battle..

In the past 4 meetings from 09 to 12, in 2 of those meetings, Mayfield simply had the better talent and were a better team. In the other 2, I think it was the versatility Mayfield had. In those particular years, Mayfield was 50-50 in pass vs run and mixed it up better offensively than Beechwood did. I also think the halftime adjustments were better by the Cardinals. They also took advantage of the Tigers mistakes and capitalized more when they got a turnover. Also having a Jonathan Jackson on your side helped a lot.

I think from a sheer talent standpoint, this years Tiger team matches up. From an experience standpoint, the Tigers have a slight edge. From a speed standpoint, I thinks it's a wash. I think the Tiger's passing game is as good as it's been in the past few years. The Tigers have a couple of solid RBs that can share the workload. The Tigers have a size and experience advantage in the trenches. This years Mayfield team doesn't have a Guhy behind center for the 1st time in 7 years. The Cardinals don't have a breakaway receiver like an Xavier Shelton, William Higginson, Jordan Brown or Deion Jackson as they've had the past few years. This is the 1st time the Tigers have played a Mayfield team without a Jonathan Jackson willing there team to victory and making plays all over the field. This Cardinal team has been very penalty prone, time and again killing drives. Most knowledgeable Cardinal fans freely admit that this years team isn't quite up to par with some of the past championship teams. While some fans think the home field won't be a factor and maybe it won't, but, that 6 hr bus ride still makes a difference. One team has to make it and the other doesn't. With all this said, it should be a very close game that could go either way. I'm picking the Cardinals and here's why. The kids on that team comes into every game expecting to win and nothing less will do. They typically play better and more focused against the better teams. Coach Morris will have his team well prepared and he will adjust as needed throughout the game until he figures it out. The Card defense will step up to the challenge and want to prove a point. This team has shown a lot of resolve this year and doesn't get flustered or lose it's poise if they get behind. Matter of fact, they seem to play better from behind. While they've had a few games where they've come out flat and uninspired and not played it's best, when they're focused and ready to play, they're very, very solid and an awfully tough out. I expect them to be focused and perform at a high level. While looking at the Tigers, I could easily see why others would like them to win this game, but, after going 0-6 lifetime against the Cardinals, until they actually beat them, there's always going to be some doubt in the back of there players minds, despite what anyone else says and like I said earlier, Mayfields kids fully expect to play a great game and win and if they're a little off there game, still expect to make adjustments and pull out a win, and, they'll have that same mindset for the full 48 minutes until that final horn blows. My score prediction : Mayfield 31 Beechwood 20

Bright is a much more skilled runner than Jackson. Jonathan was 210 lbs and could power over people but he didn't have near the shiftiness of Bright. Bright's only negative is he's about 5'6 and 150 lbs soaking wet, but, he's stronger than he looks and can break tackles much more than you'd think and when he gets in the open field, he turns on the jets. He really doesn't look all that fast but when he breaks away from the line, he has that 2nd gear and isn't going to be denied. Jackson was an Eddie Grorge type runner while Bright is more like a Dorsett or Barry Sanders type..

Tough break to lose a player of Sindelars caliber at this stage of the playoffs.

The Eagles have played great for the last 7-8 weeks. Ever since the McCracken upset win, they've been playing with a lot of confidence and swagger. I'm surprised they won, but, wasn't surprised it was a close game.. I thought the Eagles could hang with them, just expected the Purples depth would likely take over late and they'd pull it out..

Final.. The Purples never got into the red zone against the Eagles D.. Congrats to the Eagles for a great game and huge upset.. The Purples seniors end there career 55-2 with 3 state championships.. Great run by the Purples...

On 1st down, Tyler picks up 3.. On 2nd and 7, Mayfield moves before the snap for a 5 yd penalty. On 2nd and 12, Tyler picks up 5. On 3rd and 8, Mayfield calls time out.. Theres 6:38 to go in game.. Mayfield just trying to run as much clock off as possible..
