  1. Good memory...the '94 roster had Galen at a whopping 5'6" and 160lbs. Folks used to call him "The Bowling Ball".
  2. That was 1994. #23 for Cov Cath is Galen Healey, and the Beechwood linebacker is Scott Zahler. I forget what his number was.
  3. Thanks @THUNDERBIRDS. I went back and updated the start times for the home games on Highlands' schedule and all of the corresponding opponents.
  4. Is Lloyd's team a freshman team, or froshmore? I'm not sure whether or not there are enough froshmore teams in NKY currently to start a separate thread for them (especially since they play a kind of mish-mashed schedule against freshman teams, JV teams, and other froshmore teams), but I know at least Boone County, New Cath and Holmes all have froshmore teams. And I think Scott and (maybe) Walton-Verona do as well? Not sure about anyone else around NKY.
  5. LinkNKY put out an article about the delay, including the architect's rendering, below, of the new grandstand. I can't think of too many pressboxes that include a roof for the crews up top, but man, that's a really nice touch.
  6. They already have a roster up on the KHSAA Scoreboard, actually. 22 players shown. 8 seniors, 4 juniors, 8 sophomores, and 2 freshmen. Tristan Woodyard started at QB last year as a freshman, and Jordan Pendleton was their leading rusher last year, also as a freshman. Landon Corley was their #2 rusher, in addition to being their #1 receiver. The offense really struggled last year...only 264 offensive snaps in 7 games played, for an average of offensive 38 plays a game. (I was told once that any offense that averages under 45 plays a game is either very efficient, or isn't doing very well.) So here's hoping a little experience adds to their success this season. On defense they graduated 4 of their top 5 tacklers. The guys listed with a single asterisk were on last year's team for the Tigers, and the guys listed with two asterisks have played for Bellevue previously, but did not play last year. Lorimar Brown (Sr.) Landon Corley (Sr.) * Izahia Coston (Sr.) Jackson Day (Sr.) * Aiden Dickerson (Sr.) Derrick Fortner (So.) * Peyton Hopper (Jr.) Evan Kappes (Sr.) ** Chris McGovney (Fr.) Jordan Pendleton (So.) * Amari Rogers (So.) * Kayne Ross (So.) * Curtis Rust (Sr.) Brayden Sizemore (Jr.) * Stephen Specht (Fr.) Anthony Starns (Jr.) Kameron Stokes (So.) * Arion Stuckey (So.) * Robert Turner (Sr.) Patrick Vogt (So.) * Elijah Weyer (Jr.) ** Tristan Woodyard (So.) *

  11. Here's one player I hope we see more out of this season. Casey had a VERY strong season as a freshman, but we haven't seen much from him the past two. I'm not sure if he's had any injuries hampering him, or if the depth chart just hasn't favored him, but if memory serves, the 2020 freshman team had Evan Pitzer at quarterback, Casey Bir at fullback, and Owen Leen at tailback - plus Willie Rodriguez at tight end. And both Bir and Leen had a good pair of hands on them, so oftentimes they had a major set of options for outlet passes when Pitzer got into trouble in the backfield and could dump the ball off to either of two running backs or his tight end, all in close range. Coach Eviston is obviously huge on spreading the field out, so he hasn't tended to like coming out with two set backs, and has opted for formations with 3 and 4 wide receivers instead. Personally speaking, I'd love to see what would happen if we start looking at changing things up a little more to mix in two running backs in more situations than just those where we need short yardage.
  12. There was some talk earlier about Dylan Gaiser coming in as a really promising sophomore after a good year last season as the frosh QB. Assuming Pitzer remains as starting quarterback and stays injury-free, there's no way Coach Eviston doesn't try to use Gaiser's talents on offense, is there? Will we finally see a split-back look out of Eviston's offense? Is Gaiser going to play wideout? Will he switch in with Leen at running back like we saw in 2019 with Daniel Felix, Michael Boydston and Owen Nally?
  13. Alright, so we've had a lot of talk about one specific player here. Let's hear a little more about other players. So on the offensive side of things, we've got a load of starters coming back. Plus a few more with significant playing time. I know the biggest question marks will be who steps in on the offensive line. What have you been hearing? QB - Evan Pitzer RB - Owen Leen RB - Andrew Bessler RB/WR - Casey Bir WR - Braylon Miller WR - Oliver Link WR - Ben McEvoy WR - Noah Johnson WR - Donovan Bradshaw WR - Cash Harney WR - Evan Vinson TE - Willie Rodriguez TE - Tate Kruer OL - Seth Jones OL - Ben Reeves OL - Josh Flood OL - JP Sullivan
  14. Cash Harney was ruled eligible by the KHSAA, yes. Then the KHSAA walked back on their ruling around mid-June, apparently informing Cov Cath and the Harneys that they were sent two anonymous letters with information that led them to reverse their eligibility ruling pending further investigation. Talk about an all-time numbskull, absolutely terrible precedent to make by the KHSAA: "Hey, if you're unhappy about a transfer being approved eligible to play sports at a new school, just send us an anonymous letter and we'll reverse our ruling." I do believe the Harney's engaged an attorney once the KHSAA reversed their ruling. Word around the water cooler has been that there's a "hearing" coming up. No idea whether or not that's a court hearing or a KHSAA hearing. @The Oracle do you have any insight? You seemed to indicate that it was a court hearing.
  15. I was told Evan Pitzer is currently the starter and Dylan Gaiser is currently the first backup to Pitzer. I was a little surprised that Gaiser was ahead of Harney and was told "Gaiser is every bit as mobile as Harney is in the pocket, has a stronger arm, is a half-inch taller, and will for sure be able to play come the start of the season." 😂
  16. The stands are oftentimes one of the final pieces of the puzzle on stadium projects (although not necessarily). So Lloyd's field renovation may well be complete and only waiting on the stands to be finished.
  17. Tyson Beach's Twitter profile lists his location as Edgewood and Pat Burke as his head coach. I'm assuming that means he's a Red Colonel.
