  1. At 9yrs old he was 5'10" and 190lbs. He's a beast and is a freak with his speed!
  2. Here is my take. Kel will be eligible to play, like it or not it's more than likely going to happen but while most, and maybe rightly so, make Holmes the favorite to win the 9th next year I am going to say that they won't. Here me out on my reasoning. Yes they have the best player in the region, and yes they have a Big Man in Chames, but really, you are not going to tell me that Kel is going to make up the difference of losing Quan, BJ, and the rebounding machine of Englemon. Think about it, it took a great shot for them to even make it to the finals of the region over Cooper and it was proven they are beatable, teams find a way to get it done. They lost a lot in those 3 Srs. and you cannot tell me they will get back to Rupp that easily. CovCath and NCC will be just as good next season, or possibly better, and don't count out others in the area as again I feel there will be a couple more who can beat anyone on a given night. Interesting thread which makes this site so popular...
  3. This one will be interesting. If all the players who were either scheduled to go to or would have stayed at Holmes they clearly would have had a dynasty. Kel will be an instant replacement for Quan....if it all goes thru with the KHSAA.
  4. Had the pleasure to coach this young man in the pee wee 's. I knew then that he was going to be special.
  5. Pittman has another year left so I believe everyone is referring to after his senior season so you won't see him on any mock draft boards.
  6. Brandon is a 1 year hold back. He is 18 and that 6th grade AAU team that was referred to also had holdbacks Q. Snider (Ballard) and Z. McCormick (Turpin) and at that time AAU allowed for 3 age exceptions per team. The rule has since change to have an unlimited amount of exceptions but the play must be in the grade for which his team is competing and he can only be 1 year older but the specified date by the AAU. This is common, non issue.
  7. I agree with you Clyde on X only having so many spots but they do have 6 Jrs. on the roster this year and there has been alot of talk over the years so everyone knows there's interest but you're correct it may be a longshot. I was in Vegas last summer when BH got hurt and it was just before Mack arrived to see him and DR play so I wished he could have seen him play out there. Hopefully he has a great (and healthy) summer circuit.
  8. U14 KY Select Basketball Roster: Austin Neff-NCC Cole Hegyi-Campbell County JC Hawkins-Simon Kenton Cameron Racke-Simon Kenton Dante' Hendrix-Cooper Sean McNeil-Cooper Brent Angel-Covington Catholic Hunter Myer-Dixie Justin Drees-East Central, IN Sid Fox-East Central, IN
  9. N. Kentucky Tar Heel/Select will again be a strong contender at the 8th grade (incoming Freshman) level. Off to a good start in 2013 with winning both of their tourneys so far this year with the last one missing 4 key players. Placed 6th in the country the last 2 years at the D2 level. The core of this team has played together since the 3rd grade. Best of luck to all the KY AAU teams this year!
  10. I've talked to him as well. If he stays he WILL remain at Dixie and if not, Prep school is the direction he's headed. Dixie will struggle next year and this may be the best opportunity for him to increase his stock. All this could be solved if Mack would go ahead and extend him an offer. Either way he should do what's best for him. I don't put much stock in the article as it way too early and things can change in a blink of an eye. I'm sure Chevy believes this to be the case today but I am glad he would be supportive if he decided to leave.
  11. On top of the VOR's answers I'll give you two more: 1.Holmes 2.CovCath If NCC couldn't get out of the region with it's teams from the last 3 seasons.........You can finish that sentence how you want. Great coach and way to look out for the "man in the mirror".
  12. UK continues its full court press. Today Drew received 115 hand written letters from the Cats. If he doesn't pick them it won't be because of lack of effort. Best of luck wherever he decides to go.
  13. The region has lost 25% of it's coaches in one season.....Wow!
  14. Glad they finally got one. Good luck to Mr. Schmidt!! I know there are a group of middle school kids who are anxious to get developed for the HS which couldn't be done until they named the coach.
  15. Well I have some pretty good facts myself but won't debate the issue but trust me it had much more to do with coaching and all I will say if until you walked in someone else's shoes..... It's a mute point now.
  16. Incorrect. There were some serious issues at Ryle (which I will not elaborate) which is how both the Moss kids ended up at Boone. There was no "lousy excuse" as RHN may have insinuated, that one was legit. They never used anyone elses address they took it to BC BOE and it was approved. I won't deny there are some "head scratchers" that do take place but that was not the case in this situation.
  17. While not a graduate of Ryle this was the same situation for Mullins.
  18. Oh this is gettin' good In all seriousness, both of these teams are very very good. While the Travelers will not participate in the State tourney, which yes is a way for them to be assured they'd meet, I know the Travelers have a full schedule so maybe it's a conflict, maybe not, but it does not appear that they are ducking anyone, nor vice versa. I have seen nearly all of these players play, in fact I've seen several of them develop since the 3rd grade, and all of them have turned out to be very good players. Let the players play and if they meet it will be a great game I am sure. Seems like some adults are letting the egos get the best of them when it should just be about some of the top players in the country getting better and bringing out the best of one another. I know several of them personally and of those none of them have any ill will towards the other and in fact it brings out the best of them when they play one another. Definitely the two best teams in the State if not the country, much respect to all the players.
  19. NCC has been the either the favorite or #2 the last few years but have yet to make it out the region. While they will be good I would not make them the favorite. With Bolden running the show along with Chames patroling the middle, Holmes is going to be the top dog until someone takes them out and if Markel transfers back to where he started he will step right in and fill the shoes of Palmer. It's not where you start it's where you finish. Anyway, I do see Coach Goetz ending up somewhere in the area as a HC. It'll be interesting to see how he does in the public school setting.
  20. Mullins got the head coaching job NOT because of his success at the freshman level! Mullins got that job because the late timing of the previous coach stepping down to become the asst. principal. If memory serves me correctly he stepped down in mid-late April when other coaches had already "re-upped" with their current school. In essence he got that job by default because it made since to keep some continuity because of the timing. Had the previous coach stepped down right after the season there would have been other coaches much more qualified either as the HC or JV coach.
  21. LOL. While that would be interesting to see him with is old AAU teammates again I STRONGLY doubt that is even a remote possibility. Bottom line is IF he leaves DH he's off to a prep school for his senior year.
