  1. Holmes has had some close games but undefeated is undefeated. I'd have to rate them in the Top 10.
  2. Cooper has had very little if any impact on the Boone program from a "watered down" standpoint. Cooper's boundaries barely encroached any of Boone's boundaries with it's creation. It had little more impact on Conner and Ryle. Having virtually the whole city of Florence and I'm guessing about 70% of all the apartment complexes shouldn't even be remotely a factor for Boone. There are a few athletes in that school that might decide to play football now that the change has taken place, depending on who they bring in of course.
  3. You can flat out remove Cooper from this list as having a really good weight room. Like the football field not being turfed and the practice field full of dirt and rocks, someone also missed the boat in the weight room. If you have attended a basketball game at Cooper and looked up to the small room above one of the goals you will see the weight room. Other than the baseball and softball facilities, someone missed the boat badly when planning for athletics at this school. All other aspects of the school are A+ but the weight room is extremely limited for a school this size with so many sports.
  4. Doesn't surprise me if parents are complaining, if they are. They were doing when he arrived there as a 7th grader and that is fact. Let's be real, Brandon is Dixie's only option. He has to get shots up if they have a remote chance of winning any game. Development in season is risky business when you're that young and inexperienced. Any team in the Top 10 could when the region on any given nite so let the chips fall where they may but I'd ride my horse til his tongue is dragging on the ground IMO.
  5. Couldn't agree more! Not sure why the inside game is struggling so much but hopefully Cooper will get it fixed. They have one of the biggest front lines in NKY yet they are not being as productive as they could be. The tourney is right around the corner and if Cooper is to make some noise they need these guys to step up more on offensive end. However, the defense was solid again except for the 2 minor runs Boone went on in the 2nd half but I hope winning ugly doesn't catch up to them. At some point they have to put lesser teams away immediately and not let up off the gas. Zach McNeil could have easily had over 30 so I hope he keeps rolling now that it seems he's found his fit with his new teammates.
  6. First nobody really cares how long you've been attending games. U have no idea how old I am so check yourself. I've been in this area only 17 years and I can promise u I've spent Several days and nites in Holmes' gym and the city of Covington without issue. As previously stated, the comment about "mommies being afraid to let there kids go to Covington was uncalled for". Cooper had a decent amount of fans there and really not that much less than any other road game outside of Boone Co. Your comments about Big Cooper proves to me u know nothing about the boundaries of Cooper as our boundaries are the least of all the 4 Boone Co. schools. The crowd is meaningless anyway IMO as the players from both would have played just as hard in an empty gym. Lastly, not sure how u call this such an "important" game. Nothing was on the line for either team. Non-district for both. It only matters in March but then again I thought u would know that since you've been around sooooo long. The little 5th year school from Union will just keep doing what we do and try to get better with every game.
  7. Idk what TOGs problem is but that's the second off the wall comment taking a jab at Cooper and quite frankly Holmes n the city of Covington. I've traveled to Covington for the last 17 years and nvr had one problem. Just another slap in the face by CCH fan IMO that's totally uncalled for. Guess if HHS had a tiny gym like CCH the crowd would have looked larger. Whether there was 200 or 2000 there it was a great game.
  8. Very good game and had the makings of a intense finish but Holmes did what they were supposed to do and knocked down key free throws down the stretch. I won't complain about the 19-7 free throws shot as while the Jags did shoot several threes they did get to the basket enough to shoot more that 7 free throws, it is what it is. One thing I will complain about is the missed traveling calls, there where at least 5 I counted. Big game from Chames and I think that was the difference as well. No excuse but Maniacci shouldn't have played most likely with the bad wheel but gave a good effort. Bolden is very good but I thought Morgan did an excellent job while he guarded him only giving up about 6 pts while guarding him directly and giving up 0 fg's in the second half. Bolden had 12 at the half and 5 free throws in the 2nd half but he IS the best PG in NKY hands down. These are two very good teams and either could beat one another on any given nite. I hope all the players get well soon as these illnesses are killing these teams. My hope is that these two teams meet in the finals of the 9th Region tourney as I feel comfortable with both making some noise at Rupp and representing NKY very well.
  9. NO QUESTION!! Mason Co. has the best popcorn bar none. Definitely a two bagger every time I go.
  10. LOL...really? Come on TOG you can do better than that. Yep, NCC won there State Championship game and so did that other team from Ft. Thomas whom CC knows pretty well so we don't really want to go there do you? I wouldn't count a 2pt loss in the 2nd game of the year, without 2 of it's starters (and 2 other fb players who contribute) regardless of location, to a non-district team, really that important. And FYI, "big school 5A Cooper" as you put it is technically a 4A school that is playing up in 5A. Anyway, should be a good basketball game tonite hopefully so I hope it's not a blowout that most everyone is predicting. Cooper takes care of the ball and shoots decent should make for a good one.
  11. If you looking for a Super Soph whose a Big include Collin Hathorn of Cooper. Goes hard every play, a banger and has no fear and played substantial varsity minutes as a freshman.
  12. All great points but I will be very interested to see who from Holmes guards Drew Shelton? Frankly he is playing the best out of all of their Bigs. Solid defender, hard nosed rebounder and uses both right and left hands offensively with a nice jump hook. I truly think he has been the unsung hero in the last 4 games which is why he has been inserted into the starting lineup. Holmes is already a great team but Cooper is playing well also and now that McNeil has found his place on the team and the football players are in basketball mode it should be a great game and either team could win.
  13. Guess you would know Holmes well have the L the other nite so thanks for the insight.... No excuse, the absolute poorest game of the year by Cooper from top to bottom. Cooper just stopped playing after jumping out 15-4 on Clinton Co. Yes their guards did work but there was no effort by Cooper at all, flat out acted like they didn't want to be there but hats off to Clinton Co. for a job well done. However, that is no indication of how Cooper has been playing of late. Again, Holmes is very FAST and ATHLETIC...duh, they always are but don't be fooled into thinking Cooper can't win this game. They have the shooters, probably better IMO to match Holmes and I'm still asking the question of what will Holmes do with the size and defensive skillset of Cooper? Guess I'm alone in that discussion since the only thing being discussed is how FAST Holmes is. Funny thing, during the football playoffs vs. Franklin Co. the only thing I heard was how FAST they were and, well, defense prevailed there too. Guess DEFENSE is JOB #1 in Bball too at Cooper so we will see. Like I said, if the game is slowed down and scored in the 40's or low 50's I'm taking the Jags..
  14. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is basketball we are talking about and not track right? Holmes is fast and athletic, they always are but this is predominantly the exact same team that lost to Cooper last year and they were fast and athletic then too. Last year of course means nothing but speed is sometimes neutralized when the other team dictates the pace of the game. Cooper doesn't play fast primarily because it doesn't have those types of athletes past Morgan but mostly because it doesn't want to and doesn't have to. I know, I know, everyone will post what does Cooper do with Bolden and if they are lucky enough to somehow control him what happens when BJ and Quan get hot? Fair questions, but I think similar questions have to be asked of Holmes when Collins and McNeil (who has become the leader of the team) get hot as well and additionally how does Holmes control the bigs of Cooper in Maniacci (6' 8'), Shelton (6' 5") and Hathorn (6'4") who are bangers. If Holmes has one weakness, it's defensive rebounding. Sully preaches and demands defense and if you don't play it you come sit down so if the scoring is low this game will be closer than the prognosticators predict. Holmes should win but there is no way Cooper loses by 20.
  15. Arguably the best Offense vs Arguably the best Defense. Who wins and why?
  16. Be a good match-up but Bolden is not at Q. SNIDER's level.....yet and that is no disrespect to Bolden at all because he is a great player and will continue to get even better. I've been around Q for quite a while and seen Bolden since his MS days and he will well on his way, but that's just my opinion. Both are ultra quick with complete games.
  17. The first thing they need to find is a coach that is willing to stay!
  18. Well Cooper will find out just how good they are, or are not, this coming Friday at Holmes and on Feb. 5th at CovCath. Those two teams are playing much better and more importantly more consistent. The problem with the Jags is you just never know what team is going to show up. They better get it figured out because March will be here before they know it.
  19. I have heard it is a very good experience but let's not be clouded by event. This combine is VERY pricey and when you factor in the transportation and lodging it gets to the point where you have to figure out the true value. One of my former players attended a couple of years ago and had good experience and learned alot but overall thought there could have been more on the recruiting front. If you can afford it, by all means attend but if not it is not the end of the world if the goal is to make it at the D1 level as this can still be accomplished by other means. Good luck to Lex and Nick and all the others participating, represent KY well.
  20. St. Henry did a great job with their motion offense but a huge problem for Cooper is both their starting bigs spent the entire 2nd qtr on the bench with 2 fouls and when the starting 5 didn't respond well at the start of the 3rd Coach Sullivan cleared the bench with next five and went on a nice 12-4 run to regain the lead. Bottom line is this, take nothing away from St. Henry but Cooper legitimately goes 10-11 deep which very few, if any, can say that in the 9th region. The problem for them is they are still trying to "figure it out". If they do, they can make it to Lexington, if not, it'll most likely be an early exit. It is scary to think what this team could be if they can ever put it together consistently. Big games coming up with Holmes and CovCath so we will see just what they are, pretenders or contenders.......
  21. I played in college with both Meril and Marty (who actually started his college ball at Idaho State) and I've followed Tristen a little from back in Poky. Looks like he's had a great career in high school and will make a great player at the next level like his pops and uncle. Best of luck to all the participants.
  22. Well this couldn't be more well put. Funny how NKY players make 1st, 2nd and HM on "somebody's" list the don't even appear on others. You'd think voters are living in a different State altogether. These list are worth about as much as the paper they are written on and that's no disrespect to to players that made it. Until someone comes up with a legitimate way to more accurately create these teams this will always be somebody's popularity contest. I find it laughable at some of the reasons as to "why he's on the team". Stuff like "he's a good tackler, a good leader, played well despite being injured" with no statistical information further proves my point that this is a joke. Hell every team has a player or two with those creditials, lmao!! I've seen pee wee leagues methodology for selecting their post-season awards done better. No since complaining, it is what it is even if it is worthless.
