Spot on. TD certainly was overlooked. He's only a sophomore will be a top player next year without a doubt the next 2 seasons. When you look Blaakar's body of work and having to do more with a far less supporting cast than what McGillis has (I.e. two other players on the 1st team) he was very deserving. Both players absolutely are deserved to share that award IMO.

Your quote about student taking teacher to school sounded like Coach Johnson had some great game plan to execute vs his former mentor, which couldn’t be further from the truth. This was about HC having a far better talented team with horses that SH certainly doesn’t have, nothing more.

If SH could leave their starters in they’d fine. Jumped out to 9-0 lead then 13-5. Subs came and immediately gave up the lead. 16-15 in the 2nd qtr.

Couldn’t agree more. With what he had to endure over the last year, this would be nothing but fitting to make it to the Regional tournament.

Great questions for both teams! I know SH struggles with consistency during games but when they play the way their coach wants them to they have gotten better since that earlier loss to Dixie. Game could be a "toss up" IMO.

The Dixie - SH district game could be interesting. Not sure what is going on at Dixie given they are on a 5 game losing streak including a head scratcher to Cooper. The first match-up vs SH was anyone's game through 3 qtrs before SH let it get away from them in the 4th giving the Colonels a convincing win. A trip to the regionals is at stake so that ball could bounce either way ?‍♂️or maybe be held either way ?

Julian Knuckles will be a major player next season in this region.

Coach Walker did what he needed to do to win the game and come away with the #1 seed in the district. While many don't like it, his mission is to win the game and if holding the ball was the best way to win the game so be it. I'm not sure he lost much sleep worrying about what the fans were thinking ? On the flip side, the shot clock will remedy this issue but it's not here yet so coaches will have to adjust and find ways to trap, force turnovers or rushed shots when this occurs, which doesn't happen too often.

Accurate and a clear definition of "not starting it but dang sure don't have to run from it either". Bottom line is the freshman coach had ZERO business getting up off the bench and saying anything while Sullivan was having a discussion with the official, especially when the coach in question was hired by Coach Sully years ago.

Cooper does have a very talented coach in Holthaus and he will get them back to winning ways just like he did with his girls teams. I will say that if Coach Sullivan was still the coach, there would have been players that would have stayed and possibly others would have come. As you stated, having the players that left such as Roman Combs, one of the best players now in Ohio playing for the #2 team in the state, and Parker Lutz as the true PG would not have made this a total rebuild year when coupled with Knuckles and Philpot along with some of the very nice young pieces from the rest of the varsity and JV roster. I can assure you that they would have more than 3 wins and still been a contender in the 33rd. Again, this has nothing to do with Coach Holthaus who, as I stated, is a very good coach and even better person. The administration got what they wanted and pushed Coach Sully out because of so-called "Culture" issues so it is what it is. Sully has coached no different than he has the last 18 years and is definitely doing more with less guiding St. Henry to more wins than they've had in the last 2 years. That is great coaching and why he is the best in NKY IMO. Great game and the most attendance SH has had all year so good support from both fan bases.

Looks like Culture has made it over to St. Henry ???? Officiating was HORRID at best for both teams as 2/3 officials didn’t seem to have a clue!! The biggest battle to me came when the Cooper ASSISTANT Coach, who was employed by Sully at one point, gets off the bench and runs his mouth to Sully at half court as he’s talking to the official which led to them having words. Why is he even off the bench in the first place?! Then to top it off, he gets out of the handshake line just before it’s time to shake hands with Sully at the end of the game! Hope Holthaus checks him.

Tale about of 2 halves. BW could not miss n the first half hitting 8 3s. SH fights back in the 2nd half while BW played several mins of stall ball. SH has gotten better but still not at the level of where Coach Sullivan will have the program in next couple years. I will say BW has the strongest chance to get to the regional championship if they are opposite CCH. I see them having all the pieces to contend as they are long, defend and shoot very well.

I'd be shocked if Coach Perrin joins this staff for the obvious reason, not to mention I believe he is still on staff as Holy Cross' OC and they had good nucleus returning on the offensive side of the ball. Stranger things have happened so never say never.

Well earned and well deserved! Chase will do an excellent job as he is well qualified. Glad to see Coach Trosper's image come to fruition.

Agree that Jacob will be a major contributor at some point, but I see him in the same mold as Isaiah Jones, 6'2" 230lbs, who can play in space by being in the right place at the right time. Either way his future is bright and he definitely chose the right school to continue his educational and athletic career. Look forward to seeing him in the future.

Following the young man over his varsity career, I don't see Savage as that type of player. I see him as a player who's going to work his tail off to find a way to contribute, right away or in the future. He's definitely a Cignetti type player, "TEAM over me". Grass isn't always greener as about 6500 players in the portal that STILL don't have a home! As soon as a player puts his name in the portal, 95% of the coaches cross that player off the list and go find their replacement and a return to the current team is HIGHLY unlikely.

Congrats to Newport for advancing but this was a 4-7 point game through 3qtrs and SH went into a zone and that clearly kept them in the game. Newport made no more than 5 perimeter shots in the game but dominated in the paint and at the FT line. Simply had too many athletes for SH to contend with in the 4th qtr having to revert back to man-man.

I would say that's common in most cases. What becomes a grey area is when one or two of those coaches are also interested in said job and they have to decide if they want to be a part of the new staff.

Should be 2 really good games tonight. Curious to see if SH continues its' consistency vs. a very good and athletic Newport squad. If anything, watching the two head coaches is worth the price of admission ? BW and HC should be a great battle as well!

Kind of like Chase Floyd is doing right now....Just sayin.

Not speaking of the competition, but this was the most complete game the Cru has played all year. Limited turnovers, solid defensively and appeared to run Coach Sully's offense with better efficiency. Hoping the consistency continues as Coach Sully continues to build the program in his image. Will be good to see the program in a couple of years.
