Lloyd Memorial 48 Conner 45 (OT)
Mr. Sixer replied to SnottieDrippen's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
EXACTLY!! There may be favorites but NOTHING is guaranteed in the 9th! It’s why the game is played. -
The Jags put together probably their best game in a month and plays 4 qtrs of traditional Cooper basketball that Coach Sully has been looking for. Next week’s district tournament should be real interesting.
-
No spin and Newport won and well deserved. If you’ve been familiar with the way this team has played of late you’d understand my point which is they played more like a Sullivan coached team than not which is a positive.
-
If you call holding the ball and not playing then yeah, I guess you can call that patience. My point is regardless of the flow of the game, Cooper only giving up 44 points is more common of a Coach Sullivan team.

Much better defense by the Jags judging by the score. Hoping this team figures it out at the right time and pulls off an upset or two come tourney time.

Boone County 80 Bishop Brossart 64

Congrats to Coach Browning and his team. Been a tough season for Coach Browning but he keeps his team swinging. -
I think you just agreed with what has been said. CCH is still the favorite, no one doubts that. However, you just rattled off several teams that on any given night, similar to some CCH’s very close games of late that “could have” easily went the other way, they, as well as any team, can slip up, have an off night shooting or heaven forbid someone gets injured like some teams have experienced this season and anything can happen. You're correct, until someone knocks them off, they are favorite.

9th region coach of the year?
Mr. Sixer replied to Hoops Junkie's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Definitely Coach Snapp would get my vote. There are games to be played still for sure but what Coach Snapp has done with this done his very young group should certainly be commended. -
Congratulations and I know it may take some time but hopefully the future will be brighter for the Bulldogs. Kudos to the players and coaches for hanging in there during the tough times. The 9th region is always better when Holmes is competitive.

Covington Catholic 78 Cooper 69 (OT)
Mr. Sixer replied to Runcible Owl's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Does it really matter? I just stated facts and if Coach Sully was really mad about CCH transfers why in world would he really go back to playing them this year after skipping one year? I know coach Sully directly well enough to know he has never ducked anyone and he does things the right way. The “he said, she said” stuff is typical but pretty funny. Should be a fun district and regional tourney. -
Covington Catholic 78 Cooper 69 (OT)
Mr. Sixer replied to Runcible Owl's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Hilarious!! Cooper was a "boycott ringleader?" You know this how about Cooper? Cooper has played CCH every year since it's establishment in 2008, yet they miss 1 year (in the regular season because they still played in the regionals) and all of the sudden the Jags are salty because of transfers. Sorry that ship doesn't sail with this school. CCH has had transfers long before last season so no one at Cooper cares. You can find someone esle to point that finger at because Coach Sully's teams will line up and play no matter the circumstance. No hypocrisy from the Jaguars camp but you are correct, the transfer you mention will be a benefit to the basketball program 😉 -
Covington Catholic 78 Cooper 69 (OT)

Yes. Thus my comment earlier of Cooper looking SIGNIFICANTLY different come tourney time. -
Covington Catholic 78 Cooper 69 (OT)

Great game and tremendous comeback by the Jags after being down 13 to force OT. CCH found a was to close it out made a ton of FTs down the stretch. One thing for certain there was no quit by the Jags and Cooper will look significantly different come tourney time. -
Covington Catholic at Cooper Predictions/Updates

Don’t ever count a Coach Sullivan team!!! They will fight to the end!! -
Cooper's Whitney Lind gets her 2000th point
Mr. Sixer replied to 859Radio's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Great accomplishment for Whitney and the Cooper program that has only been in existence for 15 years. I would be curious to know where she is vs. the boys all-time leading scorers. She may lead both before she is done this season if she's not already there. I know Adam Kunkel and Sean McNeil both have to be at the top for the boys. -
Taking Newport in this one. I said at the beginning of the season this young team had a chance to be really good and Coach Snap’s team is doing really well.
-
Nice comeback win for Cooper who looked out of sorts in the first half. Coach Sully is getting the most out of this group since losing Caleb Brooks to injury for the season.

Newport 57 Highlands 50
Mr. Sixer replied to Runcible Owl's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I said before the season started that this team had the potential to be really good and a STRONG contender for the 9th and they are proving just that. The scary part is they are very young and producing.
