The 8th Region tournament is slated to be played at Carroll County pending inspection and approval by KHSAA. What type of facilities do they have? What is the condition and dimensions of the field?

Can't argue with that. It's really unfair only one team from those regions can compete in the State Tournament. Watching the 11th region tournament is arguably a better ticket than the state tournament.

Maybe the past couple of years and possibly this year. Butler and DeSales have nice traditions. A couple teams are not really competitive. But every region will have down cycles and teams that struggle each year. What region would you say is the toughest?

No problem. Honest mistake. I do it all the time. 6th Region is a bear of a Region. Good hardnose baseball. Good to play as many of them as you can to gauge how good you are.

Must have been the 10th region in '79. Shelby Co. was State Champion that year so they would have won the 8th region.

Now that's a baseball school!

Northern Kentucky sure loves their baseball. I think there are more supporters and posts for their area than anyone else on this forum. :dancingpa

Don't think that will happen for some time.

I think you meant high school teams but you are correct for college as well. I remember many of my early season college games were played during light snow showers and very cold temps.

It is weather like this that makes the investment in sports turf pay off. St. X could play 2 hours after the snow melts off.

Is there a clear favorite to win the 9th region and go to Applebee's? I do not get to see many of the 9th region games.

You're right. These kids were selected by the region coaches in the same manner as the Junior/Senior East-West All-Stars. In addition to the returning players you listed, Eric Standafer of Shelby Co. was also an alternate for the West Junior all-stars. James Knezevich of Oldham Co. and Nick Harley of North Oldham were also selected as alternates. Belated congratulations to these young men. Way to go, 8th Region!

He certainly can swing the bat. If memory serves me, he is a big pull hitter. At least that was how he hit it in a game I observed last year. Very nice swing.

Agree. Craig and Wise are very two of the top players. Yes, Wise was selected to the sophomore showcase last summer. According to the KHSBCA website, Wise, Wade Mason of Oldham Co. and Tyler Tipton of Shelby Co. were the other sophomores selected from the 8th Region. Should be a competitive year in the 8th Region.
