Conner 2010

Any thoughts on Conner's program this spring?

Yes, Ryle will kill them.

:D:D Sorry, just thought I'd put a little excitement into this thread right from the start.

Conner should be tough. Solid pitching staff and some nice hitting returning. 33rd is going to be extremely competitive this year, as Conner, Ryle, and Boone are poised for strong seasons, and I think Cooper is going to be greatly improved also. Should be fun.

I would have to agree. Except for the Ryle killing them part:lol:

The 33rd may be the toughest district in the 9th this year. All three teams have solid pitching. But I think with West, Samad, and Russel returning to the mound they could be tough to beat. I have also heard Conner's Jody Hubbard isn't playing his senior season. Can anyone confirm this?

I heard the same thing, but I haven't talked to him personally! If Russell doesnt make some noise this pitching staff could be a little thin, after Samad althuogh West did have a very season good season last year, they don't have a whole lot! Don't be surprised if Pugh sees some innings on the hill this year, and that could be scary!:scared: :lol:

Is there a clear favorite to win the 9th region and go to Applebee's? I do not get to see many of the 9th region games.

You can never tell this early. Just have to wait for the games to start. And I would agree that Pugh will most definately get some innings this year.

Good pitching can take you far and Dixie appears to have the best overall staff in the 9th, including the likely top pitcher (Smallwood). However, because of the way they've set up the regional tournament this season, some of that advantage is negated because most teams will be able to survive on their top two guys. I'm just a tad biased, but I do think the regional champ will come out of the 33rd district (Boone, Cooper, Conner, Ryle).

If Dixie doesnt win the 9th then it'll be one of these three teams. I just dont think Boone has the hitting to go deep in the 9th. Only kid I can think of that will be a threat at the plate for the Rebs is Dunaway and maybe Teegarden. Teegarden will be the ace this year, even as a sophomore IMHO.

Teegarden is a very good hitter as well. I'm not sure how many at bats he received in Varsity last year but he will hit when given the opportunity.

Even over Deno? Who I beleive was their ace last year?

I would think Cotton and Alford qualify as very legitimate hitters. Laumann has also shown to have some pop with the stick. I think Boone's hitting will compare reasonably with most anyone in the 9th quite frankly. It's their pitching that I question the depth.

BTW, how did this turn into a Boone thread? :D

Teegarden has grown a bit more over the winter and has alot more zip on his fast ball along with his off speed. He went undefeated last year for varsity and will have a solid bat. IMHO Teegarden is the ace, then either Deno or Laumann.

Wasn't this post supposed to be about Conner! :idunno:

Sorry about that it got off topic :isurrender: but anyways i heard that Nick West and Jody Hubbard wasn't playing baseball this season. Anyone know if that is true or not? If so thats a huge blow to the pitching staff of a good contending Connor team.

West would be a tremendous loss for Conner. Not playing to try and concentrate on getting some football offers perhaps?
