Walton Verona Baseball Field Best in Nation

Featured Replies

Congrats to them! A very nice honor.

Though I must admit, as nice as it is, I find it hard to believe that it's the best high school field in the nation. Frankly, I think St. Henry's field is nicer. But no question WV's is a sweet place.

Any picture's of either of these fields?

It's good to see WV's name in the newspaper, so congrats.

Now, I hate to rain on the parade but I guess I will. It's a nice baseball field but anyone that has seen plenty of baseball fields would realize that it may not even be the nicest field in Northern Kentucky let alone in the nation. Let's just say that it would be nice if the amount of time that was spent working on the field was also used toward developing baseball players. Why spend time on teaching kids how to run on to the field, or worry about what color hanger you use for your uniform or if you know how to pick up rocks from the infield....teach kids how to hit and run, teach them how to field the baseball, throw strikes or understand situations.

Focus more on the game then where it's played.

Congratulations. Great article. Yes, I would love to see pictures, too.

I am going to have to agree with the other posters. WV, while it is as coop said sweet, it isn't even the nicest in NKy! Heck I love the new Cooper diamond, but it isn't yet as nice as St. Henry either

In the Commonwealth I can think of about five or six diamonds that even make St. Henry diamond look sick. You need to see the Boyd County field, Louisville St. X, Male, and PRP before you can count WV as the best in the Commonwealth, much less the nation.

Seems like there should have been a picture with the article. Oh well.:idunno:

Haven't seen Boyd, but the three above are first-rate. St. X is all synthetic turf, including the dirt (which I don't particularly care for), and the surroundings (dugouts, stands, press box, batting cages) are unreal. Male is as nice a grass field as they come and their setup around the field is also outstanding. PRP is also a terrific field. I heard they were putting in turf during the off-season. And I agree that all three of these are better than WV. Though again, the intent here is not to bash WV. It is a very nice place.

Cooper's field is even better than last year and as far as the field itself I would put it up against any of them. The difference in say, St. Henry, is the seating and such which makes it an even better atmosphere. Cooper still won't have a concession building, close restrooms, etc. which will take time.

Even though I have not seen Boyd and St. X, I will have to agree with Coop and TOG because they both know what good high school fields look like. I saw Male last year and thought it was awesome.

I would put Dunbar down for one of the nicest in the Commonwealth.

Any online photos?

Not connected with the article. Maybe some WV supporters can link in or post some pics for everyone.

Is the field at the school?

Is the field at the school?

No, a community park a few miles from the school. The school has exclusive right over use of the field, however.
