Anyone who has been a part of a winning program like St. X would be a great hire for any school.

Your right about that, the whole thing was taken to far. With our media today that's whats happens when a story like this is let out. It did make for a lot of excitement over the past day or so. Scott County will be favored to win the 11th for the next 3or 4 years. Does that mean they will? No. Hicks does an outstanding job with player development and letting the players play within his system. There is a reason why players want to play for Hicks, it's because he will prepare them for the next level.

Rainman pretty much hit the nail on the head with it. In the past, the coaches would get what they wanted because they made money for the school. The Toyota Classic alone makes the school enough money to run most of its sports programs. With new Adminstration some of these coaches are not getting what they once did. Im sure most of Scott County would be sad to see Hick's and other coaches go, but if he does leave for else where I do not think he will be last.

I could not agree more. My problem is the "letting go" of a good teacher to get a coach. And the term "letting go" is such a open term so people can think a lot when that is said. Best of luck to the new coach there he has some shoes to fill. When are they going to "offically" name the coach?

Shelby will most likely be preseason favorite, but with Oldham looking for a new coach it could get interesting. North and South Oldham return a solid core as well. Walton also returns pretty much all of their young team from last year and will probably be the favorite to win the All "A" 8th region. Gallatin also returns a lot of experinecedyouth from last years team and Owen might have the best 4 and 5 pair in the region with Shelton and Colligan (SP). Look for Henry County to be solid again next year, they played most of this year with hurt players and won the All "A" with about half a team due to the flu. Not sure about what teams like Grant and Anderson return. Has anyone heard anymore about the redistricting?

Didn't they try that the first time and that lasted two weeks!

The Spec. ed. position was Anticipated. I have no ties to TC other than a couple of college friends teaching there. What I have heard is that a couple of teachers are going to be let go to give the new football coach a job and allow for him to maybe get an assistant as well. I have no problem with a district getting a new coach a teaching job and giving that coach a job over someone else because he is a coach. I do have a problem a district letting a good teacher go to give a coach a teaching job. I can understand if those teachers being let go are not doing their job, but from what I hear those teachers are great in the classroom and with the students. How can you justify this? Do not think that I am trying to bash coaches because I am not. Like everyone else on this site I enjoy watching Kentucky High School sports.

There are a couple of teachers in the district that are not having their contracts renewed for next year so the new coach can have a teaching position. Often times when a new coach comes into a district they will get a teaching job, but you don't let teachers go that are doing a great job in the classroom. Even schools that are strong in sports don't do this.

Not to undermind anyone, but the talent might not be great, The up coming group, will do good. we just do not know where they will be.

I am going to say Jackson from SC on this for the next season. I know that now he might now be there, but give him time and he will be top 10 in the nation in the positions 1-3. He can play all 3 depending on the school he goes to. But all is likely to how he does over the summer and fall! Also what about Connor Jeffries from Henry County from the 8th, he has the chance to be the best guard in the region. I am not saying this boy is the best, but he should get mentioned!:laugh:

So who will do the best job next year? This does not mean who will win the most games, but rather build on the program that they have taken over! Any front runners before the season starts? Its early lets have some fun!:dancingpa

I have not read much on this thread, but I think that kids playing AAU for "BIG TEAMS" is a great idea. It allows for most kids to get out of the state to play and get college coaches to see them more. I know some teams are loaded and some teams aren't, but I will agree with others how do KY boys get on Teams from three and four states away? Again I have not read much on this post.

What are those loose ends, letting a GOOD teacher go to hire a unproven football coach? Not trying to step on anyones' feet, but I have heard from some people in the area that the new football coach has been selected and pretty much hired with expection of the contract being signed.

I had the chance to work with some of the Bracken players at a camp last summer, who do they return? Is the shooter coming back? I am not sure of his name but I know he had blond hair and glasses.

Sorry, I thought they graduated more than only 4 seniors.

Who ever gets the job is going to have a rough first year, most of the players coming back are young. Not to mention there was not spring practice for the players that are not in spring sports. Good luck to the next coach their work will be cut out for them and the staff.

Has anyone heard anything about jobs open in the Lexington area and surrounding counties? I saw on other threads that people thought Paris was open due to Coach Barr retiring, but I have not heard anything else about that.

Both of those names would be a great fit for the Oldham job. I could see the job going to someone inside the Oldham County area though. I think Holland would be a better fit for the job because he is younger and I would think that Oldham would look for someone to be around for 10+ years, or 20 + like Coach Forrest. Either of the two would be loyal to the program and wouldn't win and leave, based upon the fact that they have been offered bigger jobs before and turned them down. Anyone have ideas about how good the upcoming classes are for Oldham?
