Coach Norman is a good guy and coach. My opinion is that one of his assistants (who has a history of) turned on him to the administration.

 

He actually had Iroquois, bad as it is, going in the right direction. Kids played hard for him, and he had a pretty young team last year. Probably wouldn't have challenged J.Hardin for the title, but would have been competitive with BC, a rebuliding Doss and Waggener. Whatever the case a big loss.

 

Betting now that he will be rejoin with Preston. If so, a big gain for the Charger program.

Coach Norman is on this board, and out of respect to him I don't really want to say on here "what I have heard".

 

I do know one of his assistants was being considered for a place on my staff last season (Western). Right at the end of last school year (about three weeks after we got hired) he went behind our staff's backs and started telling our AD/Principal things that had no truth to them, in an attempt to get Coach Boyd fired and for him to take over. Of course Boyd didn't hire him after hearing what he had done, and he ended up over at Iroquois.

 

I don't know if this assistant had any role in Coach Norman's removal, but it wouldn't suprise me if he did.

 

Again, I feel for Coach Norman, even if his removal was warranted, he put his heart into that program where a lot of other coaches would have walked away, and was starting to get some results.

Shawn was our D-Coordinator at Ballard last year (did a great job -- was major part of how much we improved by the end of the year). However, because he teaches at Male (south end of Louisville, by the airport) it made it too difficult for him to feel like he could do the job the way it needed be done at a school on the northeast end of the county.

 

Won't be long until someone snatches him up for a head coaching position somewhere -- he's QUALITY in lots of ways (math certified, has taught calculus, great character guy).

When I played we had 80 Juniors/Seniors Also had leather helmets.

Iroquois going to be able to fill this job before school is out?

Maybe the powers that be will consider combining the two.(Atherton and Iroquois). It could be a cost cutting measure and make them more competative. Whatta think?
