They got six kids that are 6'4" or better. Each one weighs over 290 and is benching 425+. Seriously, they have some nice sized kids on the line, but need some more depth. They are frantically getting ready for the season...not just one opponent. My guess would be that they are more concerned with Bell, Corbin, Wayne, and McCreary than they are Simon Kenton.

Rebels are coming of the best season in school history as they finished with an 8-4 mark and advanced to the second round of the playoffs. There was some loss of depth, but there is some remaining talent let at the skill position. QB Will Hatter is a four year starter, tailback Alex Bolin returns as one of the teams best rushers, while Tyler Hayes and James Burton should be two of Hatter's favorite targets when Casey goes to the air. Long-time coach Andy Stephens has departed for an assistant's position at Southwestern and first year coach Sam Marple returns to the helm of Casey. The toughest thing for Casey is realignment which results in annual match-ups with Corbin and Bell County. Still, the Rebels will get a boost of enthusiasm from their new coach and will ride some of the momentum gained from last year and should make another trip to the playoffs come November.

Forty-six people have viewed and no one has responded. I got my answer, the game resumes in the top of the fourth. Problem is getting the visiting team to return. Boyle County left Casey County after a shower on Friday night...the sun was coming out when Boyle loaded up on the bus....my guess is they will not return to Liberty to pick up an "L".

He did not step down because of the class change. He is not afraid to play anybody, go back and look at his 2003 and 04 schedules. Also played Mercer the year they won the championship and the year after. He does not have another football job for sure, so he will stay at Casey if nothing materializes. I am not shocked. Twelve years (2 as assistant, 10 as HC) is a long time to serve in a system that does not place a priority on football. He fought a lot of battles just to maintain and I believe he just got tired of fighting. Best of luck to him....he is a class act and will do well no matter where he goes. He is leaving the program in the best shape it has ever been. Last year was first playoff win ever and finished with an 8-4 record (also a best ever).

What impresses me most about Sara Hammonds is the kind of young lady she is. I have a good friend who has a daughter in that program and he tells me she is the real deal as a person. As good as she is as a basketball player, her humility and her integrity will take her much further in life than anything she has ever done with a basketball in her hand. I have been watching her for a long time and I am going to miss "00" for the Lady Rockets. Congratulations to Coach Noble and all the Lady Rockets.

I guess Madison Central didn't just roll over. I thought the Lady Rockets would win bigger, but I believe this shows that 15 other teams wanted to win this thing when it started.

That's what I'm basing my prediction on. Casey beat MC by 5 on their home floor and the Lady Rebels never played Rock closer than 9 in four meetings. I believe there is just too much Rock in the opening round.

No problem....but I would never say that. I believe Rock has a chance to win it all, but I will agree with one of the other posters. There are 15 other teams that want to win the thing, too.

How did you tell Casey County? We all knew it was Rock's to lose. Don't forget, the Lady Rebels lost their leading scorer on Monday night against Lincoln. Would it have changed the outcome? Probably not. Would it have made the championship game closer? Hard to believe that one of the leading scorers in the Region wouldn't have made an impact.

Rockcastle has an opportunity to make a serious run next week. Best of luck to them in representing the 12th.

Thanks for the well wishes. I must admit, I was worried in the first quarter, but they hung around and played like they have all season. It is unreal to believe Casey could overcome all the adversity they have endured and make it to a regional final.

I have great respect for Chrysti Noble, but given the circumstances, I think Randy Salyers is the Coach of the Year in the 12th. He has overcome tremendous adversity to get back to the regional final again. I thought it was a 90-10 chance that Rock would win the Region before Coffman got hurt. I would say it is something like 99-1 now, but I am so proud of Coach Salyers and his team. I work with a Rockcastle dad and he tells me so many stories about the respect that Lawerence, Hammond, Coffman, and Pittman have for each other. I love to watch them battle on the court and then walk away and leave it there and be friends afterwards. That's the way high school athletics should be.
