Chris Tracy is a very good coach and Franklin County may win some more regular season games but they wont win anymore playoff games unless their district gets moved or Boyle moves out west. And yes my comments carry a lot more weight than you think. Covington Holmes is also moving into that district so dont think your district will be a cake walk either. Franklin County from the top down is a LONG LONG way from having a shot at beating any of the three I mentioned earlier.

They might have some of the best teams they have ever had but they still wont go any further in the playoffs than they did this year.

They may have some of the better teams the school has ever had but you also need to look who they will have to beat in the playoffs to make a serious run. Lexington Catholic, Boyle, Bell all in a row. Good luck with that one.

I love Coach Graham, one of the best coaches in the state in my opinion but wouldn't you think since he is retired right now that it might put up a red flag that he will not be at Franklin County very long if he is hired? I would think Coach Graham would only be there 3 years at the most unless he is trying to do a 100 day contract like Larkey has done at Harlan, but I do not think Franklin County is the type of district to let that happen. Would they want to do this Coaching Hiring all over again in just a couple of years?

I noticed today that the Newport job has been posted on the KHSAA website now here either Friday evening or today. Wondering why if they are going to hire soon was it just posted on there yesterday or today?

Oh I agree 100% that if you made an open enrollement a Lexington Football team would at least compete for a state championship most of the years. But this is not Stu's goal. He does not want one school to stick out in education and in sports while others fail. I'll be honest if I had to point my finger and say what the main problem in Lexington is in sports. Their problem is the Board of Education doesn't try to be great in one thing, but they try to be ok in everything. Soccer gets the same treatment as football, the band is no smaller than the basketball team. A football coach has the same teaching job as someone who does no extra curriculur activities. Its the most politically correct place you will see. Its very hard to be great at everything. Trinity for example puts their money and efforts into football. If you look at their basketball court vs. their football field you can see where the effort is put into. FCPS will not put one over the other and you get a watered down effort in all of your sports. So for the most part you wont see Lexington as a whole be terrible (for the most part) but dont expect them to win any championships either, or even be very close.

I will say there is a lot of hear say and talk about "how talented Lexington is" year to year, and "there are tons of players in the halls" at certain schools, which some of that is people's opinion and not the truth. Look at Dunbar, Lafayette, and Tates Creek for the last several years. Not that many D1 players came out of those schools. I know at Dunbar there are not many even playing College Football. In my opinion (which is my own but educated) these are some main factors in Lexington being so bad right now. 1. Talent as a whole is not what it once was in Lexington. Bryan Station and Henry Clay have had the majority of the talent and this year it showed. Station has always been an under achiever in most people's eyes, not only from outside Lexington, but in the city limits as well. Station has a great coach now and they are improving greatly as Highlands found out this year. 2. Stu Silberman being a Superintendent has hurt all the schools. His focus is not about winning football games. It would be nice if the schools won a lot of games but if he can keep the parents off his back, and his name out of the Lexington Herald Leader with anything negative then he is ok. I dont know how it works in Jefferson County but Stu Silberman is like a figure head of the county. Know one really knows him and I hate to say Principals in the County "not all" are like that as well. You might meet one of them 3 years down the road if you coach. I seriously doubt it would take Trinity's Administration 3 years to meet some of there football coaches but I can not say the same for some schools in FCPS. 3. Lexington Catholic and LCA have hurt the schools as well. Lexington when they were close to winning state championships in previous times had talented players but did not have players going to Ohio State and Florida left and right which I know Trinity has had players do that the past two seasons. Lexington does not have as many talented football players as many may think. I would honestly say in a years time their may be 10 D1 players in the city at best and that includes D1AA. Two more schools just watered down the public schools from on a good year being able to win a state title to now on a good year, making the final four and getting whacked by Trinity. 4. On a positive not Lafayette is MUCH better than they were in the late 90's. They were getting killed by everyone and now they are possibly the best team in the city next to Henry Clay, who they did beat this year, and 3 out of the last 4 seasons. And Henry Clay has had some good football teams the last few years. I honestly think in 2006 Henry Clay was better than St. X and that makes a good football team. When you put those 3 main points together you go from being a very good football team, to being ok which is what most of the public schools in Lexington are right now with the exception of a few who are just awful and there problems go deeper than these I mentioned. Stu does make Head Coaches be teachers and it is an awfully hard load to carry and it would be nice if they treated coaches better and let them just be head football coaches, but I assure you that will not happen.

Winning has nothing to do with what the Superintendent wants. As long as the parents are happy then he is happy. Its almost like Pee Wee everyone should play, "its all about the kids":rolleyes:

I'm not saying Bell couldnt win the title of the old 3A but it would be rough. Johnson Central had moved down to 3A so Bell would have had to beat them in the Regional Championship Game, then beat Highlands, and turn around and beat Louisville Central, or perhaps Boyle on turf. It would have not been easy for them.

Well in the Regular Season that may hold some truth to it but not in the playoffs. I remember a lot of Highlands fans complaining about homer calls in 04 when they were at Bell but most people dont know that refs in the playoffs are assigned from different parts of the state to do these games. I don't know who will be the refs at this game but they will not be homers.

Actually I think Bell not punting much this season may hurt them in this big game. If you have watched Boyle over the years one trait they have always had going back into their title runs is they COME AFTER YOUR PUNTS. If a long snapper has not had many reps snapping in games this season one average snap may cost you a football game against Boyle cause they are coming. Their long snapper this week will snap more this week then they have all season.

Central is playing LCA next year too. Paul Rains was Madison Central's previous coach with a loaded football team next year at LCA and Madison Central will be way down. This sounds interesting to me.

You might want to get your facts straight. Since I knew the program better than anyone on this site ALL of what I said is true. The AD got out so he can save him self of the rath of parents, cause he was next. You need to talk with these individuals before you make posts like this. Talk to the former head football coach at Dunbar, talk to the Principals and talk to Barren and see if you get the answer that you are talking about.

Now you see why there were not many applicants for the Dunbar job this time around. What head coach would leave a program to come to something that is as bad as Dunbar? Dunbar looks good if you are driving down the road on Man O War but if you hang around for a while you will find out what really goes on there. And its going to get worse. They may be worse next year than this year, it could be an 0-11 season for them with the seniors they have returning.

Not really, if the parents dont get what they want from the Principal and AD they will bigfoot them and go to the Superintendent and try to replace the Principals along with the Football Coaches. Anyone notice the AD from Dunbar is different this year as well as roles in the Administration were changed?:eek: Shocking how all that happend with a new football coach coming in as well.

Stu Silberman lets them. If you dont like coach just go whine to him and they will get a new one.

Marty Jaggers was hired for about a weekend and left the program when he found out how Dunbar is run.

Parents run the show over there and I mean they RUN THE SHOW. They hire and fire coaches, decides who plays and who doesnt. Its all about playing their sons on Friday Night. Since November of 2000 Dunbar has had 6 head coaches. SIX HEAD FOOTBALL COACHES. One not many are aware of but 6 is the correct number.

Hal Mumme's/Tony Franklin System cant touch what Coverdale does. Try drawing up Trinity's formations on a board and you will see what I mean.
