  1. Defense is ahead of the offense at this point. They look very strong up front. Oline is playing with several combinations. Kragthorpe looked good for the most part, Xavier Thomas looks like a stud in the back field. Receiving corps are very deep and fast. We'll know much more after Moehler visits this Friday night.
  2. I believe SHA was also #1 in the country in Field Hockey.
  3. It's not an evil witch doctor, it's just called getting out coached!
  4. I know the family and coached the kid in grade school. Daylen is a special talent to be sure. However, it takes more than one kid to win this game.
  5. Condolences from a former player. I enjoyed the Doug & Dave show of the 70's.
  6. The Tigers are starting to roar after winning the 7 on 7 at UofL. They have alot of speed according to them. Another year of hearing Bigger, Stronger, Faster.:puke:
  7. Robert Watson ran a 4.7 at the Blue/Gray Combine. Not bad for a Rock D lineman! I think the Rocks will have speed to contain this season.
  8. I was speaking with a member of the Coaching family and he told me they got just about all the CSAA kids they wanted and said this team will be more talented than last years team.
  9. My son participated in a the Blue-Gray Showcase camp in Cincinnati last weekend. They run it like an NFL combine. Even though coaches are not able to attend, the information they tracked during this day will be available to college coaches through their website. The initial benefit from the camp was it showed my son he can compete with kids that were bigger than him in both height and weight and is looking forward to his senior season.
  10. :thumb:I attended the Blue-Gray Midwest Combine in Cincinnati this past weekend and came away impressed with three lineman, Jacob Smith of Newport Catholic, Robert Watson of Trinity and Zane Karrer of St. X. Karrer & Watson got after each other in one on one drills like all good rivals do.
  11. The make up of a footbal player and team changes dramatically from Freshman football to JV as Sophomores, Juniors and to that Senior season. What I said is Trinity's system allows kids to continue to play in games and gain experience as Juniors instead of just using them for mop up duty in Varsity games their Junior year. That has been the biggest difference between T & X from my viewpoint. If you are basing your prediction for this season off of what happened with these kids two or three years ago, you obviously have never played the game.
  12. Coach Beatty believes in getting his second string Varsity as many reps as possible versus letting them sit idle their Junior season like St.X has been known to do. If you are a Sophomore or Junior and you are on that second string, you are going to play JV until it's your turn to step up and start on Varsity. My son started two season's (Sophomore and Junior years) on JV and played mop up minutes on Varsity as a Junior. Being a Senior dominated program year in and out, this gives Trinity's players real game experience to step in their Senior season and make an impact. It's called developing your talent. I believe the light finally went off last season on Poplar Level Road. I'm told X played more Juniors on JV than they have in the past.
  13. Here we go again, another season of Bigger and Better coming from Poplar Level Road. Trinity doesn't need the play that mind game. I'll take our system, our conditioning program and our system for developing talent by playing them on JV so they are better suited to start as Seniors over X's system anyday.
  14. I reality, Central should move up to 4A or 5A.
  15. :isurrender::isurrender:As I mentioned, he doesn't think the Tigers can make it through the playoffs to play the Rocks a second time.
  16. Beatty will have a morning walk through just to get the kids out of bed and thinking football all day.
  17. UofL does own the stadium and it's their revenue loss. I am sure they have their reasons. We can only continue to speculate. As far as the Friday game, this is UofL's only Nationally televised game for the 2009 season. They need all of the exposure they can get. It's sad what two years have done to this once building program.
  18. Tom Jurich does not have a say when it comes to ESPN telecasts. ESPN owns the rights to Big East football and UofL and any other conference team plays the game when TV dictates. Why do you think we still do not have a time for the UK/Bama game? TV dictates the time. As far as the UK NIT game, this had nothing to do with TV contracts or Mitch wanting to help the KHSAA. They played in Memorial because Rupp was booked in advance pure and simple. Back in the late 80's UofL actually played an early NIT game in Broadbent Arena because Freedom Hall was booked in advance.
  19. Surely the Tigers will be good enough to get through the playoffs for a rematch against the Rocks.
  20. Great game? UK/Alabama? Seriously Trinity/X will be the better battle.
  21. I like this better than Sunday afternoon. We can spend the afternoon tailgating and then enjoy the game. I also have family coming in to see the game and they were going to have to wait until Monday to fly out. Good move.
  22. It's Spring Break. I believe they have 2-3 weeks left of indoor when they return next week.
  23. I'm still waiting to pay the bill for Trinity's latest ring.
  24. I am expecting to see Ballard and Eastern step up. They have been putting the pieces in place the last couple of years.
