  1. I was there and question the results when kids are getting DQued by parents that are recruited out of the stands to act as judges. What qualifies them to be judges? However Trigg won. Congratulations to them. Trinity although they did not win overall had more 1st place winners and walked away with class. They will now prepare for their Fourth National title in Oklahoma City over Spring break. Good Luck Rocks!
  2. It was nice to see St. X actually participate this year. Unfortunately they didn't fair to well and their team left before the awards were given out. They didn't have a single kid place in the top 6 in any weight class.
  3. When was the last time these lights were replaced? We always joke that they are the original lights from back in the 40's when my father played for St.X.
  4. The only problem with Sunday afternoon is travel plans for alumni that come in town for the game. Most travelers leave town between 12:00 and 6:00. In the end, somebody is going to be affected by what ever day they played the game.
  5. Again, UofL owns the stadium. ESPN owns UofL/BigEast TV contract. They play when ESPN says so. The next best option for T & X is Saturday night. Sorry about your problems Wildcat fans, but I think Saturday will offer more options for people who want to come in town for this game.
  6. I have a son that will play in the game next season. It's really not a big deal to him. As far as the UofL game, If this is going to be the only Friday night game for the Cardinal's, I am happy it won't conflict with my kids High School game. I have UofL tickets and look forward to spending both night's at Papa John's. UK fans are going to have to make a choice, but I tend to agree with RockPride, we'll be the only High School game that night so attendance could be bigger than ever with all the other school kids in the area available and looking for something to do that night.
  7. What I can say about Coach Beatty that some other coaches don't seem to get a handle on, is that Coach Beatty gets the right players in the right position to be successful in the long run. He tinkers with his lineup throughout the season to find the right combinations to be successful at the end of the season. He will take a loss or two and learn from it and make his team better. Next years team is made up of alot of no name kids but this is the kind of team that gets Coach Beatty excited.
  8. Since Trinity only returns 2-3 starters from 2008, who are the go to guys on both sides of the ball?
  9. They have been lifting since the Monday after the State game. Actually, they have been lifting since they were entering Freshmen year. It never stops. Incoming Freshmen can begin lifting in March once they have been accepted into the School and paid pre-registration fee's. If you plan on playing Football, it's highly recommended that you attend these sessions.
  10. Trinity does not put on pads or go out as a team. They do conditioning in the weightroom and Marshall Center.
  11. Any ideas on OL and DL. Who will coach Oline next year? Dillon Kupper, Tadgh Reidy, Christian Paulino all started for parts of last season. Who will fill in at center and guard? On DLine, Danny Longshore, Tyler Hofer, Patrick Chandler and Robert Watson have basically started as a unit as Freshman, and two seasons on JV. They got alot of reps on Varsity as Juniors as well. Finding depth is going to be the challenge as the season goes on. I think we are going to see alot of experiments with players switching to the other side of the ball or even playing both ways in some spots. Coach Beatty has already got his soup pot out and has his ingredient list on the board. I think this is the most attractive schedule in years. There's no weeks off and I think it is going to make this team better by the end of the year.
  12. I wish I knew the answer to that as well. You normally see a drop off from Freshmen year to Sophomore year but the Freshmen team normally has 80-100 kids. This class only had in the 60's and they were not very successful as Freshmen. The ones that have stuck it out are all quality kids and several will start, Kragthorpe, Nix, Meyer to name a few.
  13. I'm a big fan of how Coach Beatty brings his kids along throught the system. Yes Trinity looses the majority of their starters from last years team. However the Juniors that will step in as Seniors next season have been groomed to fill the void. On Defense, next years team will have all basically started together as Freshman, and two seasons as JV's. Not to mention playing the majority of snaps during the forth quarter for most Varsity games this past season. On offense, Kragthorpe benefited from playing every snap as a Sophomore on JV and was Smyth's backup on Varsity. Several Olinemen saw considerable action as Juniors and are ready to fill the void and Coach Beatty developed alot of depth at receiver as well. My only concern is at running back. Xavier Thomas has been a good one filling in for Tim Phillips and played well on JV, but who is going to back him up? Next years Junior class is very small in numbers (15-20 kids). The Sophomore class although talented as Freshmen, they're still just going to be Sophomores. They need time in the weightroom to mature and be able to compete with older stronger kids. Is there an Alex Kupper or Sam Robey in this bunch that can step up and play significant downs as a Sophomore? Time will definately tell. I know this incoming Senior class realizes they need to push the underclassmen to provide needed depth for them to go out as champions like the previous four classes. They realize the expectations and the legacy they have inherited from the classes that taught them and they are working very hard in the weightroom during the offseason to continue the tradition.
  14. However, our leader is still in charge!
  15. Daylen should play in the backfield somewhere. He should definately play both ways.
  16. Great pick up for the Cards. Now if only DJ would change his mind!!
  17. We're all brothers except on the Football field!
  18. Well Coach Martin will finally be able to return back to his Shamrock roots. I hope to be able to say the same for you THEGREENDANDY in a couple of years.
  19. I think spring practice is a definate benefit for all schools. With that said several do not take advantage of it. I don't know if it is to big a hassel to re-issue all of the gear or if there are to many kids playing other sports. Trinity doesn't go out in pads, they use the time for conditioning and weight training. It seems to be a formula that works well for them.
  20. Based on what their name alone? Both X & T have the reputation each year to make the top 25 each season but who are the players that are going to carry the Tigers next season?
  21. I believe Josh Lewis returns this season at either DE of LB. He looked like a mini Jordan Whiting as a sophomore and sat out his junior season to concentrate on school. Watson and Longshore have won JV most valuable Dline awards the past two seasons and are itching to be full time varsity starters.
  22. 3A has been kind to Central. They now have an advantage over several other JCPS in that they can truely compete for a state title. The other schools in Jefferson County still have to go through X & T in 6A. Central is building a tradition and getting better football players because of this success. It will be interesting to see how many years it will take the KHSAA to shuffle the deck again. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to move Central up in class if they continue to dominate.
