  1. Congratulations to Tim Phillips. The CJ got it Right!!!:dancingpa:dancingpa
  2. Your correct the 07 Freshman team was one of Trinity's worst in recent history. The kids that made up that JV team are stronger than you think and most played another season on JV this season gaining more experience for their Senior season. That's the difference between X & T. Trinity gets their starters for the next season experience on JV, X doesn't use alot of Juniors. It's a lost year for the bulk of them. I've heard alot of X parents complain about X not playing their kids on JV to get experience. Looking forward to next season! Go Rocks!
  3. Wow, No X or T players being mentioned in this post. I hope they will be able to compete next season without any pre-season all-staters.:dancingpa
  4. It meant enough for NFL Films to spend a week filming X & T for their Rivalries series that aired Nationally on CBS this year. Talk about national exposure for Ky High School football!
  5. Put X & T in the 6A final and that attendance will pay for the extra day.
  6. I don't really think you can take alot away from JV games. Trinity and X differ on how they prepare their Sophomores and Juniors. Trinity likes to play as many Juniors as possible on JV to give them reps to prepare them for their Senior season. Some kids start JV both Sophomore and Junior year before they are ready to take over as Seniors. (I personally have a son who has done just that). Trinity's whole defense for next year has basically played together since their Freshman year and they were this years Varsity 2nd string. They also got alot of quality time in Varsity games as well. Last year Cameron Smyth started every JV game and turned out pretty good. You think! Brad Kragthorpe beat out a Junior for JV QB this season and it gives Coach Beatty the opportunity of having him now for two seasons as his Varsity starter. I know St. X uses more Sophomores than Juniors on JV, but how does this benefit the Juniors that are not starting Varsity? Especially when you have a Senior laiden team like X had this past season. Are these Juniors that didn't get the reps Trinity's kids got on JV all of a sudden going to step in and be superior. This might be part of the reason T has a bigger edge. That's up to X supporters to discuss with their coaching staff.:thumb:
  7. Xavier Thomas was Tim Phillips back up this past year. He's a tough runner with speed. He's not Tim, but he will fill in nicely.
  8. ST. X won against Trinity's incoming Senior class as Freshmen and JV but I believe the scores were within 10 points for both games these classes have played. Trinity won this past year's JV game. Talent matures at different stages from Freshmen to Senior year. I'll take my chances with the Rocks.
  9. Thomas will be a Senior and they will have another strong Senior class on Defense that has played as a unit as Freshmen and two seasons of JV ball. On Offense they need to find a center, guard and tackle to step up. Kragthorpe took all the snaps on JV and will have alot of targets to keep Coach Beatty and Coverdales high powered offense running smooth. There's only a hand full of Juniors to be Nix, Kragthorpe, Meyer and Smith that got much playing time as Sophomores. Next years Sophomore class will be strong but as Coach Beatty likes to say, "they're just Sophomores". Several will get opportunities on special teams but will spend the majority of their time playing JV ball. The Quest for 20 and 5 in a Row has already begun. They're already in the weightroom getting ready. Go Rocks!
  10. Actually, I did see this years JV game since I have a son that started on Trinity's JV team. I have been around for alot of games and played in the rivalry myself. All I can say is next years team will work every bit as hard as previous teams and will walk into that game with a honest respect for ST.X. Nothing has changed.
  11. Trinity played Cincy St. X last year in Cincy and they returned the trip this season. Trinity has a return game this coming year. The expense to drive up to this game is well worth to see how they run things in Ohio football. The atmoshere at Cincy ST.X reminds you of a small college atmoshere. Their student body is huge for games, and the home side of the stadium was completely sold out and Trinity brought a very large crowd as well. It was the second most exciting game on the schedule.
  12. Coach Beatty had the same cohesive problems at Trinity during the regular season with the O-line. Once they got healthy during the playoffs they got on a role offensively. I think he mentioned in his post game meeting with the team, they had 13 different line combinations during the season. They loose three starters but have alot of quality depth waiting in the wings.:thumb:
  13. I noticed that as well and wondered what it was all about.
  14. Congratulations DJ from all your Lourdes friends as well!:dancingpa
  15. Next years matches between X & T will be close. Next years Seniors have played each other very close as Freshmen and JV's. I expect the same kind of game next year.
  16. Trinity's sophomore class will be strong, but Trinity normally doesn't play alot of sophomores. There might be a receiver or a running back or a couple others that make special teams, but I doen't expect to see any linemen get the call. They will spend the year gaining expereince on JV. They will be counted on more as Juniors since the 2011 class is so thin.
  17. Trinity will replace their defense with a group of Seniors that have played together for three years, Freshman and JV. They also got alot of minutes in the 4th quarter of most games this year. Actual retuning staters on defense, dbs Ben Breslin and Matt McConnell. Offense linemen Tadgh Reidy, Dillion Kupper, Receiver Rob Mellilo.
  18. Centrals starting QB this season started high school at Trinity. He couldn't crack the two deep lineup for the Freshman team and transfered out for whatever reason. He's grown since leaving and done a great job for Central.
  19. Maybe it would benefit Lexington Public Schools to move down in class like Central did. Put them in 4A or 5A and see if they start competing.
  20. If you want to play another sport other than football, wrestling, powerlifting, basketball or baseball do not have major conflicts with football. However, if you do play another sport and football is your main sport, you must also fulfill your lifting requirements each week. Not all football players play second sports but they do maintain weight lifting schedules.
  21. Correct. It all started 40 years ago for Trinity with their first title.
  22. I have been saying this as well. Ballard, Male, Eastern, Fern Creek, Manual should all play X & T in Freshman and JV ball every year. It could only help develop talent.
  23. I think the cheapest version of Trinity's ring last season was $350.00
  24. I guarantee you Bob Beatty would win at other schools in this state. It's not only the time he demands of his staff during the season, but what they demand of their players in the off season as well. Their season really never ends. It takes a certain kind of kid that is willing to buy into this philosophy. As I have said before, Trinity doesn't always get the best athletes, they start building them from the time they pass their High School entrance exam in the Spring of their 8th grade year and can legally begin weight training. My son is a Junior and never lifted a weight before High School. He's in the weightroom and conditioning now a minimum of 5 days a week. It's been that way since the summer of his Freshman year. If you can tell me the public school programs have the same work ethic and they are still not able to compete, then there really is a problem that I can't answer.
