The 30th district tourny just got a little more interesting

To quote Ric Flair, "To be the man, you gotta beat the man." Or, in this case...the girl.

Monday is a big day for the 30th district. IMO, it is a much bigger game for Spencer. If they keep it close or win, it will go a long way come districts.

I think Spencer could easily be one of the top 5 teams by the end of the season. However, as previously stated, they have to get by Shelby or Anderson to even make a run.

E-Town almost looked not interested in the game after getting up 20. Simon has all their big guns right now. That being said, give credit to Simon for continuing to play hard. They have a very nice team and will be a force in the 8th.

Congrats to Manual. I can't wait till the 7th region tourny.

Final from Lex Catholic. Very well played game which Mercy led most of the way. CAL seems to be the comeback kids.

Obviously it is WAY early to say, but I certainly could envision South being the favorite going into next year.

Which teams do you feel should be ranked in the top 20 and are not? IMO, the most glaring snub is Christian Academy Louisville. CAL could easily be one of, if not the best, team in the state. Franklin County and Simon Kenton are a couple others that stand out. Who all do you feel should be included?

What's comical is that South Oldham is considered one of the youngest teams in the region... By next year, they could be one of the most veteran.

Anderson was down 18 at one point in the first half. Good quality win for them.

Franklin will be a huge early season test for South. The Lady Flyers are a quality team.

I agree. The 8th's young talent is going to be pretty fun to watch over the next few years. South's freshman class is well documented. Oldham has good young talent. Anderson has the big freshman and some middle school kids on varsity. Shelby is always going to be Shelby. Simon has some good young kids. If a couple of the smaller schools have the talent that we read about on here, the 8th will be loaded in a few short seasons.

I understand your position, but I believe that allowing kids to play up has improved the girls game drastically over the last decade. I understand that there is some potential for burnout or injuries. However, the paradigm has shifted in girls athletics overall. You see more girls participating in athletics than ever before. With that, much like the boys, some girls play year round to gain an edge. Therefore, if they are going to be playing anyway, I think it would be best for them to play in the school system where there is some accountability.

In Anderson's defense, they have beaten several nice teams (Lafayette and Henry Clay) and their only loss has come against a top 20 Nelson team when they had several starters out. Shelby seems to be still finding its way, but Coach Zimmerman will have them in much better shape by the end of February--she always does. That being said, Simon is still the favorite.
