And I wouldn't say the talent is "high." It's great that the freshman and JV squads having winning records...but really talented freshman and sophmores would be having success at the varsity level...especially considering the level of teams tates creek has been playing.

Girls basketball in Lexington is at an all time low....at least as far back as I can remember. There should be at least a couple of "ranked" teams every year. One has to wonder if the feeder programs in Lexington are lagging WAY behind the rest of the state.

Other then this being a large school, what makes tates creek a "good" job? They haven't been very good in several years.

well since 40% is considered a really good night from the 3 point line I think your expectations might be a little high

most of the officials in the 12th call the game extremely tight, especially on the perimeter. You just have to know going into the game they are going to do this...and it's always nice to have a deep bench.

They have improved. But so has the 10th. Hard to compare because the road to the state tournament is so much different.

two great games on the first day....6 vs 7 and 1 vs 5 should make for some really good basketball games.

She can't technically sign until early signing period of her senior year (November). But I would expect this is a solid verbal. Coach Whitaker and staff do a great job with kids during the recruiting process.

2 great candidates for sure. Penn has had the more successful career in terms of region and state championships...that will probably tip the scale in her favor in the voting. As far as who is better, I'll let someone smarter then me debate that one.

You make a valid point about some of those other teams strength of schedule. Although I would argue that Holmes/Highland/Conner have slightly better resumes then Campbell at this point. Like I said early, Campbell started in the top 20 and then lost 3 of 5 to begin the year (albeit to quality opponents). The Camels play several teams ranked ahead of them in Jan/Feb so they are going to have plenty of chances to prove they are deserving.

BE has lost 4 games. Two to MALE, one to Butler and one AT Henderson Co. ALL top 10 teams. They have won every other game they've played including quality wins over ranked or previously ranked teams Southwestern, South Warren, Campbell and Eastern. They also have one of the best players in the state surrounded by a veteran team that's been through the wars.

And please with the computer rankings...those rankings are a good indicator of a teams general strength but should not be taken as the bible of rankings. So called computer ranking #5 Scott Co got beaten by unranked Madison Central last night. Scott is a quality team, but in no way are they #5 in the state. Those computer rankings give too much credit for blowing out bad teams.

Ryle has wins over Mason, Sacred Heart, Eastern and Murray. That earns them a top 20 ranking. I went back and looked....Campbell Co. started the year ranked #18. Lost 3 out of the first 5 (two of them to unranked at the time teams) and dropped out of the rankings. Since that time the only quality win they have is against Ryle (which I guess had Scherr just coming off injury). Campbell has played some other ranked opponents close and is clearly a quality team. BUT they don't have the wins over those quality opponents yet. Like I said earlier, it looks like their schedule stiffens up and they are going to get a chance to play their way in. Time will tell.

Campbell 1-4 vs current ranked teams with the 1 win being over a Ryle team playing without Maddie Scherr. Best in state win (other then ryle) is??? However I believe Campbell is a quality team. They have 6 games remaining vs currently ranked teams so Campbell will have plenty of chances to prove they belong on this list.

Scott County has some really interesting game scores. A lot of computer rankings have them really high...will be interesting to see how they play against some of the better competition.
