  1. Boone County is playing very good baseball at this early stage of the season. These guys hit the ball very well and find ways to score. Young pitchers are coming around just fine and gaining the experience necessary to make a run at the end of the season.
  2. Coop..its safe to say at this point the rains will not stop in time for todays games. It's going to tough to play tomorrow unless the sun comes out this afternoon. We will see. Also, your right on the money with your comments about Pugh. I've seen him play and he's getting better.
  3. Wow! Not sure I would have wanted to be in that dugout! I't seems like a combination of things went wrong for Campbell. These mistakes would have been costly playing anyone. Playing a team like Anderson who is playing good ball just made it worse. Good teams bounce back though and CC has plenty of talent and leadership to do just that!
  4. What a beautiful day to play baseball. We dont get many like it during the spring. Not sure I understand cancelling the game altogether? This may have been a good time to test some young arms and at the same time allow your hitters to see more pitches and game situation feilding. Just my opinion. Hopefully the day was used for batting and feilding practice. Also, it looks like teams may be getting a rest for today as well unless you play at St. Henry, Boone County,Campbell County or Ludlow. I'm sure I missed some of the other better draining feilds but these just popped into my head. Baseball is such agreat game and I'm sure most Seniors want to play as much baseball as they can.
  5. Depends on who's pitching for Ludlow?? Is the game on the beautiful banks of the Ohio River? I believe Ludlows Pitching goes about 3 deep then fades off some. I like these kids they've won a couple nice ball games thus far and Coach Stamm is the right guy for the job.
  6. Your right on the money Clyde. Coach Bieger coaches the game of baseball and life! These kids will learn to represent themselves as student/athletes and learn the game of baseball without short cuts!:thumb:
  7. I like Bellevue! These kids are tough. The schedule Coach Sanders has this season is very competitive. I beleive he is making a statement with this team. I know he'd like to be winning more of these but lets see how they shape up be seasons end!
  8. I think the Tigers are tough now! Rob Sanders is a good freind and has done a great job with the program. Kids like playing for him. He's tough but also coaches with affirmation. Bellevue's sticks will come back, the kids they have can compete with anybody. Boone is not underestimating the talent Bellevue has and I'm expecting a close hard fought game.
  9. Boones top three hitters are very quick. Cotton leading off and does a nice job on the bases . Brennan Carroll runs with the best of them bats second and Lokesak who is the quickest of the top three bats third. Then followed by Nate Alford with good speed. So Boone in general is loaded with good speed. Coach Huff has them staggered in the line up for run production. So far it's worked. Luke Sciamanna who is having an outstanding season to date at 3rd base also has good speed at the bottom of the lineup. Boone will need to contain Hunter Jones of Bellevue. You don't stop this kid! You just do damage control.
  10. Walton Verona is solid in a few positions but overall they need some work. I also respect Walton's coach as I believe he has a young squad as well. Boone on the other hand has a very nice balanced ball club this year. Although not picked as a contender....I beleive they are capable of competing with any team up here. In the Highlands win Boones 3rd pitcher held Highlands to just 4 hits. Its nice to fly under the radar for awhile. Dunaway I believe went 1 for 3 and a walk? Not sure on that?
  11. Game went 6 innings Freshman Doug Teegarden got the win for Boone Solid hitting by the Rebels.
  12. Great Point Cooperstown. A "Team" is a work in progress. The best programs tend to win consistently with using the players who made the Team as much as possible. It may only be 2 innings here or a couple swings a game or pinch hit or run. But playing your best 9 IMO is a short term win and a long term program problem.
  13. The Tigers have not played since last Tuesday I believe? In any case they should be rested. I'll take the Tigers in this one and I dont think it will be a blow out either.
  14. I will check with Coach Huff today and make sure the correct schedule is posted. I havent looked at it but glad it was caught.
  15. Agreed! Playing time at the JV and Freshman level is more important. You have to swings at the plate and time in the feild.
  16. Boone in general is a very quick team this year. Especially at the top of the order. Lokesak runs a 6.5 60yd dash while Cotton runs a 6.8 6.9 in the 60. Boths times are legitimate times. Lokesak played on the Bluegrass Chiefs this past summer and set a club record with 46 stolen bases out of 53 attempts. Lokesaks times came from the Cincinnati Steam , Morehead, Eastern Kentucky and Missouri camps. Cottons came from the Bluegrass tryouts this past fall. Both of these guys have the green light to go at any time..and why not? Nate Alford has good speed as does Sciamanna and Carroll. The key is getting on base. Boone has a few pitching prospects as well with some young arms showing some promise but its too early to tell just how they will progress through the season. However, the picture looks much better than originally thought! This team seems at this early stage in the game to play well together. Defensively, it appears Boone has made some adjustments in the infeild to compensate for last years graduations. Carroll is stepping in quite nicely at Short Stop and Nick Hummerick at second base.
  17. Who pitched for the Panthers? Congrats Coach Stamm!
  18. In regards to the question from Cooperstown ( What was the play?) Bases loaded for Boone, Cotton on Third Alford on Second, and Lokesak on first. Dunaway hits a ball in the gap, Cotton scores from Third, Alford scores from Second and Lokesak was getting ready to round second at full speed going from First to Third when the Pendleton County player steps in front of Lokesak rounding the base and they collide. Daniel was awarded Third base because due to the contact. However, the batter was awarded second base which I didnt understand. He was not attempting to go to second base and had just gotten around first. I don't know the rule on this but IMO the batter should not have been awarded a base he was attempting to go to because he was not abstructed.

  20. I watched this game yesterday. Villa is very young with some kids (upperclassman) who havent played since knothole ball as well as some 8th graders. This game was over in the frst inning. Bellevue subbed very early in this game and played the entire bench. I know coach Sanders from Bellevue and he has the utmost respect for Villa. In fact, he said " I was in the same situation 4 years ago". And added; Villa will get better ! Hopefully for Bellevue this momentum carries over vs NCC today. They will need it against a tough NCC team.
  21. I like the Tigers in this one. I'm sure Jeff Schulkins (NCC COACH) will not take this team lightly. Bellevue is coming off a win vs Villa on Monday. Not much of a game as Villa is very Young. Should be very interesting.
  22. Any early thoughts on the Rebels this season with Farris gone?
  23. Sandlin kept the rebels in the game all night! If she turned it over she went and stole it back. Se controlled the clock well down the stretch as well, good job to the entire Rebels team.
