I think Bellevue scored a lot more runs than Villa. :p

Villa is very, very young this year. They are likely to be on the losing end of several lopsided scores this season. But young players one day become juniors and seniors and Villa will have their turn too.

Nice assessment. Who led the way for Bellevue?

Young pitched the first 3 innings and only gave up 1 hit... Then Mayes pitched the 2 last innings of the game I believe he didn't give up a hit...

Who pitched for the lightning?

Villa added 1 more hit in the 5th. Kameron Starek (SO) pitched for Villa. Villa has 14 kids on the team, 6 of which are 8th graders. Only 4 of the 14 played for Villa last year. Villa will just keep playing and keep practicing and do what they can and like stated above one day the 8th graders will become juniors and seniors.

As for Bellevue, they looked good. The top 4 hitters can really put the ball in play however after that it sinks a little. Pretty sound bunch when it comes to playing defense.

Good luck to both teams!

That's if they don't run Track...Villa is too small to sustain multiple Spring sports.

Number 23 Zach Steinkoenig pitched two innings for Villa and I think only gave up one run. He is their most talented player this year and is expected to be the leader on a very young team. He is a very athletic player and plays a very good centerfield, he also adds a decent bat to the lineup.

I thought Villa's coaches did a great job with this very young team. They aren't going to beat the upper teams but these coaches never stopped teaching their team the whole game. Villa's program and particularly this years team are in very capable hand and are constantly being taught the proper way to play baseball. Good luck the rest of the way to Villa. :thumb:

Good luck to both teams this season:thumb:

I watched this game yesterday. Villa is very young with some kids (upperclassman) who havent played since knothole ball as well as some 8th graders. This game was over in the frst inning. Bellevue subbed very early in this game and played the entire bench. I know coach Sanders from Bellevue and he has the utmost respect for Villa. In fact, he said " I was in the same situation 4 years ago". And added; Villa will get better ! Hopefully for Bellevue this momentum carries over vs NCC today. They will need it against a tough NCC team.

I think that Bellevue should run rule a young Villa team...

They did in 5, as well as subbing early and not stealing after the 2nd inning.

Sanders really hit the nail on the head with this one. Villa is definitely a young team who lost a good amount last year and the year before. However it is very good to see interest in the program from some of the schools younger kids. It had at one point been a bit of a problem in the past. Villa will take their licks this year from the sound of it but thats part of a young team. The coaching at Villa seems to be doing avery good job.

I personally hope to get out and catch a few Villa games this year.

Bets of luck to Villa this year.
