Is Anderson Co. that good or is Campbell Co. that bad?

^ Hard to say based on one game. AC is 4-1, with the only loss to highly-ranked Lexington Christian. CC is now 2-1 with the loss.

Probably just an off game by Campbell. A team can look so different from one game to the next depending on what pitching they have to throw. From what I've seen of Campbell and know of a few of their players, they have a solid team and will win more than a fair share of their games this year.

I was told by someone who attended the game that the Camels were just not mentally into the game. Of 4 runners on 2nd base one was picked off on a line drive, another was caught off 2nd by a throw from the catcher and 2 runners tried to go to 3rd on balls hit to the SS. Outfielders missed their cut-offs, plus the starter in 3 1/3 innings walked 4 and hit 1. This person said that Anderson Co. has a good team, but the Camels were their own worst enemy in this game.

Wow! Not sure I would have wanted to be in that dugout! I't seems like a combination of things went wrong for Campbell. These mistakes would have been costly playing anyone. Playing a team like Anderson who is playing good ball just made it worse. Good teams bounce back though and CC has plenty of talent and leadership to do just that!

Anderson County won the 8th Region last season and are probably the favorite to win it this year.

Campbell County fell behind too far too early and caught no breaks hitting into doubles plays and running out of any scoring chances. Anderson Co.'s infield was outstanding, and they did a very good job putting the ball in play and finding holes when not walked. The Camels are deep and talented and should bounce back just fine, Anderson County should have a great year.

How did Turpin and Russell play?

The kids were there for a 6:00 game so trying to adjust their warmups for a game when they did not know when Anderson Co. was going to get there can be a little difficult to stay up for that long of a time.

 

I will say this, Anderson Co. put the ball in play and had a great defense. Where is their shortstop going to go to play college baseball?

I don't claim to be a baseball expert, but this is critical, IMO, at the high-school level.
