BB - This attitude will always be present in life. People have a tendency to believe that bigger is better, more expensive is better, etc. While there are opportunities at some pricey private school or a large school that might not be present at Bellevue, Bellevue also posses qualities and life lessons that wouldn't be present at those larger places.

I thought there had been one, but it was 15 runs? Perhaps it got called actually because of rain? Congrats to LCA regardless.

I didn't see this game, but did see Lafayette play recently. I thought overall, they looked the best I've seen them look in a few years. Still a pretty young team I believe.

Don't have a clue, but I'm sure it was within limits. The Bellevue coaches utilize pitch counts and rest very well. Scott was throwing with the proper rest, etc. Sounds like he threw a great game - he's thrown well all season.

They had at least five with strep diagnosed earlier in the week. I'm sure none of the coaching staff would want to use that as a crutch though. It sounds HC played very well and came onto the field ready to play. Again, hopefully by the Doc Morris on Sunday, they can get refocused and ready to win some ballgames. :thumb:

Congrats to Holy Cross on such a fine performance as well as their pitcher. It's great to see a pitcher take care of business. Just wish it wasn't against the boys of Bellevue! Hopefully the Tigers will be ready to complete the Doc Morris Sunday. Good luck to Holy Cross against Somerset!!

That's a great story to hear about the state champs! It is also marvelous that a stranger would take her time to convey such a positive report. Many times people are more than happy to report or share the negative. The positive side of HS athletics and players can often go without notice.

You know what was most impressive about the appearance for the young man was his composure? He hit spots very well and had the D to back him up. However, he never looked rattled or frustrated and for a first appearance, that's unusual. A pat on the back to him!

No disrespect meant for Lloyd at all Juggernaut! I'm an admirer of the program. I also saw the Bellevue/Lloyd game previously where Bellevue played terribly and Lloyd played very well. Bellevue had a very solid game this weekend in the Doc Morris! I'll agree that Lloyd did not perform as well as they had in the previous matchup and perhaps it was due to being tired. Baseball is a game that requires players to be balanced and can take it's toll with multiple games and outside activities. Regardless of how tired any Lloyd players were, Bellevue played very fundamentally sound baseball. That's not an insult to Lloyd. :-) Congrats again to Bellevue on playing some great ball of late... not just against Lloyd.

Bellevue played a very solid game.... defense, pitching, offense, and poise. All the parts were there - very good stuff to see!!

The Generals are playing some very good ball!!!!!

While I didn't think that errors cost them the Lloyd game, they certainly made the score a bit more spread than it should have been.

It's been random. These kids are well rounded ball players. It's painful to watch them mess up a game because they make errors and allow their heads to get fuzzled. Hopefully, things will begin to mesh and they'll be more fluid in all areas of their game.

That's unfortunate that players would let their team mates down like that. Despite Villa's struggles, I have a ton of respect for the coach and the players for building a program. Too bad they didn't get to participate in the tourney.

I will agree with the other assessments as well. However, in watching them warm up on Sunday against Bellevue, I was impressed. A winning baseball team requires many parts to be successful.... team chemistry, coaching, confidence, etc. as well as athleticism. I thought I saw those intangibles in Lloyd. It remains early in the season, so time will tell. As for now... my hat's off to them as a solid team that deserves respect for what they've done.

I believe Scott is the #1. He was actually about a week late starting the season due to an injury. One thing that has impressed me with Bellevue that wouldn't be anticipated from reading threads here is that their pitching is much better than one would expect from a school their size. Their ability and their depth are both better than most would expect. The pitching staff has served them very well. I probably should clarify that I was just referencing the other post. I don't want to sound as if not having Scott throw against Lloyd lost the game. Lloyd was a VERY good team!! They were coached well and they earned my respect from this one game. Regardless of who threw that day for Bellevue (Piper, Scott, or one of the others), Lloyd outplayed us. :thumb:

No they did not. Piper through against Lloyd and he isn't first in their rotation or their "ace". Piper pitched very well for the first few innings until he made a defensive error and then seem to struggle. Piper had last thrown against Boone County on Tuesday, which was five days prior.

Jones possesses the ability to hit for average, ability to hit for power as well as excellent speed. I suspect he also has an arm that grades out pretty high, although I've never seen him truly tested in that area. There is absolutely no doubt that Hunter is a top DI player as evidenced by his recruiting process and watching him play repeatedly. I'm sure he'll have the attention of pro scouts as well.... how much time will tell. What parents and even coaches observe in a player doesn't always equate to what pro and college scouts are witnessing. A player may have a terrible game according to someone on the sidelines. The potential that a scout can assess is a skill.... they're paid for it. I have no doubt that they are grading Jones very well.
