CovCath beat Moeller that year. They were undefeated going into the playoffs. I believe they were ranked in the top ten nationally. I don't know how the playoff game with Highlands went but most consider this to be CovCath's best team not to win state and possiblly the best team ever period.

CovCath also got a lot of kids from Spartans and a few kids from Beechwood middle school.

Don't count your chickens. Both teams have very good players. I would expect both offenses to be very basic and easy to defend. It is hard to get team chemistry with a week of practices.

I was told that Dierig, Schlosser, and the other two starting Dlineman were playing. #69 and #56? Combs and Bardo are not playing, but I don't know about Buten.

Covcath only did one relay and that was their 4x100 team because they wanted a better time. Last year they did the same thing and only brought the guys that wanted to improve their seeding times. And Mash hurt is ankle back at Donnie Carnes which still hurts him. He sucks it up and runs on it but jumping is still an issue. Hopefully he can get it healthy by regional.

Cov Cath did this meet only for guys who wanted to improve on their times before regional..They only brought about 10 guys who did some individual events to try and get better seed times for regional. They also didn't even bring their distance squad. After looking at the final results, they would have won by at least 30 had they brought the team.

Troy has not heard from Ball State yet but I would not be surprised if they were to offer him eventually

I'm sorry but quickslick, you just sound ignorant. The whole Area 5 thing was a joke and there were plenty of teams not there, mainly due to the fact that it was not scheduled at the coaches meeting in the beginning of the year. Instead, it was scheduled a month ago. Teams like Covcath already had two meets scheduled that week and would rather be challenging themselves against the best competition. You say Covcath has trouble beating you in your "strength" events but what else do you have besides a 4x8, a two miler, and an 800 runner? The meet on Saturday was to help some younger guys get some experience at a big meet. The point spread means nothing because as I recall, Covcath entered the state meet last year ranked 4th. If I remember correctly, I think they did a little better than that? And as for KingLouie's comments about being short on people, this is actually true. Covcath's best long jumper has not jumped for a month due to injury and their best hurdler ran with an illness. They also just threw in a team of jumpers to have FUN and run the 4x4 because they did not have any guys to fill it. It sounds like you get a little too worked up over track and need to ENJOY the sport for what it is instead of rip on other teams.

There was another game right before CovCath played LexCath last year. I don't think middle schools are involved.

They started 3 sophs at linebacker and 2 on the Dline. Trust me, the defense is going to be very good this year. Coach Naumann and Coach Ray have been working with these kids for two years now. Watch out for Grant Guess at LB, he had a great year last year in first ever season of football, and has added a lot of muscle in the offseason. They return Timmerman, Connaughton, Henderson, Jones, and Sizemore on the D line (All saw signifacant playing time last year), Guess, Coyne-Chailland, and Clark at LB. All three were sophs last year. Throw in Leo at MLB and Soph. D.J. Powell at OLB and you have pretty good depth at LB. Paul Ritter is a stud at Safety and Travis Conner returns at CB.

The Dixie, Beechwood, and NewCath games will not be close. I really think they can go 9-1 or 8-2. St. X is a tough one and IMO a bad game to play week 10. You never know what will happen in the first game of the season against Ryle, it could go either way. CovCath Highlands is going to be a battle this year.

Dixie is going to struggle this year.

Pike is going to lose more games than he will win as a starter. Towles win a whole lot more games than he loses. I don't care how big you are if you can't lead your team to victory.

CovCath brought their A game tonight...I definitely do not agree with Campbell County boys being the best overall right now? ..quickslick's predictions were a little off because there were no "glaring holes" in CovCath's performances tonight.

It happened in 95. I believe this is the first year they made the playoffs.

Late 90s Early 2000s. I've heard this from numerous people and I just wanted to know if anyone else ever heard it. Not a shot at SK but seeing their scores from the last 10 years just reminds me of this story.

Does anyone else remeber the time that SK got rings for making the playoffs?
